68 Huge old-school grocery store that has been converted to basically only hold beers. I feel like I've walked into the mid-80s. Seriously. Staff the last time I was there was a little aloof, but polite, and knowledgeable (they said nice things about the beer I got which sounded earnest). I still haven't been to the Beer garden. Hope to do that when the weather gets nice.
Prices on some beers are relatively comparable, but many beers seem more expensive than anywhere else. I'd hate to have to shop elsewhere, but if I can save myself 5-10 bucks (depending on what I buy), I'll go to Total Wine or even the local grocery store. I'd love to support the small guys, but I have a mortgage now. |
72 Angled parking in front parked down the street on a Thursday afternoon. Old style grocery. The place was not busy, so I don’t know where all the people from the cars went to. No service is to speak of. The beer is on the right and in the back in some old deli coolers. Prices seemed good. The center part is just a bunch of singles. I found a KBS. I would return. |
70 Combination bar/urban beer garden/grocery store in a suburban part of Arlington. Finally made it out here thanks to DCLawyer on a Saturday night. Service was efficient, recognized one of the bartenders from Sehkraft. Not a huge selection of drafts but decent enough, plus two Sehkraft beers. Grocery store has bottles and cans for take out, worth a look. Didn’t try the food but apparently the poutine is pretty good. Pretty pricey. Apparently they have live bands on certain nights. Wouldn’t go out of my way to come here but decent enough if you’re in the area. |
82 Ambiance is nice, small neighborhood grocery store with surprisingle large beer selection. In a cute suburnan neighborhood center, at least by NoVa standards. Many singles. Not particularly cheap. |
70 Looks like a crappy grocery store but the beer selection is sick. Walls of dry storage and coolers. Nice patio as well. |
80 Grocery store with very good beer selection. |
72 I think it was a Sunday…in February. The weather was nice. We were at a beer garden in North Arlington, a well-to-do area. It was gorgeous out. The young first time parents were out in droves getting lit. Their kids were running around driving their soft skulls into the corners of the few picnic tables scattered throughout the fenced in area. Right outside the fence is where the families would leave the dogs, every once in a while they would let out a squeal or a howl, letting everyone know they were there. Most of the beers were of the high alcohol variety, served in plastic cups in either 10oz or 8oz increments. Be prepared to spend a dollar per ounce. The staff were burnt out junkies who still had the wherewithal to card anyone under the age of 50. Attached is a market where they seemingly have no idea what normal prices are anywhere else in the country. Either way this is a nice little gem to come to if you already got a buzz and you want to sip on a pint outdoors without getting your head caved in by an overzealous police officer. Overall a nice place, I just wish the parents of all those kids knew places like Chuck E Cheese and Dave and Busters exist. |
72 Phenomenal selection of beers for a neighborhood grocery store. |
70 A grocery store with a beer garden in the middle of a nice neighborhood. The beer wraps around the entire outside of the store. Lots of beer here but holy cow this is expensive. Probably $2 more for a bottle here than other place I’ve seen, although everything in this area is expensive. Still this is an impressive selection. A mix a six will cost you $20+ but you will find a decent selection of beers new to you |
78 A dozen changing beers on draft -- all interesting. A thousand bottles in the store that can be served with the bar menu. Outside seating in warm weather. Nice suburban option to the DC beer destinations. |
