Have to concur with recent comments; this place seems to have lowered its cask game of late, although it remains an adequate whistle stop for a sneaky half of Oakham whilst the missus shops, a tactical nappy change or spot of quickfire perfectly edible brunch watching the dregs of Leicester filter in and out of the magistrate’s opposite. Kind of a rich man’s Wetherspoons, but if the beer and food is better, more plentiful and cheaper in said establishment it begs the question, why bother coming here?

Kind of ok. Family friendly, dining orientated. Did have a couple of reasonable and well kept guest ales, but not a priority for a beer savvy pub crawler.

Our second visit here and boy has it gone downhill from a couple of years ago. Dirty tables and filthy toilet area. The beer range is now pretty small and not well kept. Now knocked of our Leicester tour map.

Sterile chain with a wide range of clientele, not a lot of atmosphere nice selection of 4 or so cask ales though and reasonably priced.

Four real ales available, one of which will always be from Oakham.. Making a real effort which is unexpected given Slug & Lettuce’s reputation. Beer quality good and cheaper than most of the town. Its cheaper prices does mean that occassionally the customers are there simply for the cheap beer if you get my drift.

It’s a sterile chain, but it has two rotating microbrewery guests, with Wells Bombardier and Oakham Oblivion as the regulars. The ales are reasonably priced. I think the price is £2.50. Never had the food. Service is perfunctory to good. Very decent beer festivals are held once or twice a year.
