Funky Buddha I Want It Now
650 mL bottle. Hazy orange with no head. Smells of passion fruit and some mineral notes. Tastes of strong passion fruit. Quite tart. Grain and mineral back end and a touch of Theraflu in the finish. Light body with high carbonation. Good, despite the weirdness in the finish.

Funky Buddha Wide Awake It’s Morning
2016 bottle, 9,5%. BIG aroma of maple and coffee REALLY pops. Possibly my favorite of the 3, by a hair. Less of the light smoke/bacon than the base porter, but oddly the body on this just a touch thin for an impy (3.5) - and that’s the only thing making this not my clear favorite of the 3. All fantastic, each with their strengths.

Funky Buddha Last Buffalo in the Park
Completely random luck that I found this on tap at Craft Bar 30A. Pours dark brown with ruby highlights and a thin tan head. The aroma is molassess, milk chocolate, and vanilla. The flavor is roasted coconut and mellow bourbon with a hint of espresso bitterness in the finish. Coconut and bourbon dominate without being overpowering or cloying. Warming booze. Very nice.

I LOVE the MBCP and love this beer about at the same level. Sweet, but not hot. Trades a little bit of the balance for the barrel. Not overly barreled, but maybe a touch more barrel than coffee (really the only "flaw"). Smooth maple up front and center. Really just a treat.

Pours aser through dark dark brown with a fairly lasting head. Aroma is just bonkers coconutty. Coffee, milk chocolate and coconut, maybe some sweet sunscreen lotion and that’s that. Super smell. Taste has soft coffee, almost latte like coffe and light bourbon and coconut. Some chocolate too. Light sweet aftertaste. Adjunct as a mother f******. But it’s really damn delicious.

Bomber. This is ridiculous. Dark dense pour with a light beige head. Coconut, mild coffee, bourbon. Slick but soft palate that is unlike any mouthfeel I’ve experienced. Sweet, slight booze but far from boozy. This is so damn good. One of my favorite beers ever. Bold but nuanced, layered in its complexity. Brilliantly crafted.

Funky Buddha Hop Gun IPA
Taps clear dark amber with a thin but serviceable buff head that leaves good lacing. Aroma presents hoppy, grapefruit, floral, woody and fresh malt notes. Flavor delivers hops, zesty grapefruit, floral and malty character - quite enjoyable. Body is quite firm, fizz is lively and lasting. I feel the need - the need for beer!

Funky Buddha Wide Awake It’s Morning
Black color with a nice thick frothy beige head. Solid lacing. Looks good. Good intensity in the aroma. Full body and a smooth carbonation level. Mellow nice sweetness for a beer like this. Solid lasting flavor with chocolate, maple, espresso and vanilla. Complex solid stuff with a dangerously well masked alcohol level.

Funky Buddha Pineapple Beach
Draft at Shades bar (Hilton Buena Vista Palace). Sweet malt candy up front, leading into a drier finish, where the pineapple is more noticeable. The pineapple is weird, kinda funky, not a good choice for the beer. More hipster crap from FB.

Funky Buddha Last Snow Porter - Rum Barrel
22 oz. bottle shared by Homer321 - thanks again, Sean! Pours a cloudy dark amber brown with a small tan head that settles into a ring and wispy film. The initial aroma is absolutely massive rum. Give it a few minutes to settle down. Coconut, chocolate, raisins, vanilla, caramel, mellow toast and roast. Charred oak. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet mouthfeel. Needs time to open up and mellow. Bumped my initial score up because of that.

Funky Buddha Mexican Coffee
22 oz. bottle and I didn’t note who shared it, but thanks. Pours a cloudy amber brown with a small beige head that settles into a ring and wispy film, leaving ropes of lace in the glass. Notes of coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, dark fruits, oak, mild spice, and some really subtle tequila barrel warmth. Coffee and cinnamon really lead the way, though. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a roasty, sweet mouthfeel. Fun beer.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... I warmed this in a sauce pan for an hour. Never let it simmer, just kept it warm at my stove’s lowest setting. There was steam, but no simmering. Poaching temperature. The color changed from mostly clear and light-amber to brown with burnt-orange highlights. The aroma was a swirl of caramel, dark raisins, cinnamon, toasted malts, apple cider and a melange of other wintertime spice-rack goodies. Full-bodied and velvety with little to no carbonation. I should note that there was carbonation and a head when I poured a small, room-temperature sample into a glass before the rest went into the sauce pan for warming. The flavor was sublime, offering singed caramel, toffee, spiced cider and quite a lot of acidity. It became surprisingly tart and bright while still offering a boatload of caramel, toasted malts and wintertime spices. I wish I had another bottle to heat up and drink right now. World-class beer!

