Big Island Red Sea of Cacao
One of a kind. Imperial red caramel notes with rich cacao and sea salt brings it together, lushous. Treacle, slight brine and dark cocoa finish.

Big Island White Mountain Porter
Aromas of roasted coffee with fairly mild toasted coconut. Resin aromas from the hops. Color is nearly black with a small light brown head. Medium sweetness; fairly bitter from some combination of hops and roasted coffee. Texture is fairly creamy; medium to full bodied; average carbonation; medium to long finish. Overall I like the roasted coffee flavor and the light touch of coconut. The base porter is fairly simple however.

Big Island Fat Bastardís Demise
Deep brown, almost black and has that characteristic Scottish ale appearance. The head floats on the top of the glass. The aroma is heavy toffee and caramel and the flavor tastes like whiskey and finishes with very rich toffee. This beer is as rich with Scottish character as french cuisine is with butter!

Big Island Big Mac Nut Brown Ale
Dark red. Dense medium head. Aroma is a bit earthy. I guess thats the nut. The mac. nut flavor comes through on the finish. I dont get the malty chocolate i am used to with brown ales.

Very dark red, albeit brown Very creamy texture and the flavor is like a malt cream with a caramel finish. A lot of toffee and a bit sweet for me, but a great beer nonetheless.

Big Island Dark Sabbath
Keg at Man in The Moon, Stockholm. Very dark brown, small head. Coffee and brown sugar up front. Sweet with full body and clean mouthfeel. Brown sugar and molasses, some salmiak. Sweet American style interpretation of the style, with less depth, more sweetness and decidedly more brown sugar than in the best examples of the style.

Growler from brewery, black beer, almond colored head. Aroma is dark malt, dusty dark chocolate, dark toast. Taste is dark malt, dark chocolate, toast, coffee. Palate is smooth, nicely rich without being thick and syrupy, carbonation moderate, almost nitro like. This was universally liked by the group, which is a surprise considering this is it a hops living crowd. Nice beer!

BOTTLE. (Batch 612). Pours a clear golden/caramel with thin dissipating head.. Nose is flat out caramel malt.. Sappy malt front, caramel dominant, goes to a sticky yet real hoppy middle/end, goes bitter in aftertaste, brewer description is solid.. Sourced one of the Waikiki ABC store

Big Island Malolo Special Pale
Draft pour at the Shelton Brothers Festival. One of my last pours of the fest. 10th Hawaii rating - not that itís that hard to do anymore now that Kona and Maui are distributing everywhere. Pours a cloudy gold color with a big white head that forms a lasting cap. The hops do a lot of lifting here, giving it notes of herbs, cedar, grass, wildflowers, and citrus zest. Pale and toasty malt backbone. Light-bodied, with medium soft carbonation and a bitter, earthy, woody mouthfeel. Nice, zesty pale ale.

Bomber. Orange-gld, almost clear, with lace. Spicy nose, honey, oranges, nice Belgian yeast. Sweet malty flavor, spicy and peppery. Fully, silky body. Honey comes through. Very interesting spicy, peppery finish that appears to be only from the yeast.

From the bottle into a snifter. Pours a dark brown colour, small cream head. No lacing around the glass. Really light on the aromas, even as it warms. Coffee, espresso, roasted malts, vanilla. Matching taste - more coffee and bitterness dominate. Okay overall

Big Island Overboard IPA
Tap @ Hapuna Beach Hotel 8/1/16. A deep brownish amber color with a white head. I almost did not take this for an IPA. It was rich in malts, somewhat sweet, had a Belgian sweetness to it but at the end of the day just enough hops to balance it out and keep it interesting. Not an IPA I would return to but interesting enough on its own.

Clear orange color with a beige head. Sweet malts, orange marmalade, treacle, citrusy hops. Sweet, tangy, mineraly....has a sweet citrus follow, like a kids breakfast cereal that fades to a bitter aftertaste. Light carbonation, alcohol noticeable in the aftertaste, warming. Not bad but didnít make any noticeable impression on me.
