Weinfelden Bärlochers Dunkel
(33cl bottle, traded with quack-duck) Clear, mahogany colour with a small, off-white foamy head. Slightly sweet, roasty malty aroma with chocolate and liquorice. Sweet-bitter flavour, medium to light bodied, moderate carbonation. Roast-malty taste with chocolate and liquorice-spice, lingering into the slim and moderately bitter finish. A decent Dunkel.

Weinfelden Bärlochers Winterzauber
(33cl bottle, thanks to quack-duck !) The label says: vintage 2006; probably the last one, because the brewery seems to have been closed at the end of 2006. Hazy, orange colour with a short, non-persistent frothy white head. Dusty and sweet, slightly worty, malty aroma. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Initially malty, slightly worty taste, getting more and more spicy (gingerbread, cinnamon) towards the finish, which is furthermore pretty slim; lasting cinnamon in the aftertaste. Drinkable, but definitely not perfectly rounded.

Weinfelden Bärlochers Spezial
(33cl bottle, received from quack-duck) Clear, yellow colour with a foamy white medium head. Slightly sweet and grainy, strawy malt aroma with a touch of hay and shy herbal hops. Light-sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a crispy mouthfeel. Malt-accented taste, strawy with a tinge of honey; moderately dry, still malty and slightly bitter finish with a rather shy herbal hoppy touch; a metallic tinge disappears after a few sips. Okay but not world shaking.

Weinfelden Bärlochers Bierli
(33cl bottle, traded with quack-duck) This one is my first beer from Switzerland in a decade. Clear, pale golden colour with a rather small foamy white head, leaving some lace. Slightly dusty and light sweet grainy, strawy aroma with citrus elements and herbal hops in the background. Moderately sweet flavoured, light bodied with a crispy, refreshing mouthfeel. Grainy, malt-accented taste; very light bitter, shy hoppy finish with a grainy, straw-like aftertaste. Clean and refreshing Helles.

Weinfelden Bärlochers Dunkel
Strong roasted, coffee aroma. Almost like a stout. Dark brown, small beige head, fair lace. Sweet, light bitter, strong and lasting coffee flavor, light smoked, bit thin (pity). Unlike most other dunkels I’ve ever had.