Funky Buddha Wide Awake It’s Morning
660 ml bottle, shared by Werckmeister, many thanks. Pours a nearly dark mahogany with a tan colored head. There is a lots of maple syrup in the aroma along with roasted malt - cocoa, toffee, caramel, nuts. Medium to full body with a low carbonation, a medium to heavy sweetness and a light to medium bitterness. The flavor is pretty full and again dominated by the maple syrup, very malty and lightly salty with caramel, brown sugar, coffee, licorice, smoke and lots of vanilla. The alcohol is nicely hidden and the beer is very well balanced overall. While the maple syrup dominates, the flavor is still rich and complex. Excellent brew!

Funky Buddha I’m So Excited, I’m So Scared
22 oz bottle. Pours nearly pitch black in color with some mahogany at the edges and topped by a thick tan colored layer of foam that settles in nicely to a thin film and leaves streaks of lace around the glass. The aroma is nice showing huge notes of roasted coffee, espresso, dark and milk chocolate, and toasted vanilla. The earthy, roasty espresso is the star of this show though. The flavor follows suit and shows some more of the dark roasted malts, earthy roasted coffee, and dark chocolate up front and balanced out nicely by the toasted vanilla. Some burnt caramel shows up as well to add further depth. The vanilla really tries to smooth out the big roasted coffee and espresso flavors, but the deeply roasted coffee is bold and in your face. Nearly full bodied and smooth with balanced carbonation that leads to a lengthy roasted espresso and toasted vanilla finish. This is a solid stout with coffee and I like the addition of the vanilla, but it’s not as balanced as I’m looking for. Big and bold with huge coffee notes is what they were going for and Funky Buddha nailed that.

Funky Buddha Wide Awake It’s Morning
650 ml waxed bottle, shared by Werckmeister, big thanks!
Black body, with a small, creamy, dark brown head.
Aroma of smooth coffee, tiramisu, toffee, dark chocolate, maple syrup, cocoa, vanilla.
Tastes quite similar, with some more liquorice, some tobacco, subtle smoke.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes roasty, medium bitter, a bit dry, wooden, a bit smokey, with liquorice, coffee, bitter chocolate, but also subtle sweet notes of cocoa and maple.

Wow, delicious! Very complex and rich and especially incredibly smooth to drink for the ABV, really perfectly balanced. Starts quite sweet, but merges into a please roastiness towards the finish, so that it never gets sticky at all. Releases more and more aromas and changes direction a few times, while always keeping the focus. Really outstanding, accomplished stuff!

0,66l waxed bottle at home from trade with bursprak (big thanks for this one); shared with Saeglopur, Powy and my gf. No obvious BB date. black color, small coffee colored head. smells of maple, toffee, licorice, vanilla, bit toasty, very nice smell. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, bit salty, bit acidic, caramel, licorice, some maple, umami, vanilla, light caramel. finishes lightly dry and bitter with notes of vanilla, maple and salty. quite nice one, not totally convinced by the balance a bit on the bitter side / a bit too heavy on the vanilla, but overall very nice one.

Funky Buddha Last Snow Porter - Rum Barrel
Bottle. Pours clear reddish black, medium creamy tan head, good lacing. Aroma is coconut, mega-rum, overwhelmingly strong, more cococnut, ashtrays. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter, really really rummy, heavy handed coconut. It kind of tastes like suntan lotion mixed with Malibu. Lightish body. Thank you Homer for trying to steer me clear of this one; fuck me for not listening. This is some terrible shit. It even pulled barn016 out of rating retirement to agree with me :)
