Double Take Amber Ale
Light amber color with an off white head of whispy foam. Light aromas of toffee and florals. A very thin version for its style.

Rockdale Light
My kids are finally growing up! My son finally fought back when I tried to lock him in the basement other day. Gave me a huge scratch on the side of my face so I had to put on this ugly ass white bandage that looks awful. The Rockdale has helped with the pain a ton. Really excited for break. Itís gonna be a fun one as Iím traveling to LA to stalk Steve Garvey the whole week. The law says I canít come within 100 yards of him but Iíll make it work. As you recall, I sold my Steve Garvey baseball card for three cases of Rockdale, but since my parents finally agreed after 40 years to up my allowance with inflation, I can now by 3 packs of cards which gives me more of a chance of getting another Steve Garvey card! Heres my plan: I grow back my fucking disgusting salt and pepper beard for disguise and sneak into Steve Garveyís house and tell him Iím a Dodgers fan before he calls the cops again! Go Dodgers!!

Trouble Brewing Catís Away IPA
(12oz can) AROMA: light hops, sweet malts, perfume, bread dough, floral, some spice. APPEARANCE: golden Amber, good amount of slightly offwhite foam, clear. TASTE: barrel malt, some smoke, herbaceous, celery, dates. PALATE: soft, medium body, creamy, smooth and easy with some bitter on the finish. OVERALL: not a great IPA but a decent beer. More of a standard ale (with some lager-like aspects) than an IPA. Easy to drink, with a nice feel. Good malt flavors, a bit green, not overly hopped (light on the dry hopping). Actually, if this was marketed as a Poils, I would say it was a too-notch Pils.

An excellent full flavored lager that pairs well with most food. Full and robust but not too unreasonably bitter on the back end. Beautiful copper/amber appearance makes visually appealing as well.

Wild Range India Pale Ale
(12oz bottle) AROMA: soft nose for an IPA, sour malt, some pine, touch of smoke and barbecue. APPEARANCE: golden yellow, very clear, light head in color and amount, significant visible carbonation.. TASTE: robust maltimess, some sour peat in the middle, considerable bitter, tobacco, coffee grounds. PALATE: medium bodied, creamy, relatively simple except for the bitter followthru. OVERALL: not a typical IPA, a bit disappointed, seems they focused on malt and bittering hops, but went light on dry hopping, so more of a basic ale or english bitter result. The beer is actually not bad, but not what I expected.

12 low bottle from a friend. the ale poured a clear Amber color with a white head and lacing. A very attractive ale in a pint glass. The aroma is floral hops and pale malts. The taste of bitterling hops is detected. The medium body ale has average carbonation. The ale has a dry, clean finish.

Trouble Brewing Red Flag Amber Ale
Medium bodied, light amber pour with a frothy white head. Some lace. Lots of corny adjunct flavors here. A bit of old cabbage and honey in the aroma. This is pretty bad but not a quite a drain pour. Trouble sure is brewing here. Sampled via a Fizzics.

Tap Room No. 21 Moeís Backroom Amber Ale
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 5/11/2016. Pours clear medium orange/amber/light copper color with a 2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, honey, brown sugar, toasted bread, light nuttiness, light citrus/apple fruitiness, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Okay aromas with some dark/bready malt, honey, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with decent strength. Taste of caramel, honey, brown sugar, toasted bread, light nuttiness, light citrus/apple fruitiness, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Minimal herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel. honey, brown sugar, toasted bread, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Solid robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt, honey, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Minimal dryness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready/grainy mouthfeel that is good. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Slight diacetyl presence. Overall this is an okay amber ale. Decent robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt, honey, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. This was pretty bland and needed more hop presence; but was fairly tasty and enjoyable otherwise.

Trouble Brewing Red Flag Amber Ale
Pours a nice amber color with a creamy white head. The taste and flavor are pretty much identical. Sweet honey piled on top of sweet grains, with a little sweat. Thereís not really any hop influence to speak of. Itís one-dimensional. Nothing truly bad here, but itís uninspired and dull.

