Hazed deep golden color with a fine head. Some elderflower in the aroma. Medium body and a fine carbonation level. Strange because it was a gusher at first. Nice balanced sweetness and bitterness. Not much elderflower in the flavor. Flowery and some spices. Nice refreshing ale.

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aromas of burnt toast and marmalade. Taste is light sweet biscuit, toffee and something earthy. Sweet finish. I'm enjoying it as and esb. It's far from ipa.

Bottle from the Homebrew Bottle Shop, Oxton in Birkenhead. This one is 7.4. Appearance - opaque black and a decent thin head. Nose - toffee and molasses. Dry smoky. Taste - toffee, toffee, toffee! Palate - medium bodied plus. Creamy and sweet. Similar finish. Overall - not really all I would like in an Imperial stout.

Liverpool Organic Empire Ale
Bottle from the Homebrew Bottle Shop, Oxton. Appearance - dark ruby to brown. Nice fawn lacy head. Nose - strawberry, light marzipan, toffee and praline. Taste - nuts, marshmallow, toffee, honeycomb and chocolate. Palate - rich medium to full bodied. Rich middle section that's a touch crunchy. The finish is still rich but it tapers fairly well. Overall - wow, rich and complex.

Total let down, organic certainly have lost their way in the last 18 months, this is a watery, taste free brew. With efforts like this you can see why theyre hardly to be seen in liverpool anymore. Truly sad.

Bottle from Homebrew Bottle Shop, Oxton in Birkenhead. Appearance - it’s a gusher. What’s left does settle into a hazy golden colour with a decent head. Nose - big elderflower but it doesn’t quite hide the wild yeast sorbet tang. Taste - ekderflower and more lemon sorbet. Palate - light bodied with a tangy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Not right though. Overall - clear there is a yeast infection here so will need to try again on cask as it wasn’t as the brewer would’ve intended.

Liverpool Organic Imperial Russian Stout
500ml bottle picked up in Crosby, drank at home in Richmond as ’Liverpool Organic Imperial Russian Stout’, 7.5%, BB Dec 2016. Black, opaque with a big foamy dense brown head, leaving thick lacing. Aroma reminds me of being in clubs as a teenager - sort of like Red Bull soaked into a well-trodden carpet, spicy Aftershock shots. I would say it’s nostalgic, but that’s not true. Body is quite light, smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is thin sugary malt, tangy red berry and booze that suggests it’s stronger than it is, some resin. It’s not bad really - it’s just one of those sweet old school malty stouts that will hopefully soon be superseded by the new wave. Malty, a bit spicy, molasses, some booze, not enough bitterness. It grew on me and it’s very drinkable for the ABV in fairness.

500ml bottle, chilled, poured into a pint glass at home. Cloudy dark brown colour with minimal tan head, looks like chocolate in a glass; chocolate, coffe and roasty nose; bitter taste; milk chocolate with a hint of caramel palate leading to a bitter finish. Not bad, but given the reviews I was expecting more.

Butelka 500ml. Czarne o szczatkowej brazowej pianie. Aromat kawy czekolady lukrecji i palonych cukrow. W smaku podobnie . Kawa i czekolada. Alkohol w tle nie przeszkadza. Po glebszym zastanowieniu stwierdzam ze w glebi wyczuc mozna lekki zapach kuwety lub moczu. Ogolnie ok ale wrazenie zapachowe psuje powyzsze.

Cask. Pours reddish brown with no head to speak of. Aroma biscuity with some dark fruit. Tastes better than it look although there’s a flat end of barrel air to it. But the malts are toasted and the plum notes are modestly there.
