Arcadia Sky High Rye
Slightly cloudy gold beer with a medium foamy bright white head. Nose of orange pith, pine resin, and herbs. Flavor is fairly dry with a musky dough-like core, followed by some spice and finishing with a slightly astringent, waxy bitterness. Pretty good.

Bottle. A clear golden pour with white head, Light aroma of sour grain, pine, slight grass and biscuit. Taste was a mix of sour bread, dough, some slight grass, lemon, finishing slightly bitter. I have been too spoiled by all the great NE IPA's I've been having. I could not finish this.

Pours the exact color of coffee with a thin white head. Tastes like an iced coffee with a little smokiness. A good coffee porter.

Arcadia Sky High Rye
Average red In honor of our adventurous friends at Sky Dive Inc. in Hastings, Michigan, we crafted a truly adventurous brew in Sky High Rye. A West Coast-style Pale Ale with rye malt, Sky High Rye boasts a massive floral aroma of resinous hops. The hops contribute flavor notes of lemons, peaches, and pine needles, combined with the sweet, malty flavors of toffee and bread. Rye adds a pleasant peppery, spicy note like a fresh slice of pumpernickel bread. Very well-rounded and very drinkable, Sky High Rye will surely inspire adventure in all who taste it. This West Coast-style Pale Ale is brewed with eighty percent English barley malts and twenty percent rye malt. It boasts a massive floral aroma of resinous hops, contributing notes of lemons, peaches and pine needles and is anchored by the sweet malty flavors of toffee and freshly baked pumpernickel bread. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From Jan 2008 I got this bottle in a trade with Wasatch. Thanks John! This one pours from 22oz bottle a hazy deep gold with about a 1" head of foam and plenty of nice lacing. The smell is pretty hoppy with some notes of malt and a weird nose that reminds me of iodine.(I know it's the pine but I'm sticking to what I said) The taste on first sip has a nice malt to hops balance and is pretty nice but....the iodine smell that I noted is in the taste as well. Hopefully, after a few more sips, I won't notice it as much or it'll just go away. After a few more sips...no. It's still there and I'm not liking that one bit. :^( I guess I'm not a fan of really "piney" beers. Not recommended based on this sample.

Arcadia Barrel Aged Cereal Killer
12 ounce bottle into snifter, 2017 vintage bottling. Pours hazy dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the lace cap. Aromas of huge caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, coconut, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, cherry, date, red apple, and red grape; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, molasses, rum, leather, tobacco, sherry, red wine, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and bourbon barrel notes; with big strength. Taste of huge caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, coconut, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, cherry, date, red apple, and red grape; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, molasses, rum, leather, tobacco, sherry, red wine, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light herbal hop bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, coconut, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, dark fruit, cherry, apple, light chocolate/cocoa, rum, leather, tobacco, sherry, red wine, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/silky, and slightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is extremely well hidden; zero warming alcohol or barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an awesome barrel aged English barleywine! All around excellent complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Definitely an improvement over the base beer, but not by a huge margin. Pretty much perfectly balanced fruity yeast and malt complexity. Awesome bourbon barrel integration; never boozy, tannic, or overly drying. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

bottle. near black with small head. huge coffee aroma. smells really nice. the flavor carries this on. it's almost more of a coffee drink with some beer elements than the reverse. very dry, acidic, finish is almost tart. i'm not a huge coffee guy, but i like the addition of coffee to beer. this seems to take it a bit too far. the lingering acidity is slightly unpleasant to my tastes.

Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is fresh coffee, roasted malt, slight chocolate, no lactose sweetness which is great. Appearance is dark brown, quickly dissipating light brown head, opaque. Taste is fresh coffee, chocolate, slightly acidic, roasted malt, a little disappointing. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light to medium carbonation, roasty coffee acidic aftertaste. Overall, the smell is good but it falls off from there.

Arcadia Morning Nightcap
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 9/22/2017. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of smoke, vanilla, cream, dark fruit, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of smoke, vanilla, cream, dark fruit, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal hop and roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, light vanilla/smoke, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance, zero cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Minimal dryness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly silky/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.4%. Overall this is an excellent coffee porter! All around great dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter finish. Nicely rich for the modest ABV. Really great fruity/nutty coffee vibrancy; with perfectly balanced malts. Very well rounded on complexity, never overly roasty or bitter. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Arcadia Starboard Stout
From May 2007 Compliments of jwc215. Thanks, Joe! This pours from 12oz bottle almost a pitch black with a small head of foam that shrinks quickly to a few islands and it has some good lacing. The smell is very sweetish. I'm getting sweet malt and some raosted malt. The taste at first hits me with a lot of sweetness but that is taken over almost immediately by an oat and a roasted malt flavour and...there's something in the taste that is really a sour bitter. It's distracting me from enjoying this brew as much as I should be able to. More sips in and nothing is changing. I *will* say that the finish ends up on a semisweet note and is nice but that distraction that I mentioned is going to knock off some points in the taste department. Too bad.