Trouble Brewing After Party Pale Ale
Masquerading as a craft beer but brewed by Genessee, Troubleís after party is a wholly mediocre affair. A muddled nose of weak tea and lemon tinged hops portend a very similar flavor. All the components here come across as old and tired. Sampled through a Fizzics, at least it had a nice fluffy head and moderately full body.

Rockdale Light
Love to slug a few in between class periods. The only beverage I allow my thirsty kids to have is Rockdale. According to Cainesian economics, the opportunity cost of one Rockdale is two gallons of oil from Maynard herself. According to Maynard Caines, net imports skyrocket with dudes when Rockdale is involved. I sold my Steve Garvey baseball card for three cases of Rockdale and a pack of seeds. Go Dodgers!

Pleasing nose, peppery grapefruit hop, a little stale graininess behind that though. Flavor is weird, has a big thwacky grapefruit character, tastes like stale cheesy hops, thinnish palate, twangy. Grainy/raw. Proof you canít always mask a bad beer with a lot of hops, esp when the hops are bad too.

Pours clear copper with a serviceable buff head. Aroma presents cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon riding toasted malt. Flavor brings to mind holiday cookies, the aforementioned spices plus a lick of ginger. Mouthfeel offers decent body and lively tingle. Trouble Brewing After Party Pale Ale
From the 12 fl. oz. can with a stamp: E186-1316:18. The color of the pour is medium amber underneath a tremendous, foamy, and long-lasting white head that laces as it fades. The aroma emits characters of white bread, mild roast, caramel, toffee, and a sort of herbal hop note. Almost medium body. There is a freshness in the taste that highlights a sweet barley and grainy quality at first with a pleasant, semi-lingering dry bitter finish. Balanced like a pale ale should be. Easy drinking but nothing extraordinary.

Trouble Brewing íRound Midnight Belgian White
From the 12 fl. oz. can that was stamped E186-1313:42. The pour is a slightly foggy orange-amber with a lingering white head. The aroma is mostly sweet bread, vague coriander, and a slight fruity note. But it is all subtle. The body is medium and juicy. The taste is sweet with a hint of tangerine, slight herbal notes, and a tiny bit of pepper at the end. Everything about this is downplayed. Maybe that is the way it is supposed to be.

From the 12 fl. oz. can acquired at my local Wal-Mart. It is stamped E186-1719:45. The color is a golden yellow with a tremendous, fluffy, long-lasting head. Trouble Brewing Red Flag Amber Ale
From the 12 fl. oz. bottle acquired at Wal-Mart. It pours a honey looking amber brown with no head. See-through clarity. The aroma is sweet and caramel malt forward with some honey in the mix. Low to no hop profile. Thin, lighter body. The taste is very sweet and malty but there is a nudge toward bitterness at the end of it. The taste exceeds the aroma but not by much.

Trouble Brewing íRound Midnight Belgian White
While I was trying to keep my expectations to what I thought was a realistic level for these Trouble beers, íRound Midnight Belgian White was far below my expectations. I figured out of all the beers íRound Midnight would be the most likely to be decent. Nope. The name seems to be an attempt at trying to make you think of another macro brewed Belgian White: Blue Moon. That seems like an American masterpiece compared to this watery brew. Aside from the yellow color and slightly cloudy appearance, thereís very little that would make you think of a Belgian Witbier. Thereís a bit of a clove note and... really not much else. Thin, bland, and uninteresting.

Trouble Brewing Catís Away IPA
Iím not totally sure what to make of this. It doesnít taste much like an IPA. It doesnít necessarily taste like any particular style at all. It isnít offensive. I donít get much at all for the aroma. Thereís a subtle fruitiness to the flavor, but other than that, thereís hardly any hop character. It is malty, but itís not especially flavorful in that respect either. Mainly, thereís just a light biscuit taste. Itís not bad so much as slightly baffling.

Trouble Brewing After Party Pale Ale
After Party Pale Ale is an okay choice for those who like English pub ales. It has a mineral-y smell and taste. Malt comes out a lot more than the hops do. Creamy taste and texture. A bit of citrus toward the finish. To me, this is comparable to Bass (another beer that isnít really my thing). If thatís your brew of choice, you might have a new, cheaper stateside alternative.
