Toppling Goliath Morniní Delight
Bottle. Batch 3. Pours Pitch black with a brown head. Aroma of fresh ground coffee, maple, vanilla, roasted malts, slight weak smoke, slight "green" coffee as well. fruity espresso, caramel and brown sugar. Taste is much more roasted than the aroma. Some maple syrup, ground coffee, vanilla, green bitter coffee, dry cocoa beans and weak caramel. Itís overall a very good beer I think it is safe to say that I was let down by this beer. It smells amazing but I donít follow the extreme hype on this one. Maybe I got the wrong batch?

From bottle. Batch #3. Finally got to try this! Pours a pitch black with a nice, tan head. Aroma has a complete shit ton of coffee! Nice, toasty maple syrup, super roasty, light hop presence, green coffee. Taste is surprisingly unsweet. Lots of bitter roast, bitter coffee, intense lakritol-like licorice. Pretty spicy, lots of maple flavor but very little of the sweetness. Bitter, roasty after taste. Makes me realize that i didnít really knew what to expect from this beer, haha! Somewhat full body and a medium low carbonation. Really good stout, but donít get the hype on this one.

Bottle @ Mikkeller Bar, Aarhus. Pours hazy to muddy orange with a white head. Herbal green hops and yeast. Dry and bitter. Grassy , melon and over the top herbal note plus a tad too yeasty. Raw bitter finish. Completely agree on this one Mr. Orla.

Canned. Almost a year old, canned December 15, 2016. Oops. Pours a clear golden beer with a nice, medium sized bright white head on top. Aroma is fairly ok, some fruity stuff going, apples, pears and grapes, alongside some nice yeasty funk. Flavor is slightly acidic, could be the age, could also be the yeast. Has a long, light acidic aftertaste, while being fairly juicy as well with some hoppy presences. Nice level of carbonation going on. OK beer, but not too impressed before I get one fresh.

On Draught
Pours pitch black with a big tan head that fizzles out in reasonably short order.

The aroma is sweet & rich... Peaty, & smoky with some mild woodiness, honey, & chocolate.

Flavor is rich & sweet... Itís got honey, some roasty bitterness, a big smoky, iodine-y, peaty, & earthy malt character akin to a Islay scotch. The woodiness is reasonably subtle but itís part of the mix. Itís chocolaty with a mild toasted marshmallow thing happening. A touch astringent at moments but enjoyable to be sure.

Not sure what I was expecting here. Typically Oaked anything IPA is not going to work Well. Upon pouring, An Amber color. On first taste a bit of hops and then the malt and peated oak hits you. Maybe a bit of eye in there as well. Not bad but interesting beer for sure.

Bottle @ From Mikkeller Ňrhus. Pours cloudy orange with a white head. Aroma of pine, orange, mandarin, some perfumed foral notes - urinal ball, quite grassy, gasolin. Taste is heavy bitter, quite sweet body beneath the heavy resin and bitternes - loads of resin and pine, citrus and manadrain, a semi peppery / herbal thing, which doesnít suit it. Very dry and bitter.

0.65 bottle.
A hazy, gold, honey-like color with a large, white head leaving some lacing. Aroma of pines, hops, flowers, citruses, and a bit of mango. Taste is moderately bitter but countered by a fruity sweetness, hops still dominate the experience but floral and fruity notes become more salient. A full body, a creamy texture, and a soft carbonation. Finish is long and bitter though not excessively so, there is no lingering astringency. Overall the beer is good, leaning in the direction of IPAs with its heavy hop profile, but still retaining some characteristics of an APA.

22 oz bottle poured. Much thanks to Pruf for the bottle! Always a treat to try some TG. Pours a creamy, cloudy golden orange, with a ton of loose foam head and lacing. Very fresh aroma of mixed orange fruit, and an impressionable hop profile. Cool and creamy flavor, with hops, a soft bready note, gentle orange peel bitterness, and a cool juicy finish. Steady grain and juicy hop linger forever. A unique, very tasty pale here. Delicious. Easy drinking. Refreshing. Put this in cans, and Iíll drink this all day.

Draft at the source. Barrel 1B fwiw. Hard to drive hype with a simple indexing scheme for the barrels -- need special code names or something so I can figure out which barrels I should call in sick for. Deep thick stouty pour with a ring of fine dark mocha bubbles. Aroma: loads of brown sugar, caramel, and soy sauce. I assume this is gonna be one sweet and rich mother of a beer. Thereís roast, bordering on smokiness. Chocolate is subdued -- mostly just sweet dark toasty marshmallow soy sauce. Not in a bad way. This is rich and intense, not unlike the many other rich and intense ba stouts out there. Warming alcohol lingers. Slick viscous texture, average carbonation. Overall: cool beer, fun to grab one of thsee imperial beasts here on draft at the source. Iím hard-wired to dig these kinds of beers.

