Rockdale Classic
I am no beer connoisseur (did I spell that right?)I either I like a beer or I donít. When I buy beer I consider 3 things. Taste, price and alcohol content. That generally makes me a Budweiser classic man. I saw this for the first time today at Walmart. 35% less than my usual 6 16 ounce cans. It was worth trying. It ainí t bad but it ainít bud. That is all I got to say

$5 sixpack of tallboys? Kinda hard to pass up, but I may never learn my lesson - though I might have if I had known this was a City Brewery product! Well it doesnít look so bad, sits somewhere between straw and golden, with a big fluffy pitted white head. Nose is weird, fusels, grain, fake lemony scent. Flavor sweetish, very grainy, corny. In someway reminiscent of PBR, but grainier like a malt liquor, but not nearly as heavy and sweet as one. Keep it secret, keep it cold.

Trouble Brewing íRound Midnight Belgian White
Iíll be damned. The Trouble Brewing beer I was least optimistic about is actually the best. Granted, this honor is along the lines of saying itís the nicest canker sore Iíve ever had, but, compared to the rest of the dreck from this mixed twelver, itís at least drinkable. Modestly sweet with discernible banana-clove notes, and a mild spiced back end. Not good, but not awful, which is as much as we can hope with Trouble. At least weíre done. I need a nap.

Trouble Brewing Catís Away IPA
A step up from Red Flag, and yet still horrible. An IPA only because the can insists. Slight citric-pine hops paired with a bland, almost indiscernible caramel malt presence. Essentially a can of sparkling water kept in a refrigerator near an IPA. Please. Make it stop.

Trouble Brewing Red Flag Amber Ale
Somehow worse than After Party, somehow as horrendous as a fake craft amber ale brewed with honey can be. Metallic, fake-toffee malts meet a cloying, focus group-tested honey sweetness, resulting in a concoction even your drain might reject. Jesus, how much worse can this mixed-twelver get?

Trouble Brewing After Party Pale Ale
Not pale; sick. As weak and lifeless of an interpretation of the style as you could imagine, the slightest hint of citrus and pine but otherwise full of weak, watery malts and as lifeless a texture as imaginable. Exactly what youíd expect from a fake Wal-Mart craft beer. Run. Run fast..

Trouble Brewing íRound Midnight Belgian White
Looks decent enough...cloudy golden yellow. Perhaps a bit too much vigorous frothy head. Not sure of the age on these, but theyíve all seemed old and lifeless. Wit isnít a favorite style, but itís also really hard to mess one up. Trouble did just that. Lame duck dusty nose has hints of orange and spice. Watery body like the pales, and a boring ass flavor, again like wit flavored water. Just turrible.

Trouble Brewing Catís Away IPA
Can. Gotta score this a tenth lower than the awful excuse for a pale only because theyíre trying to pass off this as an IPA. I literally laughed at this beer. Aroma of cereal generic malt the same as the pale. Darker, with a touch more flavor (more isnít always better) and maaaaaybe the slightest hint of bitterness if you really work for it. Like corn flake soaked water flavored with hops.

Can. Clear straw yellow. Smells of corn and adjuncts. No pee or skunk, which is nice, but tastes more like beer flavored water than beer. So watery itís laughable.

Trouble Brewing After Party Pale Ale
Meaningless code in the bottom, but this canít be fresh. Clear dark golden in color. Actually has decent leaving but thatís where the praise ends. Smells and tastes of cereal grains and hop flavored water. Maybe some cardboard if I work for it. Itís like pale ale flavored water.

99 cents for a 24 ounce can. Straw colored yellow with white head that died quickly. Very grainy nose. Corn water and metallic grains on the palate. This is generic cheap lager. This brewer probably never heard of a flower called "hops" as there arenít any in this. No after taste either. Itís not horrible tasting just very dull. Itís drinkable but youíll long for something else.

Tap Room No. 21 Session IPA
Twist off bottle. Look, I donít like IPA and this smells like brighter IPA. Big strong sharp bitter hop plant taste, lots of aftertaste. Yes, terribly on style for an IPA, canít really tell the alkyís not present. Big nasty nellie terribly on style-eeee beer. Yea, this is a rare one and if you like IPA ignore the numbers, just a brutally bitter impressive IPA style beer. In the end it does seem to have a rather good co2 sizzle about it. Whew, even session IPA can be as fricken hell regular IPA, hah.

Can, not anxious to try after looking at the score. Pours a deep rusty dark copper pour with a large beige head. Nose is quite flat , maybe some mild hops. To go with the flat nose is a very flat taste...quite awful ! Can never go astray with the average ratings of rate beer drinkers ! Quaff Score 3 / 10

This beer is not quite like any other beer. This beer is some kind of hay stack of chicken that just bites you in the ass. Every time someone says the words "rockdale beer" a small little baby deer throws up. Itís unfortunate that this beer exists. Abraham Lincoln once said, "What the hec is this beer? Itís like Gettysburg & Columbine all over again." Sometimes I wonder why God created this beer. And then I remembered, he was too drunk to remember. So in the end, this beer is not good for humanity. Itís kind of like the worst thing ever except itís worse than that. Overall, I think Robert did a great job of explaining why some kids donít like every other sense of the word "save rating." Overall, we stray further away from the goDs every single day. By anyway I really totally am hyped for the next Call of Duty game. I like that Call of Duty went back to its roots. Hence, "world war 2" overall that is all.

