Wormtown Be Hoppier IPA
Pours hazy gold into a shaker. Bright white head with medium retention recedes leaving sheet lacing. Sour pit fruit and resin aromas. Sour sweat, turned apricot and stale hops upfront turning to bitter, hot, overripe fruit pits in the lasting finish. Yuck.

Wormtown Bottle Rocket Pale Ale
APPEARANCE- slightly cloudy does not obscure the orangy amber beauty of this pale ale. NOSE- pleasenly hoppy. Flirting with what I expect an ipa to smell like. But sits clearly on the pale ale side. FLAVOR- slight bit of fruity hop at the beginning of the sip. It fills out with a good (but not terribly solid) malt backbone - it’s probably on point for this beer. NOTES- this pale ale walks up to the line of ipa, and stops just short. Well done.

Wormtown Pumpkin
Bottle:   Straw in color, pale haze, thin foamy white head, little lacing.   Lighter for a Pumpkin Ale.   Faint spicy nose, cinnamon and nutmeg.   On the tongue its a bit of a floral aspect, perhaps spiced candle.   Average body and mouthfeel.   Faint spicy finish.   The spices are up front, what little spices there are as the backside is fairly plain.   Very pedestrian, with a candlesque like spiciness.   Thanks Mike!

On tap at brewery. Pours caramel with a medium off-white head. Aroma is sweet malt and some citrus and earth. Taste is caramel malt up front with dull grapefruit, grass, grain, a little bit of pineapple, and a yeasty finish. Very slight bitterness. Fairly weak hop presence for an imperial IPA. Aftertaste is extremely soapy. Light body. Low carbonation. Mouthfeel is thin and a bit oily. A big step down from Be Hoppy.

Wormtown Be Hoppy IPA
Bottle from Table and Vine. Bright gold with chill haze and nice head and lace. Awesome lemony grapefruit floral aroma. Lemony grapefruit and pineapple fruity sweetness with just the slightest touch of honey and grass. Assertive but not overwhelming citrus and spicy bitter dry finish. Medium-light body with soft mouthfeel and fine carbo to accentuate hops. Pretty FUCKING EXCELLENT. Definitely a top IPA. Bought one for my wife, too, but, alas, she is not here right now so . . . don’t tell her.

Wormtown Be Hoppy IPA
Bottle from some place in Randolph, MA. Resinous, pungent cat pee and pineapple aroma with faint base malt in the background. Almost clear dark gold under a persistent, white flannel blanket. Sweet base malt flavour at first, followed by bitter, pungent cat pee, tropical and stone fruit hops at an assertive level. Medium light body, medium carbonation, crisp. Lingering bitterness.

Wormtown Be Hoppier IPA
Bottled 7/20/16, drunk 8/31/16.
High clarity to the peachy-golden, lightly copper-tinged body with a medium-sized, off-white head atop showing moderate retention. Sediment left behind in the bottle.
Pretty standard West Coast rendition featuring a guest appearance by some juiciness (rather brief). Cherries, ruby red grapefruit, spicy orange and light pineapple with a bit of excess pine on the very end, though it’s not obnoxiously excessive. Malts show biscuit, light honey-caramel and are seemingly well-attenuated. Maybe just a touch of alcohol graces the finish, as well. The beer is clean.
Expected citrus and light tropical fruit notes in the flavor, as orange, cherry and ruby red grapefruit dominate, though allow minor pineapple/peach notes, as well. There’s definitely a good deal of bitterness, too much for my weak palate but some substantial maltiness does help mitigate this somewhat. Carbonation is low but fairly engaging, sweetness is low to moderate and a good deal of grapefruit and pine bitterness lingers with light alcohol. Nothing interesting/exciting/particularly well-done here, but if you want a standard West Coast DIPA, this is competent.

Hazy gold beer, tidy white head. Palate is light and dry. Reasonable fine carbonation. Mildly sweet pale malts. Floral bitter hop dominates, a modicum of orangey citrus. Trace of lemon before a light dry bitterish finish. In some ways quite English. Standard stuff.

16oz can. This is exactly what a well-executed IPA should be. There’s a ton of hop aroma, a moderately-high, firm bitterness, and a restrained malt backbone. It’s less hazy, juicy, or sweet than some of the more famous Massachusetts breweries (I’m looking at you, Tree House), but it has the "classic IPA" profile nailed.

Might be the best Hefe I’ve tried. Some banana and vague dark fruit in the nose. The flavor is much bigger, a bit tart and leans heavy on vanilla and clementine balanced against the fruity spicy character of the yeast. Light but not thin, very crisp and refreshing, low DMS.

The aroma of fresh pine, juice, citrus- a beautiful melody- is carried over well into the body. Softened out by a light malt mouthfeel and weight. Very solid beer. One of the best MA IPAs though not as hyped.

12 oz bottle. Purchased at Leary’s. Hazy orange in color, with full, fluffy head. Aroma is weak floral and grassy hints. Pale grain and white bread.

Flavor has a pale grain backbone. Weak citrus and light grass. The grassy bitterness is slightly lingering after the sip. However, it shows a lot of malt. This is a classic example of the style even if it is a bit dated and a tad boring.

Wormtown Be Hoppy IPA
