Mudhook Highline Hibiscus IPA
No real aroma, even for an IPA. Orange color. Hops are very light. Some sweet herbs, but not heavy. A touch heavy in palate than the wheat. Would never have guessed hibiscus if it wasn’t listed as such. Nothing super special or extra flavor. tap at brewery.

Deep roasted malty lactose aroma and taste. Pours dark black. Standard stout but that’s not an insult. Nice mouth feel, not too velvety, but far from weak. Very tasty. Tap at brewery.

3.6
Mud hook First Cast
Pours a flat black body with a wispy brown head. The nose is roasty and coffee laced, with some light oatmeal sweetness. The flavor is fairly decent, if a bit on the thin side, nice roastiness, good coffee, light lingering coffee finish. Light to medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Lingering dry roasty malt. Pretty good stuff.

3.6
Mudhook The Midnight Cast Black IPA
Clear dark brown body with a small wispy beige head. The nose is a nice mix of citrusy hops, chocolate, roasted malt, and a slight smokiness maybe. The flavor is quite light on the malt here as well, just lightly roasty with some coffee and burnt notes on the finish. The hops are fairly light, some decent citrusy notes, but not quite IPA levels. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. Nice beer, could use a bit more body, but it’s decent.

3.1
Mudhook Deviance Red IPA
Clear amber-copper body with a small thin covering of beige head. The nose is all red ale, not much IPA. Lots of toasty and slightly husky malt. Just a slight floral hoppiness. The flavor is a bit thin in the malt side, slightly sweet and husky with a grainy finish. Just a light hoppiness and minimal bitterness on the finish. Lighter bodied with soft fizzy carbonation.

Mudhook Sunken Punkin
Clear copper body with a wispy beige head. The nose is husky with a bit of pie spice of cinnamon. It smells a bit burnt and grainy. The flavor is pretty similar, overly husky with burnt grain and burnt caramel. Lighter on the spices, just a bit of nutmeg and cinnamon. Lingering grainy finish. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. Not a fan of this one.

3.6
Mudhook Deep Sea Stout
Pours a clear dark brown body with a thin ring of brown head. The nose is roasty and dry with a bit of burnt coffee and light citrusy hops. The flavor is much the same, very dry and roasty with just enough burnt malt. Lingering espresso finish with a hint of chocolate and tobacco. Lighter bodied with a watery texture and soft fizzy carbonation. Nice Dry Stout, well done to style.

Mudhook The Tweed River Strong Ale
Pours a mostly clear amber body with a minimal head. The nose is lightly smoky and sweet with campfire and caramel, light toffee. The flavor is heavier on the smoke than expected. Sweet caramel and toffee maltiness, minimal alcohol, not sticky or clingy at all. Medium bodied with a smooth middle and a lingering finish. Soft fizzy carbonation. Decent beer.

Mudhook Belgian Dubbel
Slightly hazy dark amber brown body with a minimal head. The nose is sweet, lots of dark fruits, a bit of caramel, Belgian yeast, smells a little alcoholic. The flavor doesn’t bear that out though, it’s fruity and full of Belgian yeast character. Nice lingering finish. A bit of coffee and toffee with ripe banana. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. Another good one.

Mudhook Redeye Irish Red
Pours a clear dark amber body with a minimal wispy off white head. The nose is toasty and slightly sweet with just a bit of light roast coffee. The flavor is pretty good for the style, toasty, lightly nutty, a bit of coffee, minimal but noticeable hops on the finish. Pretty strong effort. A bit bigger bodied for the style than usual. Soft fizzy carbonation. Good beer, especially for the style.

3.3
Mudhook Hook Bender IPA
Pours a clear copper body with a small fizzy beige head. The nose is mostly citrusy, but there’s are a bit of tropical notes as well. All over a slightly sweet caramel sweetness. The flavor is decently bitter, with plenty of hop flavor as well, there’s a bit too much caramel malt sweetness in this one for me, but it’s not crazy sweet. Medium to full bodied with a slight resiny cling on the finish. Not the hugest fan of this guy, but I could do a pint of it. Decently made, just not my thing.

3.8
Mudhook Wild River Weizen
Cloudy yellow gold body with a minimal white head. The nose is nicely estery with lots of bubblegum, over ripe bananas, and soft yeastiness. Smells pretty decent. The flavor is pretty decent as well, thought there was a slighty soapy note at first, but it’s not there. Really fruity and loaded with bananas and lesser cloves, there’s a perfect amount of yeastiness. Soft wheat base, lingering fruity finish. Light bodied with soft fizzy carbonation and a gentle spicy clove finish. Really pretty good.

Braudog
3.4
Mudhook Deep Sea Stout
Draft at the brewpub. Expected visuals for a stout. Salty and almost briny like an oyster stout. Best body among the beers we tried at this place. Decent roasty offering, best of the lineup. (#5366, 11/29/2013)

Mudhook The Tweed River Strong Ale
Draft at the brewpub in Nov 13, far from retired. Big time peat character. Smoky almost to a fault, that piece being a bit too distinct. Gotta be in the mood for this one. Also a bit thin for style. (#5364, 11/29/2013)

3.1
Mudhook Hook Bender IPA
Draft at the brewpub. Dark amber beer with a thin but slightly sticky top. Drinks with an abrupt hop acidity that’s befitting the style, but is starkly thin for a DIPA. Also has an unfortunate, almost soapy thing going on. (#5362, 11/29/2013)

Mudhook Deep Sea Stout
From the source. Decent pour, looks a bit thinnish for the style. Soft chocolate malts in the nose give way quickly to a fist of roasts. Body is indeed a touch on the undeveloped style, and it does the beer no favors. Decently dry, much less roasty to taste (there’s actually a dearth of flavors overall). Okay, I guess, but given how low-gear this is across the board I wouldn’t have guessed 7.4%.

3.2
Mudhook The Tweed River Strong Ale
Growler thanks to Cruser. Poured a deep burnt orange/light brown body with an average to larger foamy super light beige head, with a vigorous pour that is. Aroma shows that this definitely has some smoked malts going on, smoked meats, touch of honey sweetness, smoked salmon. Medium body with softer carbonation and an average duration on the aftertaste. Flavor is a mixture of smoke and sweetness, slight citrus, toast and bread. Not bad just wish I knew more about this one, website says nothing then a picture and the name.
