Funky Buddha Maple Bacon Coffee Porter
Dark beer with some mahogany highlights. Thin beige head. Initial maple frosting nose that settled into a nice sweet coffee. Rich flavor of sweetened coffee, maple doughnut frosting, and a little smoke in the finish. Damn nice beer.

Funky Buddha Butta Cup
22 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown color and topped by a small layer of tan colored foam that shows good retention before settling to a thin film. The aroma shows note of chocolate, peanut butter, toasted nuts, and a toasted caramel malt base. The flavor follows suit with notes of milk chocolate, toasted nuts, peanut butter, and caramel malts. The peanut butter flavor is more muted than aroma. Medium bodied with ample carbonation that leads to a chocolate and nutty finish. Fairly sweet but not overly so, but definitely not as good as what Don’t tell Reese was before they scaled up the batch to this size.

Funky Buddha Barrel-Aged Chocwork Orange
22 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown almost black in color and crowned by a small layer of tan colored foam that settles in nicely to a thin film and leaves streaks of lace around the glass. The aroma is nice showing notes of smooth dark chocolate, orange zest, bourbon, toasted caramel, lactose, and oak laden vanilla. There is a just a touch of roast in there to try and balance things out. The flavor follows suit with the dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and a huge wave of juicy orange to go with soft oaky bourbon, vanilla, and some light earthy bitterness on the back end that tries to keep the sweetness in check. Nearly full bodied and slick on the palate with soft carbonation that leads to a lengthy dark chocolate and orange finish that lingers for awhile. I’m not big on the chocolate orange candy, but this is pretty tasty stuff. The adjuncts feel a little artificial for sure, but either way it is a solid beer. The barrel aging adds another level without going overboard. Really enjoyed this one.

Funky Buddha Hop Stimulator
It pours cloudy deep golden orange with a large, pillow white head that has long lasting head retention. It has strong hop aromas that feature citrus, grapefruit, and a low level of stone fruit. The flavors are strong with hops and citrus and grapefruit flavors with floral and stone fruit in addition to the main hops. There is also a slight background on bread. It is highly bitter in the finish which is long lasting. Overall, an extremely hop driven beer.

Funky Buddha Last Buffalo in the Park
Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Aroma has moderate coconut and coffee notes. Light chocolate, nuts and roast. Medium light roast notes with some alcohol spice. Pours black with a small, thick, light tan head that recedes to the edges where it lingers. Light lacing and moderate legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with chocolate, coffee and coconut notes. Some medium light roast notes. Moderate bitterness and medium light alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied and a bit oily with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent beer, but its a bit too nutty and roasty. The coconut and chocolate are nice, but the coffee is a bit strong. Needs to have a fuller mouthfeel as well.

Backlog, shared by a friend. Poured dark black with a tanned head. Nose is loaded with coconut, charred coconut, roasted malts, dark chcolate, coffee creamer, bourbon barrel adds a light smoothness and char notes, sweet caramel. The amount of "fake" coconut is so big it’s almost tasting artificial, not sure, i liked it but somehow i think their quality went down a little

Funky Buddha Barrel-Aged French Toast Double Brown
Aroma is nutty and toasty malt notes with some cinnamon. Faint syrup and vanilla notes. Some light alcohol spice. Pours dark brown with a small, medium thick, light tan head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers for a bit. Light lacing and moderate legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with quite a bit of sugar. Some toasted bread and nut notes. Some light dark fruit notes. Some light alcohol spice. Quite a bit of cinnamon. Medium low bitterness with lingering cinnamon and chocolate notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, its really too thin for the beer. Lots of cinnamon, but the other adjuncts are very weak. Malt profile is decent, but the heat is not good.

Funky Buddha Last Buffalo in the Park
On draft at Florida Cracker Kitchen Taproom. Pours a deep stout brown with a tan head. Nose is huge coconut, coconut oil, vanilla, coffee to the point of tartness, and cocoa with chocolate. Flavor is similar with cocoa, chocolate, coffee, coconut oil, coffee tartness, and some earthy oaky vanilla with some barrelchar. Flavor is an interesting balance that leans heavily toward coconut andcearthy coffee tartness. Light to medium in body and lingering coffee tartness with coconut into the finish.

Doesn’t get more florida than this. Lots of flavors that are balanced in food so hell, through it in a beer. THen barrel aged it. It was ok, just way out there for flavors, the alcohol burn was light.

Funky Buddha Pineapple Pilsner
Draft at 3rd Anniversary Party. Pours a slightly hazy golden color and topped by a small off white head of foam that settles quickly to a thin film. The aroma shows notes of pineapple and tropical fruits, light crackery malts, peppery spice and some light hop bitterness. The flavor follows with the pineapple and citrus fruit up front to go with the toasted bread and cracker malts and light hop and spicy bitterness on the back end. Medium bodied with balanced carbonation that leads to a slightly sweet pineapple and spicy bitter finish. Decent enough Pilsner that is refreshing on a hot day.

