Refined Ale Imperial Pale Ale
Pours a cloudy golden color. Smell of citrusy band-aids... almost like the smell of a stereo you just took out of the box. Taste ain’t any better. I literally bought this one by mistake. I thought I’d found a new Ark brewer, but instead the fine print reveals Refined Ale, maker of the worst beer I EVER tasted. This one is in the top three. This $#!+ makes Budweiser taste great. I have no idea how I’m going to get this aftertaste to go away. No surprise... the brewer doesn’t drink... he has no idea how bad it is. It is like buying donuts from a skinny baker. Oh... and this ’Imperial Pale’ is 4.5%ABV. An adventure in bad taste. This should be on the Cicerone exam.

Refined Ale Beer
Light yellow color for an amber ale. High carbonation: fizzy, even, a little fruity? Not a lot of flavor. Agree: metallic finish. Anyway, really not good. An unfinished homebrew that shouldn’t be sold for money.

Refined Ale Golden Light Beer
Into a pint glass. Hazy, light straw colored with two fingers of head. Head quickly gone though. A strong alcohol smell (weird for the low ABV), caramel and lemon sugar cookies. Not particularly pleasant. The taste has a drying effect, sweet dominates and light sourness in the finish. Amazing combination but not enjoyable. Fizzy and sticky texture. Light bodied. Too sweet and light with an unpleasant smell/taste mixture.

Refined Ale Beer
Poured into a pint glass. Golden/straw color with a finger and half of head, which held well. Smells like honey and pine. Quite pleasant. First taste, "this is soda water with a sweetener." A slight metallic finish. Yep. Light body, lots of fizz. I’m not sure what to make of this, what’s the point of charging a premium for an essentially flavorless beer? I can get that by the 30 pack for lots cheaper.

Refined Ale Beer
Bottle shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike! This beer appears a very hazy, straw yellow hue with just a wee little head. The aroma is way off kilter, and smells similar to nail polish remover. Heavy acetone scents blanket the nose. The flavor continues this downward spiral, with a dose of over-cooked vegetables thrown into the mix. The body is thin and watery. I just don’t get it. Never again. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 02-14-2011

Refined Ale Golden Light Beer
Bottle thanks to my brother. The body is a slightly hazy pale gold with a generous bright white head. The nose is soapy like urinal cakes. However, this is also balanced by some bug spray and lemons. The taste is old sweat socks and lemon scented soap. There is also a little bit of burnt bread crust. Probably the worst thing to pass my lips that was considered a food product. This is absolutely brutal. I am not sure if the sour off character is created by brewing flaws or sanitizer that made its way into the beer.

Refined Ale Beer
Bottle thanks to my brother. Thin hint of white head. Nose of apples and green wood. There is also a woody sharp note. The taste is fruity with wood and apple core. There is also a strong band aid and plastic taste in the finish.