Can. This pours with a pretty big head, atop a rusty orange hue. From there it goes a bit south ... the aroma is a tad soapy. The beer isnít awful, but it also doesnít have near the "kick" one would expect from a DIPA. The mouthfeel is almost vapid, quite thin. The flavors arenít awful either, but do smack a bit of adjuncts or syrups more than whole grains. As I read what I write, perhaps Iím a bit harsh. Itís technically OK, but just OK. (#6580, 4/25/2017)

Can: ($4.86 a sixer of tall cans at Wal-Mart) Clear gold with a tall, thick white head. Barley, honey scent. Taste is watery barley malt, corn. Rather flat, not much crispness. Not completely terrible...(for a cheaply done Pale Lager) Pairs well with Coq au Vin or making a Black&Tan with a 2012 Vintage KBS......just kidding.

Trouble Brewing Catís Away IPA
Clear peach-gold pour with a two finger, frothy to oily off white head. Aroma is apple, toffee, a touch of citrus, spicy and planty hops, metal and a little woody oxidation. Flavor is pretty much the same with a little more metal and some mineral notes. Light body medium carbonation, dry, somewhat astringent. Not good, lots of off flavors and aromas and a fairly offputting feel. Looks ok though.

Not very good, lots of off notes.

Is this really a different formula from the íClassicí? Maybe the taste is a little more neutral. Neither is a good or bad beer. This is the type of beer Mexicans drink all day while they cut your grass or pressure-wash your house.

I am hypothesizing that Walmart reached out to City Brewing and asked them to make a proprietary low budget lager. Rockdale is the result (I think Kroger did the same thing with Genessee, but I canít recall the name of the product). There is nothing remarkable about this beer. It is nearly aroma-less. The taste is so mild as to be almost neutral. It stealthily sneaks in 5% ABV. The finish is very clean and short. Itís not unpleasant - but why drink it? Very reminiscent of an Ultra-light flavor wise.

Tap Room No. 21 Session IPA
Bottle. Pours the expected sudsy amber, but beyond that thereís much here that the typical "IPA" drinker would expect. Thereís the barest hint of a woodsy aroma, but the actual flavor profile here is pretty bland. Itís perhaps a hair past a amber macro-style brew. Nothing technically wrong here, just pretty pedestrian. (#6575, 4/20/2017)

16 oz can from Walmart in Salem OR. $4.59 a six. Average pale lager look cooking oil yellow , but it has a nice head. I will give it that. Got that City Brewery cream corn and cardboard aroma! Taste light corn and pear/apple. Pretty clean though, Mouth feel is fine for the style and added points for not being sickeningly cloying. NOt a bad extra cheapo lager. Had far worse. But drink COLD

Tallahassee, Fl - Wal Mart - Bull Run - 24 oz party-size can. Sparkling medium golden pour, delightful bubble action, film of a snow white head that sticks around a while. Rockdale Classic
Rockdale Classic has a thick, almost straight-white head, a deep golden, bubbly appearance, with very fine suspended sediment, throughout, and fairly high glass lacing. The aroma is of strong, somewhat rotted, wet barley malt and filler grain, and the flavor is of wet and green apple grains, with an underlying chalky feel and flavor. Forget bitterness. Mouthfeel is high medium, and Rockdale Classic finishes on the mostly dry and certainly sloppy side. Once was enough! RJT

Pre-pour thoughts..... Golden can, lots of mountains.....hmm reminds me of another brand. Oh, and shouldnít the classic come first, instead of the light?

Pours a very very clear straw color. Head is pretty good, very fizzy, egg shell color. Fizzes away pretty quickly, leaving very little lacing.

Aroma is not far off the light. It smells like diarrhea, only not as much so as the light. Corn. Cornflakes and wet cardboard.

Taste is not much. Cardboard water? Iím really searching for something here and nothing.

Mouthfeel is weird. Very carbonated, very watery. Alcohol bitterness, I think. Itís light bodied. But thereís something, it just makes my mouth draw up. I really donít want to drink the rest of it.

Overall, itís cheap. But honestly, thereís other beers, better beers that are cheaper than this. At least for the 24oz size. This is equally as bad as the Rockdale Light.

I seriously donít mean to hate on this. I am generally pretty generous with my reviews, but this one is bad. It really is. This is the beer you drink, when youíve drunk all the good stuff. This is the beer you drink after your team loses the big game. This is that beer.

Whaaaaat? A tick at WalMart? Red letter day, this. How have the mighty fallen? A go-to-hell 24 oz tallboy, $1.39, suitable for shooting with a BB gun or .22 out on the power line maintenance road. Mountains on the can. Lots of mountains. If thereís one thing you canít have enough of on a macro lager can, itís mountains. All of that pure snowmelt mountain water running down through bear feces, bracken and leaf detritus only to be turned into adjunct-laden barley juice at the plant (near Rockdale.) Clear, yella, as it should be with a Classic. Sweetish, industrial beer aroma. This has a distinct pickled olive flavor, almost like you were drinking a dirty martini. Not bitter, a little tangy, cheap malt flavors, very slightly astringent. Poor carbo retention, limp, thin mouth. The quart of ammonia that I also got at Walmart on the same trip is next up for rating. Unfortunately, I also bought a tallboy of Rockdale Light, because I thought that I hadnít had it. @PorterPounder, @drowland, note the find.