650ml bottle from Discount in Waukesha, shared with the big boys. Cloudy yellowish pour, "east coast style" E would say. Aroma has big hops, grass, citrus.Lovely! PseudoSue plus ... Taste is of sweet fruits, big citrus, light pine and light caramel. Fruity hoppy, without the grassy promise of the nose. Still tasty. Medium bodied. The blend is good. The carbonation is constant. There is little alcohol presence. Finish is sweeter than bittersweet. Wow! Not expecting something this good. Very nice! 16

Bottle from a trade. A little over a month old. Pours hazy yellow orange with a white head. Aroma of mango, pineapple, citrus, crisp citra hops, pine, orange, apricot and some very weak malty notes in the back. Taste is hops forward with a nice tropical flavor. Orange, mango, pineapple, pine, loads of crisp citra with a juicy crushable mouthfeel. No hint of alcohol. A nice DIPA which is somewhat "oldschool" compared to all the new england beers but it still has some of that extreme fruity- and juiciness to it along with the more punchy hoppy and pine notes. I dig it! One of the best Dipas Iíve had for sure!

Bomber, undated, drunk 11/17/16.
Clear straw, pale golden bidy topped by a large white head with strong retention.
Simcoe? Centennial? I dont know but theres a big cherry-melon character with peach and pine behind it. Doesnt smell resinous or anything. I do get a little plasticy yeast or dustiness. Not massively aromatic but competently hopped. Bread dough, honey and cake icing, lightly, sit behind it. No alcohol.
The first sip provides a lot of syrupy honey....further sips add light toast, dough and marmalade. Extremely low bitterness and only mildly fruity, lightly grassy and herbal hop notes. Carbonation is very tight and engaging, mitigating the sweetness as best it can, but even after four or five ounces, I already know the end is near. Just too damned sweet, like many of their beers. Perhaps past its prime? The carbonation is still very nice but Iíll never know since they canít be bothered to date their bottles. Lots of lingering powdered sugar-like notes are very odd.

Aroma - ripe herbal, resin, citrus, and floral hops. The citrus holds a mix of tropical fruit to include elements of lemon, pineapple, peach, and starfruit. Appearance - the body is a hazy amber, with some fine sediment. The head is very effusive. Itís challenging to pour, but well worth it. Head is off-white and 2+", and almost never really settles. Stays foamy, and lays fat sud rings throughout. Taste - is an amazing mix of hoppitude. There is citrus flavored hops, resin - reminds me of head band kind-bud, floral, and herbal hops. The citrus offers a mix of lemon, pineapple, and peach like notes. As the beer fades out the vegetal tones rise. The malt is deep below, but caramel in nature. Sound balance. Palate - is on the lighter side of medium, the texture is almost smooth, the carbonation is average,

22 ounce bottle from Badger Spirits in Beloit, WI, served 10 minutes out of the fridge in a 35-year-old Andeker fluted glass picked up recently at Goodwill for .59. Iím sure youíre glad you knew that. Anyway...it pours a pale, hazy champagne-bubbly gold (turns out this glass was appropriate for showing off) with a moderate to large bubbly head, slowly diminishing and leaving fine lacing...really immense citric aroma - bitter orange and grapefruit, light sourdough yeasty qualities, a hint of thyme, a touch of wood smoke; it grows quite a bit more interesting and complex with 5 minutes out of the bottle....on the tongue, moderately sweet and lightly bitter at the front, growing towards a fairly strong bitterness at the finish (though still leavened by a bit of sugar) with cookie dough- sourdough yeastiness apparent throughout, helping to give the body an amazing mix of supple softness and thick fruity-juicy-acidic esters, always within perfect balance - itís just insanely drinkable, with barely a hint of the alcohol, and the most velvety-smooth mouthfeel, coupled with soft, lightly tingly carbonation, imaginable. The only thing I can think of thatís at all problematic is that there is a bit of a burn coming in if you do more than sip slowly, and the alcohol does grow a bit with warmth. But this is pretty terrific stuff all in all and Iím certainly glad I was able to snag a bottle (only one, sadly) locally.

Bottle drunk 11/6/16.
Bright lemon-golden body is topped by a full, white head showing moderate to strong retention. High clarity.
Straightforward Nelson in the nose, but very nicely done, adding bright lemon, limestone, guava and wine-like minerality. It runs in to a lot of malt sweetness; big honey notes, with very light caramel and biscuity notes, as well. Some mild earthiness and no resin, thankfully, nor alcohol.
Very supple, malty body shows quite a bit of sugar still remaining. Itís not underattenuated, but certainly a lot sweeter than the New England IPAs Iím used to drinking (which, understandably, have to be a lot more dry to make up for the fact that theyíre very low on IBUs). Anyways, the beer is still very nicely hopped with lots of wine character, lemon, cherry, strawberry and more limestone. Light earthiness and a touch of dry ash help soak up the malt. No alcohol or flaw.
