Upham Winter's T'Ale
Cask at Westgate, Winchester. Smells I like fish, but to be fair I suspect that was an overly powerful background aroma. Chestnut. Thin translucent white head. Really low key bitter. Some caramel and malts. But spice? Where? Light. Thin. Average carbonation. Long low key finish. Fails to deliver. Tedious.

330ml green bottle in some supermarket in Romsey. Wyglad niepozorny bo zielone szklo prosta etykieta, przypominalo lagera przemyslowego.

A pleasant and refreshing pale ale, heavily floral with twangs of lavander on the palate, which give way to a lingering and sublimely bitter aftertaste.

Upham Fields Of Gold
July 2017 - cask handpull at The Crosse Keys London as Upham Fields of Gold, 3.8%. Golden yellow, translucent and still with a creamy white head that endures and leaves thick lacing. Aroma is airy with some lemongrass and citrus, elderflower. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is biscuity, crackers, breathy floral hop presence in the background but this beer is about light biscuity malt. Lemongrass astringency builds over time. Crisp finish over the first few sips building to a more musty lingering finish over time. Classic golden ale but doesn’t distinguish itself from the crowd. (6-4-6-4-13=3.3)

A light, golden Craft Beer. Produced recently a ’special’. It is not over bitter or ’hoppy’. I am not an expert on beers, but do feel this one is worth a go as it is very drinkable and at the floral / citrus/ vanilla end of the spectrum. A good intro for the summer season to come (he says hopefully).

September 17, 2015 - at The Porterhouse (Covent Garden); handpull cask. With harrisoni and lagerloather. Confusing bloody pump clip said "Give it a Try" and I spent way too much time looking for a beer called that. This is refractive slightly amber gold with a decent creamy beige head. Sweet and simple but clean aroma of heather and honey, not much alcohol (I put that in a lot of my ratings over here). Taste follows, more grain - airy, chewy, light body, finishes quick with a somewhat sweet aftertaste.

Cask at the Foresters, Church Crookham. Slight bitter aroma. Bright amber. Thick creamy head. Umami taste. Then sweetness comes in and gradually increases. Medium bodied. Velvety soft. Short finish, with a slightly astringent aftertaste. Overall I really rated this bitter.

Kinda pukey sweet aroma. Caramelly malts. Flat sweet palate. Caramelly body. Some sticky resiny bitterness. Something not right with this one, and some of the issues don’t seem to be serving flaws.

The beer is clear brown with small head. Aroma has some flowers, delicate honey, old bread, toast, sugar. Watery with delicate carbonation. Another English thirst quencher without complexity but with quite satisfying malt backbone. Still nothing amazing.

500ml dark bottle, filtered, from Tesco. This is quite a rich bitter, with good chocolate notes. There’s some lingering tobacco flavoured bittering hops, but this is more about the malt, so it’s my sort of beer. There is a lack of character about the beer - it’s fairly clean, flat, and lacking in interest, and it’s under-carbonated which simply emphasises its lack of life, but the robust chocolate malt goes a little way toward compensating. I quite liked this, but can’t see myself getting excited about drinking another one.
