90 Clean, coffee-shop-type digs. Taplist is esoteric but everything is just fantastically done and the brewer listens to his own muse. Don't go here to chase the latest trends, go to see what someone on the cutting edge is mastering. This and Wayfinder are tops on my list now that Hair of the Dog is closed. |
78 Over a stairway and through a cafe, to upright brewing we go. Cool spot once you get down to their subterranean digs, but unfortunately its not super Covid friendly, so they're looking to update. Beer is great, staff is friendly, vibe is cool, worth a spot when you're in Portland. |
70 several very good mixed fermentation on today. severely bottle choices
a good place to shop though basement treck cuts ambiance. |
88 Kind of weird to get to, it's smallish, bathroom is outside the door, not many taps and parking isn't great but this place is a truly hidden gem in Portland. The house tap offerings are some of the best and most lovable beers beer geeks can get in the city. |

90 Visited August 2016. Tricky to find, in the basement of a building. Taproom literally in amonst the brewery, quirky! Selection of around 6 to 8 taps, their beer are very decent. I wasn't an afficionado of the brewery so pethaps foolishly didn't investigate the takeaway bottles, plenty of folk were coming in for them though. It was my first stop in Portland, glad I found it! |
82 Make sure you have a good idea of where you are headed when going here- like many others I walked past it a few times before finding it. In the basement of an office building. The smell of grain hits you as you walk in. You are basically on the brewery floor and you sit among the equipment and barrels aging some of their offerings. Friendly service. Great prices on their stellar beer. I wish I had more time to spend here, but the concert was about to start down the street at Moda Center (which makes this a great pre-event spot for a brew). HIghly enjoyable experience. |
80 In about a quarter after seven on the first Thursday in July 2017. Located in the basement so don’t hang out in the coffee shop on the ground floor looking for their beer, though the coffee shop folks were super helpful in navigating us to the brewery. Definitely an ad hoc tasting space, unlike the other pile of breweries I’d visited so far in Portland. You’re situated among the brewing equipment, with tables tossed wherever a few free feet of space existed. Floors are wet in places from brewing happening. Barrels all around. Cash only, so be prepared. However, pours are $2 at most for the five ounce size, and scale up quite reasonably after that. 10 beers on when we went. Worth a visit if you can get in there. A nice stop on a long day that had already included a few others, Labrewatory, and Ex Novo nearby are worth a visit as well.

84 OK, this one was a serious PITA to find. Circled the area 4 times and found the building (just a small sidewalk sign). Got in the building and finally found out to go down in the basement. Seems like you are drinking in someone’s unfinished basement surrounded by barrels. Great upright beers and a do not miss place for sure! |
