Goose Island Hombre Secreto
On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and snifter served displaying a hazed, orangey color, with a finger’s width of soft white foam that lingered briefly, leaving fair, doily-like lacing on the glass. The nose was some yeasty funk, a hint of agave sweetness, light spice, citrus as orange, and hints of barrel & tequila. The taste was somewhat similar notes, light to medium bodied, with okay spritz to the effervescence, and a bit of tartness. Bitterness was dry, earthy, tannic, and slightly herbal, with a finish that was not altogether favorable to me. Maybe it was the work of the tequila on the wood, but it reminded me of a specific, herbal & worm wood liqueur.

appearance: Pours a maple syrup colored body with a nice haze and a good sized head. Smell: Reserved but i’m able to coax out some caramel & hops. Mouthfeel: Nutty with some caramel and overlaid with roasted notes. An underlying hop bitterness nicely compliments the taste. A hint of chocolate in the finish.

Bottle courtesy of hackobock. Black pour with a thin mocha head. Balanced roast and bourbon barrel presence. White chocolate, vanilla and charred wood. Sweet & tiny bitter taste. Velvety round mouth. Huge barrel presence but since the stout is so balanced and in no way cloying it never gets vulgar.

Bottle of 35,5 cl, in a Tulip glass; from the fridge. Woaw. Really nice and refreshing IPA. The aroma and colours are classics IPA ones, with great hopppy notes, married with a beautiful orange colour (and a white fuzzy head). The taste is more like litchies and citrus, with fruity aftertaste. Yeah, go try it.
