BFM √225 Saison - Vino Santo (2016)
(Draught at Chez Moeder Lambic Original, Brussels, 20 May 2017) Hazy golden colour with dense, white head. Fruity, sourish nose with notes of unripe green grapes, horse stable and grapefruit. Fruity, tart taste with sour grapes, grapefruit, grass, funky yeast, some vinegar acidity and a mild grassy bitterness. Medium body, dry. Fresh, tart and solid saison. Very nice.

BFM Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien (2015)
(Draught at Muted Horn, Berlin, 25 Aug 2017) Ruby red colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, sourish nose with caramel, balsamic vinegar, raspberries and cherries. Malty, tart taste with notes of caramel, balsamic vinegar, raspberries, sour cherries and a sweet and sour finish with lots of tannins and acidity. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Hardly for the faint-hearted, but in very good balance considering the alcohol level. Most of the alcohol is actually over-shadowed by the fruity acidity. Lovely beer!

Cervezón, como ponerse tiquismiquis cuando es lo mejor que has probado... Aroma vinoso, a madera, manzana ácida, ligeramente asidrado. Carbonatación media y textura levemente aterciopelada, cuerpo medio. En la boca e acentúan los matices a de madera sin tapar el resto de matices. Una cerveza de una complejidad para la que faltan las palabras, gastarse la pasta con gusto.

Bottle, courtesy of DerA, many thanks! Pours darkest brown with a little bit of head. Aroma is oxidized, caramel, vanilla, feels like a strong barrel aged beer. Body is medium, rather dry, sweet and oily, almost no carbonation. Lingering warming palate, yet still quite light. Held up surprisingly well!

Flavor is smooth and fruity, mild vinous, wood and pleasant fruity acidity. Fine balanced body and long lasting fruity, medium acidic aftertaste. Fantastic beer with an amazing balance between sweet and sour.

Cask at Mother Lambic. It pours cloud deep red with a bubbly beige head. The aroma is rich, tart, tangy, sour, red wine vinegar, jammy berry, oak, vanilla, bakewell tart, vinous action and vimto. The taste is tart, tangy, acidic, red wine vinegar, very jammy, juicy cherry, cherryade, wet wood, earthy, funky, musty, earth with a drying and tangy finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Pretty flavoursome, but red wine vinegar is too big of a part if this beer. Decent stuff anyhow.

Batch 2016 bottle from the duty-free shop (hah!) at Basel airport. Near-black with a fine tan foam and a sweet treacle and creamy-yeasty nose reminiscent almost of Hefeweizen if it weren't for the faintly drying note of alcohol. Rich and sweet, yet with a creamy-dry overlay. Notes of cocoa, tar, vanilla and burnt treacle, with hints of pepper and bitter chocolate in the finish. Lovely!