Funky Buddha Crusher Single Hop Session IPA
Draft pour at Funky Buddha. Pours a clear golden color and topped by a thin off white head of foam that recedes quickly to a thin film. The aroma shows notes of fresh citrus fruit with orange grapefruit to go with a touch of pine and citrus hop bitterness on the back end. The flavor follows with the orange and grapefruit citrus fruits and balanced out with some light hop bitterness and toasted bread malts. Light in body with subtle carbonation that leads to a lengthy bittersweet finish. Probably could use a bit more body, but it was still a tasty session IPA.

Funky Buddha The Love Below
Draft pour at WOB for the Funky Buddha tap takeover. Pours a pitch black color and topped by a small layer of beige colored foam that slowly settles to the body below and leaves nice spots of lace on the glass. The aroma is really nice showing a luxurious mix of semi-dark chocolate, cherries, dark roasted malts, vanilla cream, and vinous oak from the Cabernet barrels with just a hint of booze. A chocolate cherry cordial comes to mind. The flavor is very rich, decadent, and sweet with the dark chocolate, cherries, bourbon oak, and vinous Cabernet grapes all playing a role and melding perfectly together. The dark roasted malts from the stout add some nice balancing bitterness to help keep the sweetness in check, while the booze adds a touch of warmth signaling this is a big beer. Full bodied and velvety smooth with subtle carbonation that leads to a lengthy chocolate, cherry, and bitter sweet finish. Easily one of the finest beers Funky Buddha has made and they’ve made quite a few really good ones.

Funky Buddha Floridian Hefeweizen - Lychee
Draft at WOB DP for their Funky Buddha tap takeover. Pours a hazy golden color and topped by a small off white head. The aroma is weird showing notes of banana, clove, funky Lychee fruit, hefeweizen yeast, and a toasted bread malt base. The flavor follows with the lychee fruit up front adding a funky flavor to the Floridian profile. Medium bodied with ample carbonation that leads to a lengthy, funky, fruity finish. I guess Lychee fruit just isn’t my thing as it seemed to clash with all the hefeweizen flavors.

Funky Buddha Imperial Chocwork Orange
Draft at Funky Buddha’s 3rd Anniversary Party. Pours a really dark brown almost black in color and crowned by a small, smooth layer of tan colored foam that slowly settles to a thin film. The aroma is really nice showing notes of both semi-sweet milk chocolate and bitter dark chocolate, sweet orange peel, roast, and a toasted caramel malt base. The flavor follows with waves of rich dark chocolate, semi-sweet milk chocolate, roast, and orange and citrus zest that all tie together nicely. Toasted caramel malts finishes this off and helps dry things out a bit on the back end while trying to balance out the sweetness. Tastes like a chocolate covered orange for sure. Medium bodied and velvety smooth with balanced carbonation that leads to a smooth chocolate dipped orange finish. Very tasty and sweet, but there is just enough roast to keep this from getting cloying. Tasty beer.

Funky Buddha Randy’s Old Fashioned - Whiskey Barrel Aged
Draft at WOB Dr Phillips for their FB tap takeover. I assume this is the right spot for this beer as this was definitely not a brown ale base. Pours a mostly clear golden color with a small of white head of foam that fades away quickly and leaves no lacing. Looks still like a cocktail drink would. The aroma shows notes of oranges, cherries, soft bourbon laden oak, and a touch of vanilla. Smells reminiscent of an old fashioned. The flavor follows with the oranges and cherries up front followed by hints of bourbon, oak laden vanilla, and a toasted caramel malt base. Medium bodied with average carbonation that leads to a lengthy fruity finish with no hint of alcohol at all. A solid interpretation of the old fashioned cocktail.

Funky Buddha Maple Bacon Coffee Porter
Bomber via FB trade. Poured a rather full body for only a 6.4% beer, under a smaller super tight foamy beige head. Aroma is sweet maple syrup topped French toast, coffee with a splash of cream. Flavor is more like maple syrup over lightly burnt toast with just a touch of coffee in the background. Thinner body for all the flavors in this beer with softer carbonation. So much going on for only a 6.4% beer, really nice.

Funky Buddha Iron & Barleywine
Bottle split at RB Best Hotel Lobby Share, post festival, 31/01/16. Rich amber with a decent off white cap. Nose is dark fruit rinds, fruit loaf, light fart, red grape must, wooded tones, toffee. Taste comprises sweet and sour licks, dates, figs, plummy depths, vinous, caramel melt, toasted brown sugar. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a boosty rise. Average stuff to be honest ... lacks depth and cohesion.

Bottle shared by Matt - thanks! Pours clear black, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma is really strong vanilla, cocoa, root beer, coffee. Flavor is very sweet, light plus bitter, super adjuncty.
