Valaisanne Pale Ale

Golden Color, hazy; white & lasting head. Aroma is mostly malty, biscuits, some hints of bread, hay, unobtrusive hops. Taste is slightly sweet at first, turning slightly bitter towards the end. Medium body, soft mouthfeel, average carbonation. Pleasant and well-balanced beer.

Valaisanne Pale Ale
33 cl. bottle at Hotel Le Saint Romain, Romainmotier. Hazy, amber-golden colour with a medium sized, white head. Fruity aroma with caramel malts, sweet fruits, citrus and tangerines. Taste is light bitter. Medium body with a creamy texture and an average carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with sweet exotic fruits and caramel malts. An earthy touch. Too sweet for an APA. Still enjoyable.

33 cl bottle at Hotel Le Saint Romain, Romainmotier. Milky, golden colour with a fluffy, white head. Fruity aroma with citrus, sweet, exotic fruits, wheat malts and a spicy hint. Taste is light sweet. Medium body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes slightly dry and fruity with lingering citrus. Rather tart for a Hefeweizen - this is leaning more towards a Belgian Wit. Still good, trough.

I drank this beer today at the Signal de Bougy. To be honest, it is a drinkable amber beer, nothing more, not that bad, not extraordinary. The color is brown clear, thin and white foam. The taste is watery, discreet malt and small touch of caramel, few bitterness but it is not so sweet, few hop. The thing that it is sad is that we use the name of cardinal and they destroy the place in Fribourg, you finally just pay one name.

Valaisanne Pale Ale
Bottle from Co-op, Geneva. Looks like a pale ale, amber caramel colour, bright, thick white foam. Fairly generic light hop aroma. Actually, fairly generic pale ale flavours. At the sweeter and less hoppy end, some toffee malt, a rather muddled earthy hop which for me could have taken a braver hand with the bitterness. Kind of average.

Bottle. Dirty, slightly malty aroma. Unrefined bitterness that goes all over the place, matching the unrefined aroma that has hints that come and go at will. Freshly carbonated, but that’s about the only good thing to say about this beer. Drinkable.

It is a classical lager. The foam is thin and the carbonation is average, yellow lager colour. We can smell the malt and some industrial hop. It is a nice drink when you make a "biss" in the Valais after a hard day of sport.

Copper color with foam ring. Full, sweet, round and hoppy nose. The taste is a bit flat, has a not so round sweetness and is somewhat disappointing. Sweetish aftertaste.

330ml bottle from Drinks of the World, Basel (3.90 CHF):
Not a bad one despite the brewery, it’s an interesting, fruity take on the hefeweizen style with nice apricot & citrus plus some apricot before the usual wheat beer flavours come through There’s a nice balance, it’s lively & although it’s not one I’d rush back to, it was enjoyable & I’m glad I picked it up in the end.
