Lonerider Tombstone Reserve
16 oz can, 2015 vintage, from the Wall of Beer (Clemson, SC). Served in an wn Ottakringer mug. A: Pours black-brown; opaque in the mug; a proper size creamy tan head exhibits very good retention and leaves fine lacing. Aroma: dark roasted grains and cocoa, with notes of rye, coffee, vanilla, faint wood and a hint of bourbon. Subtly complex and well balanced. Flavor: character follows the aroma but is a little bolder and less spicy (rye) than the nose. Dark roasted grains and chocolate dominate; notes of mild black coffee, rye spicing, faint wood and bourbon, and toffee. Mildly bitter. Medium-full body with medium-light carbonation. Very smooth

Hazy gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Airy palate, semi dry, good fine crispness. Very light malts bring a pleasant light sweetness. Mild hop skunk leads to lots of cooling pine. Sweet tropical fruits, a little mango and pineapple identifiable. Trace of sherbet. Cooling pine finish brings modest hop spice. Spicy linger. Comes together very well indeed. Lovely light but very hoppy IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz can into Oerbier goblet. Dark clear gold color. Aroma has lots of alcohol but just your plain big Belgian and not barrel. Small but strong head. Later pours darken the beer. It’s not over yet estery but it’s sweet and big Belgian. Pie crust, warm out of the oven with liquor. Flavor has a bit of malt bitterness, less alcohol sting but alcohol heft with some alcoholic yeast fruitiness. Strong but I doesn’t have any spirit alcohol. If you like them big but not bad, this is it.

Lonerider Sundance Kid Pilsener
Can @ Hickory’s Smokehouse, Chester as ’Gunslinger Pale Ale’ 5.4%, aliased with this czech pilsner because pale ales are clearly the same thing, and the ABV is pretty much the same. Pours a generally clear gold, small white head. Aroma is moderately sweet malt. Taste is slick, overly sweet, almost rich with a low bitterness. Bit sticky sweet. Not for me.

Pours hazy butterscotch with a thick and frothy, though not lasting, eggshell head. Aroma offers crisp malty and yeasty notes plus a hint of hops. Flavor offers zesty malt, resiny hops, and subtle yeast notes, distinguishing it from most pilses I have sampled. Mouthfeel presents decent body and serviceable fizz. No need to go to a saloon - enjoy it anyplace.

(Drank straight from the can) Grant Seafood Festival 2016 ... I don’t know what this looks like. I don’t care. I can’t smell much out of this tiny opening, but I’m picking up just a hint of sweet chocolate crème or milk chocolate. Medium to full-bodied with tingly carbonation. The flavor offers semi-sweet cocoa and a moderate measure of toastiness. Drinks nutty, toasty and moderately sweet. Crisp, lightly roasty, bittersweet finale. Can courtesy of ygtbsm94!

Pint at Lonerider, ok aroma yeasty grapefruity. Clouded golden orange color, no head or lace moderately sour flavor , medium body, smooth creamy mouthfeel, mouthfeel bitter finish. It’s ok, flavor best part. It’s strong on grapefruit. Maybe could of been less heavy on it. Fun to try, not having another.

Can (BB May 5, 2017). Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (cocoa powder, toasted nuts, grain), with notes of butter, sour grape candy, plastic, stale coffee grounds. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Phew, pretty doggone dirty aroma on this one. Even the malt odors aren’t all that great. Quite foul aftertaste too. Pretty hard to stomach more than a few grimace-inducing sips before dumping poor ol’ Josie down the drain.

A fantastic middle of the road brown ale. Packed with brown sugar and chocolate powder flavors.a hint of tartness in the finish. Earthy but not dry. Mild hops lay back behind the malt in the finish. Pours hazy brown capped with a two finger tan head. Huts all the style points and all the components meld artfully.
