Arcadia MI-Berry Vice
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 5/23/2017. Pours slightly hazy deep ruby red/amber/light purple color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big juicy blueberry, raspberry, cherry, plum, apricot, pear, apple, wheat, cracker, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of berries, bready malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy blueberry, raspberry, cherry, plum, apricot, pear, apple, wheat, cracker, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/grassy/spicy bitterness and tangy fruit tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of blueberry, raspberry, cherry, plum, apricot, pear, apple, wheat, cracker, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of berries, bready malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/tartness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/tartness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.3%. Overall this is a very nice fruited wheat ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of berries, bready malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, refreshing, and easy to drink with the mildly tart/bitter/drying finish. Great balance between fruit and wheat beer flavors, with nice complimenting yeast fruitiness; and just enough earthy hops for balance. A very enjoyable offering.

Arcadia Sky High Rye
On tap at the source. Part of the large scale brewery road trip. Unfortunate plastic cup. Price you pay to play bags outdoors. Lighter golden color with plenty of white head. Aroma is mostly citrus with maybe a hint of floral. Taste is mostly bitter but has the pleasant grainy spicy notes of rye. Bright and punchy come to mind as adjectives. Ends with a bitter aftertaste that is well executed. Very solid.

12 oz bottle. Pours black and highly carbonated, with a medium tan head. Aroma is sweet molasses and bitter chocolate. Flavor is very chocolaty with a slight boozy bite, which is a surprise as this is not especially high ABV.

10oz chalice at the Kalamazoo brewpub. Beautiful looking brew - deep brownish red with small pale pink head. Aroma dominated by mixed berry and tart fruit notes with a touch of earth. Taste is tart fresh berry mix up front transitioning to a pleasingly dry finish with clean natural fruit and faint earth emerging at the end. I was expecting something sweet and candy-like but this is refined, bursting with real tart fruit tastes. Very enjoyable brew.

Coconut galore! Pours almost black w/ a tan head & a lot of lacing. The aroma is dominated by the coconut. The flavor has a hint of sweetness up front & then finished w/ an over the top amount of coconut. Not bad but certainly a 1 trick pony!

Arcadia Mango Suprise IPA
Lots of citrus aromas - grapefruit, mango, pineapple. A litter bread. Color is a cloudy yellow amber with a small off-white head. Taste is dry and fairly bitter. Palate is nice - crisp and clean with slightly lively carbonation. Works well with the fruit. Alcohol is not overly prominent. Finish is long starting with citrus fruits and then bitterness and crisp carbonation. Oval good fruit IPA with a bike balance of fruit, hops a day a clean crisp mouthfeel.

Arcadia Nut Brown Ale
Poured into a mug, the appearance was dark brown color with a fingerís worth of white foamy head that swiftly dissipated. Some lace, and somewhat stringy. The aroma had some sweet nuts, somewhat roasty, some dark fruits, light earthiness, some cocoa powder, woodiness, and a little bit of basement but not funky. The flavor blended all of the previously mentioned aromas together somewhat sweet with a mild roast rolling in underneath. Aftertaste was malty with the nuts and some light caramel now. Finish was semi-sweet slight sticky but acceptable. The feel was roughly medium bodied with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, pretty good brown ale that I think I could come back to.

Arcadia IPA
Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a semi-hazy golden color with a finger and a halfís worth of white frothy head. Sly lace. The aroma had a bright citrusy hop burst over some earthy hop bitterness. Light leafy dryness with a little bit of floral to herbal character. The flavor dryly leaned towards the sweet side in a malty sort of way. Hop tones seem a bit dispersed to allow the malt base become a bit sturdier and run throughout the aftertaste. Slight malty sort of finish. The feel was almost medium bodied with a good carbonation about it. ABV felt as appropriate. Fairly smooth along my tongue. Overall, seemed more of an English styled IPA to me and came across pretty clean and would be well done if thatís what Arcadia intended.

Arcadia Anglers Ale
Poured into an English pint glass, the appearance was a burnt dark copper color with a thin foamy fingerís worth of head. Slowly fell off to leave some stringy lace. The aroma had some herbal to floral hop qualities flowing into a light biscuit-like malt base. Light toast and leather play with the caramel malt base. The flavor was moderately sweet with a sturdy leafy dryness to slide into the aftertaste and cling in the finish. The feel was almost medium bodied but sat just a tad underneath. Some carbonation was felt but nothing to distract from the style. ABV felt appropriate. Overall, Iíd say pretty good English pale ale that I could have again but also probably would be better on cask and would most likely even be better with some fish ní chips.

Sometimes, I just disagree with ratebeer and critics in general. I would drink one of these or an Oberon everyday of the summer, and for me because I donít drink beer super often if I would turn to this regularly that matters. The flavor and aromas are just really pleasant. Itís a really nice beer for me.

12 oz. bottle to a Czech-pils glass at home, showing a black/brown hue, with slight ruby highlighting at the pour, frothy, tan head foam that became persistently rocky, and ribbons & spots of lacing. The nose was roasted, malty, mocha notes that were more cocoa than coffee, with coconut & vanilla hints. Medium bodied, with decent carbonation, the taste lead with coconut, then followed with similar notes as the aroma, a little tartness & tanginess that was slightly tempered by a touch of creaminess, modest roasted & earthy bitterness, and light dryness to the finish. Nicely drinkable Porter with a tropical edge.

Arcadia Bourbon Barrel Shipwreck Porter (2011-)
The Twelve Beer of my #6000 celebration (#12 of 13 - six beers on either side of 6000 and the milestone itself). Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall light brown head that fades relatively quickly. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, light chocolate, bourbon, oak, vanilla, tobacco, caramel and a light dose of soy sauce. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong roasty flavour with a great chocolate flavour along with some cacao power, toffee, pit fruits, oak, vanilla and some smooth coffee notes near the end. Aftertaste is robust and very complex with some tobacco coupled with a lot of caramelised sugar notes, pit fruits and the oak really lengthens out the flavour with vanilla, bourbon and some smooth malt and peat notes. Overall, a very nice beer with a great flavour and smooth and deep complexity that hits all the right notes; If there was one thing Iíd complain about, itís the body which is a touch thin for the style, but the complexity and flavours more than make up for it. Nice to sample, and the time in the bottle probably helped out this one a bit. I sampled this foil topped, twelve ounce bottle purchased from Seaway Party Store in Grand Haven, Michigan on 09-September-2015 for US$8,49 sampled at home in Washington as #6005 as my #6000 beer celebration on 28-March-2017.

Arcadia Mango Suprise IPA
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 2/23/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big mango, melon, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper/pine, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops, mango, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big mango, melon, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of mango, melon, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon/orange rind, pepper, pine, bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical hops, mango, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness; a touch of hop/fruit astringency near the end of the glass, but not overwhelming. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resin/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.5%. Overall this is a very nice fruited IPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical hops, mango, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink; despite the increasingly bitter/drying finish. Very dank/juicy on hops with balanced mango fruit; and just enough malt for balance. A very enjoyable offering.
