Cloudy straw color. Woody apple scent. I envision a fall day at the orchard with casks setting in the back room. Flavors are a bit too thin to handle all the wood and rye.

Bottle. Hazy golden with small head. Quite sweet with maple, mild bourbon and light smoke. Excellent, but would be even better with the sweetness dialed back a bit.

Crispin Blackberry & Pear Cider
Purple-raspberry copper hue with no head. Artificial blackberry alcohol phenols on the nose and light pear. Juicy sweet but paradoxically dryish flavor that’s full of blackberry and pear, artificial sugary booze phenols and a berry fleshy finish. Honestly not that bad, but it’s entertaining like a disaster movie. Not redeemable on any aspect other than I can turn my brain off and enjoy it’s baser qualities.

Crispin Original
2015 BJCP Category: C1A New World Cider

AROMA: Light aroma of mostly green/golden apples. Slight tartness. No acidity. Mild nose overall. 6/12

APPEARANCE: Pale gold hue; crystal clear with consistent CO2 visible. White foam immediately dissipates. 3/3

FLAVOR: Medium to semi-sweet palette, no superfluous sugary presence. Flavor is mostly red apple with distinct green apple tartness on the finish. Faint acidity in the aftertaste, but it does not linger. 14/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body and carbonation (not as crisp as it looks). Refreshing with a fairly clean aftertaste. Light tannins. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Pretty standard, no-frills cider. It’d be better either bone dry or richly sweet. 7/10

TOTAL SCORE: 33/50

Crispin Browns Lane Imported English Cider
As a lifelong cider lover who never got into beer at all, I was thrilled to discover this cider. Previously a fan of original Strongbow, original Blackthorn and Scrumpy Jack, none of which seem to be available in the USA anymore, I definitely appreciate a good, dry cider - the type apparently not appreciated by the American palate (or so I have read). This is very crisp and only a little fizzy. It is not supposed to taste of yeast or anything other than fermented apples. I have no idea why people are discussing its head and even calling its lack of one a negative, as cider isn’t supposed to have a head! Honestly not sure of the relevance of appearance. Somerset Scrumpy, the unfiltered stuff made at orchards, is so dense you can’t see a pinhead’s depth into it, so would score very poorly on looks. But if anyone let that put them off, they would be missing out. I suggest people concentrate on taste - something this has in abundance. Enjoy this very cold - like an Australian lager. Don’t water it down with ice - save that for poor quality ciders like Magners. This is a superb cider for purists, and particularly refreshing on a hot day.

Crispin Bourbon Char
Bomber from the Woodland, CA CostCo. Pours pale gold with bubbles. Aroma of apples, with something suggesting maple. Med minus body, but more body than most ciders. Flavor is apple, maple, touch of smoke, and I think I can find bourbon. For me it seems the maple and smoke is strongest, but the bourbon is there. Not really getting any wood, and it is not quite dry. It is smooth and tasty. Well done!

$2.35 can from wine warehouse. Bought it for someone else but I'm grasping at straws here. Clear gold. Aroma is almost exactly apple jolly ranchers. Taste is quite the same. Tastes more like a koolade flavor than something I'd be drinking. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; a slightly hazy golden orange with white lacing. Smells and tastes of a nice balance of candied apples, oak, and rum with a medium to medium full-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

This would be the first cider for me to analyze. Crisp in has a nice label, almost wine worthy labeling which drew me to trying it and expecting more from it than an Angry Orchard or Redds offering. This is essentially what Miller light would taste like with an apple juice infusion. Very light and very low concentration of apple flavor. So drinkable that it would be fitting for a toddler. A highly refined cider, lacking depth and character.

Aroma is apples and a floral scent, good blend. Light pour, almost watery. Minimal head, light on the tongue. Very crisp going down with a sweet taste that doesn’t overpower the entire complexity.

I think I may have an old bottle as the aroma is kind of funky and not in a good way. Apples, yes; unwashed body parts, no. Palate is good tho. Flavor’s somewhat similar to nose, no sign of maple or spices. I wouldn’t want another one of these although I could see, perhaps how someone might - maybe?