Arcadia London Porter
From Dec 2006 Poured from 12oz bottle(conditioned) a dark brown with a very large head of tannish foam. That eventually winds down to a solid layer and lots of lacing hugging the glass. The smell is really nice. There's sweet malt and a fruitiness that I can't quite put my finger on but it goes well with the malt, for sure. The taste on first sip...there's that fruitiness! Sour cherries, my palate yells out, and sweet and roasted malt. Dang. Further sips verify the fact that the flavours are working very well together and then there's a touch of bitterness along with a dash of alcohol in the finish. It's *quite* warming and pleasant. Good stuff! PS: I haven't had that many Baltic Porters but this is quite a tasty example. I recommend it! Thanks to Nutbrown for this sample!

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy yellow gold color with a huge foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy with orange, lemon band a touch if grapefruit. The flavor was bitter and tart with lemon, chalk and perfume. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.

Tap at MBGC. Pours deep brown, ring of white head peripherally. Aroma is vinegar sour brown notes, barrel character, bourbon, toffee, vanilla. Lovely. Flavor is bourbon, slightly tart vinegar undertones, booze, vanilla toffee. The bourbon dominates and the oud bruin undertones compliment it well. Still a bit sweet and intense for me to do more than a taster. Some medium acidity to it. Solid but the more I drink, the lower the rating gets. There's a weird sharp burn in the back that isn't pleasant. Poor aftertaste and the bourbon plus acidity is a bit odd. Still worth trying.

Dark malt amber with an imbued hue of dark red producing a creamy head. Aromas hay, caramel, light toffee, candy sugar/brown sugar and some toasty/nutty. Flavors light brown sugar, light toffee/caramel, lightly nutty. Lightly sweet with just a slight roasty aftertaste. Has some subtle complexities to it that make the style.

Where Purchased: ?ml (12 OZ WTF is that) bottle from the Meijer Consumed: from the bottle Aroma: Smells sweet, spicy and pumpkins. Appearance : not to sure. Drank from bottle. Taste: starts off sweet with some spices, but finishes with a real strong ginger taste. Palate : medium body. Bitter aftertaste. Good carbonation. Overall: First of all this is not my favourite style of beer. This one smelled great, but finished bitter and more like a ginger beer. I was glad to try but will not buy again. MB. The Beer "Bear"on.

Blind tasted with 3 other fruited berliner weisses, beers were: 1. Arcadia MI-Berry Vice 2. Mikkeller San Diego Fruit Face - Raspberry Coffee / Blush 3. Fordham The 11th Sour 4. The Dudes Juicebox Series: Peach Berliner Weisse. Rater 1 rated the beers 1342, Rater 2 (ME):3412, Rater 3: 4312.

355ml bottle.Berry-hued pour. Aroma is straight up cream of wheat berry yogurt. Flavor is sweet berry, very little lacto tartness, more fruit tartness.

Post tasting thoughts:
This one was flavorful and good, but not hugely berliner-like.

Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is fruity, pine, floral hops, caramel malt, like a blend between an ESB and an APA. Appearance is amber golden, light tan head, somewhat hazy or unfiltered. Taste is bitter, pine, caramel, citrus rind, floral, it's a bitter with extra hops. Mouthfeel is light body, light to medium crisp carbonation, bitter pine and caramel aftertaste. Overall, it's quite quaffable, and easily the best of the style I've had thus far.

Arcadia Mango Suprise IPA
On draft at Dan's Downtown Tavern. The pour is a darker golden orange with a lighter tan head and a good bit of lace. This just doesn't seem to work very well. The aroma is very malty and sweet. Just what everyone wants in their IPAs. There is pretty much no mango to this one, which sucks. There is a strong breadiness and a biscuit. The flavor is much of the same. The lack of fruit is incredible. What the hell Arcadia?! The malts are huge and sweet with a strong breadiness. This just isn't good. The mouth feel is a little syrupy and heavy with a soft carbonation and a lingeringly malty and overly sweet fruit and malty balance. This is garbage. 5 4 5 3 12
