Dieselpunk Double IPA
12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 12/13/2016. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/pine hops and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/pine hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance; and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.5%. Overall this is a nice DIPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/pine hops and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the big ABV; with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Definitely quite malty for a DIPA; but adequately drying, with plenty of hop presence. Fairly juicy feeling on hop character, with balanced citrus/fruity/piney complexity. Nice bready Munich malt backbone, with no residual sweetness. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Tap Room No. 21 Session IPA
Bottle from bhensonb. Pours amber with a thick beige head and a malty aroma. There is a medium-bodied mixed malt flavor with a moderately bitter finish. Yes, easy drinking, but not all that tasty.

Trouble Brewing Cat's Away IPA
Can from Grocery Outlet. Somewhat funky hop flavors up front. Has some hoppiness to it. Obvious that this is a lower end IPA. Drinkable, but not a true IPA as far as I'm concerned.

Wild Range India Pale Ale
12oz bottle (courtesy of Headbanger) poured into a Shaker at 43°. Color is a deep gold with good carbonation and a thin head. Aroma is malty with a little hop scent in the back. It has a medium body with a crisp mouth feel. Flavor is crisp malt, a touch of hop spice and a light bitterness. Aftertaste is dry as the bitterness comes out more giving just a hint of citrus. Overall it's a bit weak for an IPA.

Tap Room No. 21 IPA
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/4/2016. Pours crystal clear golden amber/light orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice thick soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper/pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops and dark/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper/pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and slightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.9%. Overall this is a good IPA. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Nice levels of hop presence; though quite on the malty side, it is adequately drying. Nice showcase of the Centennial, Chinook, Columbus hops; without being too sweet/heavy feeling on the malts. A nicely enjoyable offering. A lot better than I expected.

Essential Hops Strawberry Blonde
Bottle. Strawberry, malt, and light straw aroma. Golden yellow with small but short lasting head and mild effervescence. Lightly sweet strawberry, very light malt, and mildly bitter iron/hay flavor. Very light body. Aroma showed some promise (even if that promise was a fruity sugar bomb) but then just gave weakly flavored strawberry mineral water.

Trouble Brewing Red Flag Amber Ale
Thin, short lived head atop an amber body. It smells of subtle notes of bread and earth. It tastes fine, though not exceptional. It's good and readily drinkable. There's a sweetness to it from the added honey.

Thick white head atop a clear golden body. It smells of woodland/pine hops. It's kind of bland with that traditional IPA after taste. Honestly, it's kind of a let down based on the brewery and style.

Bottle from the local Grocery Outlet. Pours coppery gold with a white head. Aroma is malty with a bit of fruit. Med minus body. Flavor is malty with not much of anything - maybe a touch of herb or something. The flavor just is not very pleasant. Chalk up another piece of contracted crap.

Trouble Brewing 'Round Midnight Belgian White
Thick, creamy white head on top of a hazy golden body. It smells of the malts used to make it, before boil. Also it smells spicy rather of spices. It tastes like coriander is added, something other than the four Reinheitsgebot ingredients. The can doesn’t reveal any other ingredients, but something is there. Maybe it’s a quirk of a style I don’t frequent. It’s beers like this that made me want to start my ratebeer page.

It’s a mystery how this shitty beer made it all the way to Walmarts strictly limited assortment. Jesus. Smells like sweet malt and some faint hoppy can of urine. Tastes a little more like hops but with a pungent, stinging hit of cold rusty tin.

Tap Room No. 21 Summer Ale
Blind tasted with 2 other Koelshes. Beers were: 1. Tap Room No. 21 Summer Ale 2. Lancaster Kolsch 3. Lake Effect Super Bier. All 3 raters rated the beers 213 and deemed none of these beer to be remotely resembling of a Koelsch.

355ml bottle. Golden pour. Aroma is stale and boring, some herbs, not much there, husky grain. Flavor is metallic, with little finish.

Post tasting thoughts:
At 3.99 I wasn’t expecting a kolesch. At that price it is passable but its not a good beer.

Taste: no snap, mild and watery thin, even for a lite beer. Mild, caramel toffee nose. Gold, crystal clear, with a thin head and some lace. Lite body. Cheap price might indicate the less ingredients used to make this.

Was surprised with how clean it tasted. It also had more of a body than I expected for a budget beer. If your looking to buy a cheap American adjunct lager then buy this because it's just as good as Coors Light, Busch Light, etc. There is no reason to buy beer that will cost more money when it tastes about the same as this cheap Rockdale Light from Walmart. You pussies that think you have to get a beer that makes you look cool in front of your high school friends at a party where you won't even finish a 12pk need to reconsider because ya'll probably don't even like the taste of beer in the first place. So if you're gonna go put on a show at some party and drink beer then I suggest you get you some Rockdale Light. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark and murky copper color with a blanketing head of light beige foam. Just a weak ass IPA all around with a little bit of caramel malt and hardly any hop character to back it up. Tap Room No. 21 Summer Ale
Bottle from GO: Poured a violent eruption of carbonation bubbles in a gold liquid with a thick whip cream topping of foam cap topping. Aroma is delicate quality malts and a minor whiff of fruit beery like hops. Flavor is off and taste like expired hops and drinks rather harsh and somehow ends up tasting like cocaine. $5 for sixer and with the tap room name I should have remembered that this couldn’t be that good, but I was enticed because it was a Kolsch style.

You don’t take the girl next door to prom because she is the hottest woman there, you take her because she is fun…and you can get away with buying her an 8$ fast food meal on the way…. and not drop 100$ on dinner as you would if you brought a high maintenance beauty queen. This beer is dirt cheap…like they almost pay you to take it out of Wally World…. If you did a beer run with two 24packs of Rockdale Light, the 80 year old overweight security guard at the door would wave bye bye as you ran past them. Beer snobs-“The color was to light, the aroma was too corny, and the buttery malty finish was lacking”…..you paid like 60 Cents for that 16oz can, get the hell over it. Bottom line, this is THE beer (maybe along with Pabst, Natty and Busch) that you shotgun, you hold while playing horse shoes, throwing a baseball or football around. It’s a fresh, light, “water” of a beer that is Cheap, Drinkable, and if when your hot girl next door knocks it over while she’s giving you a lap dance, you don’t freak out because she just dumped a 6$ per bottle triple IPA over…..and still have a great night. Cheer to this garbage beer that keeps the party going and is fun to talk about. An alternative to the overplayed “blue can” at the parties.

OK, so this bottle DOES NOT say moe’s backroom, just to be clear; but I suspect it may be the same brew. Smell is dull IPA hops. Looks a little orange on this yellow pale beer. First taste is big bitter IPA hops, large knock on the taste buds. Difficult, medicinal; having many of the qualities of an on style IPA. What it lacks in freshness it adds to tramping on double bitter IPA territory, go figger. Big long bitter chewing on green grapefruit rinds & pulp mixed with a little turpentine. There, you have it. IPA lover? Try it, don’t look at my numbers. Its a palate wrecker. Want to know a sign of the times? Check out how many real macro brewers actually make a becent IPA today HAH! Bottle with a different label than the one pictured. Slightly darker than pale lager; golden, but just as clear. Malty aroma. Decent co2. Mild sweet caramel taste. Medium light body. Probably a little less cloying than many vienna I’ve had lately. Not bad, pretty much like a lager but with a little more feel to it. Probably lacks any sense of craft brewing in here but its decent none the less.