Kind of an interesting idea that just doesn’t play out. Appearance is a flat pale yellow. Aroma is fresh apple cider with some sake overtones that sort of work, if you’re into that kind of thing. Personally, I’ve had much better. Ok body. Short finish.

Crispin Browns Lane Imported English Cider
This is what real English cider is supposed to taste like. Using the correct type of apple, and fermented in traditional way. A lot of people mention no head, it’s cider, it’s not supposed to have a head. If you are going to rate it in same style as a beer you are doing the product a disservice.

Aroma is ripe apples, and hints of honey and rum. Flavor’s similar to nose, plus a hint of oak. Sweet dominates, could maybe use a bit more carbonation to cut the sweet. I didn’t do the swirling until after I opened it. Appearance is a slightly cloudy amber cider. Decent finish.

One of the lighter, weaker ciders I’ve had thusfar. Aroma is actually watery apples, very light. Pours very crisp, light with average head. Taste is consistent on the front and back, like a watered-down apple. A bit dry on the palate, very light pour. Not very impressive though, as it’s rather boring throughout.

That’s got a nice aroma to it. It looks just like cranberry juice, smells like pear and tastes like blackberry and pear juice with significant sugar added. This is more like something you would drink out of a juice box through a small bendy straw in your lunch box.

"Luscious pear-berry bouquet?" You have got to be fucking kidding me. This smells like their terrible perry, with the addition of some berry cleaning fluid. After the aroma, the taste isn’t actually all that terrible. I had almost 2 oz of this and finished it, after all.

5oz draft pour at Whole Foods Old Town Alexandria. Poured a clear light purple juice color with a fizzy off-white head. Aroma was blackberry with a touch of pear juice. The pears come out of this one a lot more than I’m used to with these - where the pear is really muted which leaves just a generic juice flavor. Blackberry was a nice addition. This was a lot less sweet than I expected.

They were absolutely right when they said that this would cellar well, and I’m disappointed that I don’t have more stashed away. Mine was aged 4.5 years in a refrigerator. The aroma has good wood notes with lots of green apple, which is the biggest flavor element, but there is also complexity, not particularly of whisky but dry and rounded with a floral note. Really easy drinking, interesting. Excellent cider. Bottle.

Bottle from the grocery story.

Light, slightly hazy pour that darkens and thickens somewhat as I work my way through the bottle. Apple juice nose, strong red apple skin flavors. Relatively sweet, a bit of alcohol flavor, this one isn’t working for me. I don’t understand the high ratings. .

Clear pale. Nice friendly fruity smell. Taste is pretty good, perhaps not as sweet and a little more dry compared to many american ciders but fer sure there is plenty of unfermented sugar in there. Decent co2. Has a bit of a bite to it. Yes, somewhat annoying on the end of each swig. A little less than expected.

Hazy pale straw, nearly milky. Minimal white rim of foam. Orange peel and fruit punch scents. Thicker feel. Sweet tart flavors. Light apple pie with citric zest. Light spice adds to the apple pie appeal. I’m finding this very easy to drink. Dry finish with just enough residuals to make you come back. I’m really kind of liking this.

Crispin Blackberry & Pear Cider
This is a fruit punch tasting beverage which apparently resembles a perry in some way I cannot personally discern. It would be soda pop style but mine is all kinds of flat. I am not sure if the seal on the cap failed or what but these guys use screw caps so they get no sympathy from me. It does not seem all kinds of oxidized or anything like it would if that were the case so, yeah, I guess this is just a bust. I recommend this for children who wish to get accidentally drunk and throw up purple juice on their moms.

Bottle that Mom found in the cabinet but who knows if it was mine or Zac’s! It’s definitely a different cider. The aroma almost has a musty, red wine slant to it. I heard great things about this cider and bought a bottle at my local super market and I gave it a try today. It tasted very fowl to me and it reminded me of a colonoscopy prep. I love apple juice and this has now spoiled my taste for apple juice for a while. I would never buy this product again. This is just my opinion but at least I gave it a try.

Bomber from Total Wine, Tampa.
