Me encanta. Muy equilibrada sin desencantar a quienes buscamos las acidez ni asustar a quien no está acostumbrado. Aromas cítricos, bretts, ligera barrica. Un perfil muy de vino blanco con final seco. La repito siempre que la encuentro.

Lightly cloudy straw gold. Nose is CS house funk (limestone/cobwebby, light lemon, horse blanket). Taste follows with some earthy and spiciness presumably from the rye and oats. Different but also very much a CS beer.

Thanks Tim for sharing the bottle! Poured into a snifter showing moderately filtered tanned orange with sparse white foam. The nose shows moderately intense peach and oak. Mostly peach forward but framed nicely with the oak. The palate is light bodied and moderately carbonated. Light to moderate tartness with light and thin flavors of peach with a light spritz or zest on the palate. More peaches on the aftertaste but once again subtle.

Got sacked by this beer’s delicious noble hop aromas. Compares favorably with another "Dream Team" collab, Firestone Walker and Russian River’s STiVO, which is also a delicious keller pils, at least until the yeast sediments out and the beer goes "flavor flat".

Crooked Stave Keller Kölsch
Draft at Backcountry, Boulder. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy light to medium yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (grain), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), with notes of acetone, banana, cement. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Really dirty aroma, the acetone is especially nasty but even the banana is like...WTF...Koelsch??? Very disappointing and I still have yet to find a single decent Crooked Stave beer to this day.

2.3
Crooked Stave Keller Kölsch
Hazed gold with a short white head, it most resembles your average American wheat beer with no head retention. Aroma is pretty much all yeast and yeast-derived effects: banana, paper mache, cake frosting, autolyzed yeast, dish rag, weird phenolic touches of brine, something green like pepperoncini. It’s not an overpowering, nauseous aroma - it’s pretty quiet, but what’s there isn’t pleasant to smell, and it’s hiding whatever malt character sits underneath. In the mouth it’s light bodied, sweet, watery, thin and filmy with a short finish. So strikes for appearance and body not being Kölsch-like, and for little to no malt clarity, topped off by unclean fermentation.

From tap it’s lightly hazed pale gold with a short head. Quiet aroma shows hops as lemon and lychee and faint green-tropical notes. Malt is mostly transparent and fermentation is clean. In the mouth it’s light-bodied and sweet and oily with decent bitterness, but suffers from some gelatin-like chewiness. Easy drinking, uncomplicated lager.

Crooked Stave / Jester King / Trois Dames Cerveza Sin Frontera

Bottle from Gambrinus. Pours a clear, light copper with a full 2 fingers of foam. Big aromas of horseblanket, green, wet hay and manure with a touch of overripe orange juice. Very crisp on the palate and dry with a wooded character. More musty cobwebs, orange and light melon. Dry, bretty finish that lingers.

Crooked Stave Colorado Wild Sage
Off white airy head left a cover on a dark lemon coloured body - lots of sediment around. Very spicy & peppery aroma with lemon - smells like high quality lemonade! Thin bodied, very crisp on the palate. Clean on the back. On the very front it’s momentarily reasonably sweet with slightly tropical flavours, this quickly dissipates into a long tasting sour, tart affair with (strong) bitter lemon, herbs & I’m definitely picking out the sage.

Crooked Stave Petite Sour (Rosé)
Draft at the Side Project Cellar, served in a stemmed glass. Pours a hazy salmon color with a finger of white head that settles into a ring. Definitely shows the fruit skin character it promises, with plum and berries and apple and a hint of citrus, but this one has a strong floral character to me, with rose petals and hibiscus, pale malts, dusty grains, oak, and balanced funk and acidity. Light-bodied, with moderate to medium soft carbonation and a dry, lightly tart, somewhat funky mouthfeel. Pleasant stuff.

Crooked Stave The Hemperor’s New Clothes
Hazy bright golden with a thin sticky white cap. Bright earthy resins on the hop forward nose, and a kiss of something gently herbal. Bright honey and hop resin on the front of the palate, which smooths out and gets a little fluffy and gently pale malty biscuity sweet. Earthy hop resins throughout that aren’t too bitter. It’s quite balanced.
