Shades of Pale Hogshead Reserve No. 4 - Belgian Quad Aged in Bourbon Barrels
12 ounce bottle thanks to Craig. Pours a ruby brown color with a medium off-white head. A big sugary hot nose. A sort of sour element here, red wine, sweet toffee, some vanilla. The quad element dominated flavor but it is hot. Interesting. I like it.

Shades of Pale Hogshead Reserve No. 4 - Belgian Quad Aged in Bourbon Barrels
12 oz bottle from the brewery store. Pours clear reddish copper with a medium tan head that settles quickly. Aroma of bourbon, wood, leather, tobacco. Taste is sour, caramel, booze - the bourbon really comes through - vanilla, tobacco. Very complex. Not at all what I expected, the sourness put me off at first but it grew on me.

My beer was terrivle. A funky sour bite from the first sip. Tasted compromised for sure. The Publican did as well, mraning these guys need to do some quality control or speak to who they’re selling the beer to. But the other beers I bought at the supermarket weren’t ruined.

Shades of Pale Hogshead Reserve No. 4 - Belgian Quad Aged in Bourbon Barrels
12 ounce bottle from sledutah. Thanks! The beer is a clear copper to amber with a beige head of foam. The aroma has a tangy whisky boozy character. Lots of vanilla. Strong, musky, earthy Belgian character. Caramel, toffee, and coconut notes in the taste. Sweet and boozy character. Big body with a moderate carbonation. Overall a complex beer with a lot of sweet and estery characteristics.

Shades of Pale Brett Saison
12 ounce bottle from Sledutah. Thanks! Poured the beer into a brandy snifter. The beer is a hazy copper with a white head of foam that dissipates at a moderate rate. The aroma has funky, musty notes. Hints of maraschino cherries poke through, but the dominant characteristic is that juicy acidity. Puckering tartness dominates the taste, with only hints of the cherry on the back end of the finish. Spritzy mouthfeel. High carbonation and medium body.

Shades of Pale Jack Wagon Wheat
12 oz. bottle, bought in Bryce. Pours clear, bubbly gold, with a massive, bubbly, white head. The nose is earth, some good floral hops, cloves, bitter orange peel, caramel, white grapes, and salt. Sweet and citrusy, with a mild bitterness that stays nicely out of the way. Light body, acidic, and very carbonated, giving it a bubbly mouthfeel. This is a well balanced and pretty complex wheat beer. I’m impressed!

Bomber in Utah (obviously)

Massive foam upon opening and even the most careful pour (hence the 2 for appearance). Decent hop flavors, a bit soapy. Quite acceptable for a 4% pale ale.

Shades of Pale X-35
Shades of Pale Beer X IPA bottled 13 April 2016. Pours hazed gold with a short head. Aroma is hoppy in the way of melon, bubble gum, brined lemon, dried herbs, flowers, noble-like but with brighter and greener fruit notes. In the mouth it’s medium bodied and well-balanced, sweet and oily and bitter and juicy with a wheat-like slickness. Fun to smell and drink though a bit sweet for a full serving at 7.5%.

3.1
Shades of Pale Publican Pale Ale
12 ounce bottle from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. A LOT of foam that is off white. Super thick lacing. The beer is clear golden amber. An aroma of citrus that is gentle and kind of generic. Some caramel and cereal malts. Feel is on the thin side. That citrus is tasted along with cinnamon and some tropical fruit. Light melon. Not a lot of flavor but, hey, its a 4% pale ale.

Shades of Pale MisDirected IPA
12 ounce bottle from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. A big off white head that falls slowly. Some lacing but not as much as many. Just a little cloudiness in this cinnamon hued beer. Through all of the foam I smell citrus and caramel. Lots of grapefruit and tropical fruit are tasted. Fairly big bitterness. An off flavor almost from the beginning. Hop aftertaste? That smooths out for the most part leaving an earthy aftertaste. Lots of fruit peel in this one. Ok.

Shades of Pale MisDirected IPA
Shared with Strkyzone on Facebook Chat. Pours orange with a big white head that lingered. Nose of citrus. Medium body and a highly carbonated mouth feel. Flavor is floral and as Dace says kind of like hop sediment. Maybe needed filtering. Finishes with orange peel bitterness. Quite OK and pretty much a typical session IPA.

Shades of Pale X-35
This is bottled as Shades of Pale Beer X - but the alcohol is 7.7% (so they said the alias is this beer). The aroma is pretty faint. I think I am getting a bit of grassiness and grapefruit. Taste is bitter, but there was a bit of sweetness behind the bitterness. A bit of grapefruit, but mainly just a bitter taste more than picking out a flavour profile. It feels really over-carbonated to me. The head was pretty uncontrollable, and I could feel the carbonation with every sip. I think it if was less, I might even rank the taste a bit higher. Note: Let it sit for a while and warm. Carbonation is still a bit high, I believe - but knocked the taste up a bit.
