64 Central state beer store with a good selection |
72 The only and therefore the best option. Not a big, but a decent collection of local craft. Prices are surprisingly ok and had I known would have gone here first and saved myself some crazy bar prices. Staff were nice and actually knew about local beers. |
62 It’s the only, hence the best high alcohol beer store downtown. Actually the state liquor store. Does singles. Has a decent selection. Worth a stop when in the “old town”. |
58 Visited as a tourist to Iceland for the first time. Our visit here was on July 6, 2018. Located on one of the main pedestiran streets in town. We walked in to check the selection, got 2 cans of local beers and left. Planned to make it back, but never did. Quite the decent selection of imported beers. Fairly decent selection of local beer as well. Expensive place, but cheaper than the bars. Would return to check out more stuff not that easily found in bars, or to sample them a tad bit less super expensive than in the local bars. |
54 The branch in central Reykjavik of the state-run chain of alcohol stores. Similar to the Swedish Systembolaget - but selection is very limited to Icelandic microes/makroes and a few foreign options. This was the biggest store I saw on Iceland - the shops in rural Iceland has an even more sparse selection and very limited hours. Everything is very expensive on Iceland - Vinbudin is no exception. However, you can find beers at a lower price than in restaurants and bars. Nice and service minded staff despite the hoards of somewhat confused tourists. |
74 Recommended! Normal state run alcohol shop (wine, liquor and beer over ~2% alcohol). Not the biggest selection of craft, but good enough and VERY conveniently located in the heart of downtown as well as much better prices than the bars. I picked up Brewdog IPAs (~$6/bottle) and a very decent local Ulfur IPA #3 (a steal at ~$4/bottle). Limited hours and closed Sun. A much better choice value-wise if you just want some good beer as opposed to exploring the beer culture here. |
72 A good option for picking up beers in the centre of town. Small selection of ’craft’ local breweries (probably fewer that 10 beers) but more stuff from more macro-y Icelandic breweries. They also have beers from the UK and US, Belgium, Scandinavia. Decent prices, considering. Nearly laid out shop. Keep in mind that you can only buy beer above 2.25% from shops like this. Also keep in mind that the opening hours are somewhat limited. Overall, fairly OK. |
74 Whats to say, all vinbudins are the same on prices and service... for this vinbudin > selection was ok, smaller than the others thus less selection |
48 Bottle shop close to the Micro Bar. In fact, the guys at the bar suggested I go here to get my hands on some of the beers that were not currently available at the bar. Mostly used this shop to bring bottles to the hotel, it served my purpose. Selection is mostly the more common Icelandic beers, some Danish and the odd US beer. Fair prices for Iceland. Service was terrible the first time, guy wouldn’t even acknowledge our existence even though we greeted him politely. I guess he must have been bored by tourists, but hell this country gains a lot from tourism, so stuff the attitude and try to manage a smile. |
34 Rather small store with a limited beer selection. Bad service, personel was more interesting in chatting with colleagues, but I found my beers, payed and went. Handy if you are in the city centre. |
