Typical Rock Bottom style, chain brewpub. Server was fairly disinterested and unpleasant. Did not try the food. Samples available for a buck each and I sampled all the seasonals. Overall good quality. Not worth seeking out but if you find yourself here you will find something decent to drink.
Beer Quality// moderate
Beer Philosophy// four house beers; a few rotating taps; house beers are simple; many of the rotating offerings are fairly uninspired; rotating IPAs can be of high quality
Serving Sizes// flights; full pours
Growler Situation// 64oz (will fill theirs and others)
Food Situation// chain restaurant food
Ambiance// in the fucking mall; chain brewpub construction; sportsbar vibe
Overall// worth checking out if close by; go with the rotating IPA if you only have time for one; let your significant other go shopping while you have a beer
IMHO best brewpub in the Philly area. Solid line up of beers by a knowledgebale brewer. GABF Gold Medal Porter was outstanding. Simcorilla and Snow Cat IPAs were fantastic this winter. Layout is good in that you have a large bar area with high tops, and then an almost separate sit down restaurant. Takes reservations and is very family friendly. Two of the best servers we’ve ever had dining out were (are) here. $11 growler fills (compare that to $18 to $25 at Iron Hill) with $6 fills on Mondays(!!). Food is definitely above average for a brewpub that’s not serious about being a gastro-pub.
Came up as a surprise while shopping at the mall, haven’t seen one before. Service was good, it was an early lunch. The setting and food was typical family restaurant fare, I did like being close to the fermentation tanks where some work was being done. Beer selection was all in-house or contract made offerings, all seemed on the lighter side so settled on their schwarzbier. Overall pretty cool to stumble upon a brewery in a mall, I wouldn’t go out of my to come here but a nice stop if shopping anyways.
It is in a mall and its a chain. Their standard offerings that I sampled were ok. The IPA was fresh and drinkable. But Simcarillo makes it worth the trip when its on. Food was typical chain restaurant quality. The place has a lot of things working against it but its not that bad.
Very big place...nice sort of sports bar meets brewpub atmosphere...definitely a chain brewpub...my only real complaint is that my bar stool had no back on it...i hate that. Service was friendly and fast...the bartenders beer knowledge was decent not great but she knew enough to get around the beer list. 8 drafts and a cask...some fairly good ones actually. Food was decent not fabulous but fairly priced...good enough lunch. Id go back to try more beers.
Have escaped the shopping on a few occasions to relax with a beer or two in here. half a dozen or so taps and a cask line serving their own brews.
Standard RB pop up brewpub style decor. Bar tend was friendly enough on my last visit (May ’11).
Nothing special but OK to escape the shops from!
