The Kernel Pale Ale Pacifica Citra
September 2017 - 500ml bottle at home in Richmond as 'The Kernel Pale Ale Pacifica Citra', 5.3%, about 6 weeks since bottling. Pours a murky matte orange-brown in normal light, vibrant orange to light, sparkling, foamy white head doesn't last, some dotted lacing. Aroma is tangerine, guava, grapefruit peel. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation. Taste is minerally, wet pebbles and limestone, floral, a little biscuity malt, trace of pine, crisp and clean into the finish. A good, clean APA. Got a slight cold so I might not be doing this justice. (7-4-7-4-15=3.7)

The Kernel Export Stout London 1890
Bottle at Sourced Market, Victoria. Sweet coffee fruity aroma. Dark and glossy. Thick beige head. Light bitter with a sour berry edge. Sugary coffee. Much smoother than the flat white I just had. Thick bodied. Slick and creamy. Average carbonation. Low key finish. For the ABV this is a really light, easily drinkable, stout. Good stuff.

The Kernel India Pale Ale Mosaic Zeus
Bottle at home from The Cage. A huge amount of crud at the bottom of the bottle that I only just avoided and a deep, dark golden colour in the glass. The nose was all bitter hops and this continued in the flavour. The hop bitterness was quite extreme and was aggressive on the palate. The beer actually improved alongside food (some very nice sausages that we met as pigs only 2 weeks ago - how's that for provenance) as it softened the flavours. I may not know much, but to me this is a DIPA and it's richness and hop complexity is crying out to be drunk alongside food in the same way as a wine.

The Kernel India Pale Ale Hallertau Blanc Citra
September 2017 - 330ml bottle at home in Richmond as 'The Kernel India Pale Ale Hallertau Blanc Citra', 7.1%, 2 months since bottling. Pours a hazy orange gold, lightly sparkling with a foamy off-white head that leaves some light lacing. Aroma is airy, faint wine gums and a touch of celery. Muted. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation. Taste is sugared melon, touches of grapefruit and pine, dusty and dry throughout but always quite muted. Long floral finish. Quite quenching and 'clean' but the flavour never really gets going. Decent enough IPA. (6-4-6-4-15=3.5)

The Kernel India Pale Ale Mosaic Simcoe Equanot
September 2017 - 330ml bottle at home in Richmond as 'The Kernel India Pale Ale Mosaic Simcoe Equanot', 7.0%, nearly 3 weeks since bottling. Pours pretty clear golden, lightly sparkling with a head that diminishes to nothing quickly. Aroma is damp straw, hay and some floral soap up front. Tropical fruit as it drains. Body is smooth with soft to tingly carbonation. Taste is astringent straw, little dusty bitterness, lightly floral, dry and hoppy with a crisp finish. Something not quite singing (a bit on the 'gloopy' side possibly?) but still a nice IPA. (7-3-8-4-15=3.7)
