Back Forty Paw Paw’s Peach Wheat
Can. Pours a rather wild looking pale straw yellow body with a very large fizzy white head. Takes a while for the head to die down, but it does eventually. The nose is pretty interesting, it smells rather dry, while I was expecting something very candy sweet. Light natural peach with a light pale malt and wheat base. The flavor is a little lacking, it’s rather light and thin. Some light peach, and some dry wheat and bready maltiness. The body and mouthfeel are quite thin and very fizzy. Perhaps a bit overly fizzy, I really need to swirl this around to off-gas some of this CO2. Meh, not a winner for me.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, at pre HBF2017 Saturday tasting, thanks VastActiv) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, grass, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A quite bitter pale ale. Decent.

11/20/16. On tap at Craft on Draft, I think? Maybe a can. Cool can, disappointing beer. Black pour with a small tan head. Mild peanut aroma, mostly stout aspects. Roasted malt flavor, coffee and chocolate, a touch thin and watery, mild peanut flavor. Eh.

Back Forty Naked Pig is an excellent pale with a little extra. Pours a hazy orange-yellow with frothy head. Aroma is peppery and tropical. Taste is tropical, peppery with a bit of funk -- just enough to make it interesting. Naked Pig might not be wearing any clothes but it certainly packs a surprise.

First of all, I’d be very surprised if this is 8%. Seemed to clock in somewhere in the low 6% area. Secondly, I like coffee stouts, but I like them to be really coffee-y. There is some coffee, some vanilla, some burnt toast. So the coffee is there, just not as much as I like.

At the 2016 Knoxville Brewer’s Jam. This was odd. First of all, it wasn’t brown. It was more of a dark orange. secondly, it wasn’t overly sweet or malty, more light bodied and citrusy. I almost think I was given the wrong beer...

Rating #2268 - 2015.12.19 - Bottle #19 in the 2015 Craft BeerAdvent Calendar Beautiful dark brown pour with a fairly foamy tan head with mild lacing. Aroma is coffee, roasted barley, mild alcohol, lots of espresso earthy notes on the palate. Medium-heavy alcohol warmth but not ultra boozy on the palate. Love the un-shy coffee forwardness, and the sweet molassesy notes that linger.

Sadly, just another bland American Wheat Ale with some added peach.
