Indie Alehouse Zombie Apocalypse
Bottle from bottle shop. From the label and name was expecting a glowing green beverage but sadly it poured a dark chocolate brown colour. The bourbon barrel aged brew had the lovely aroma of bourbon and a lightly bitter taste. Added to an au jus also made a fabulous addition to a gravy.

Slightly sweet at first, kind of orange peel - then a big hit of pine, citrus and grassy hops. Very easy to drink, wish it was a regular beer at Indie and Barhop. Love the light orange cloudy look of this beer as well.

BAM - hop aroma is among the best I’ve had, full body and quite dry at the end. Pretty much a simple straight up IPA - nothing out of style, very much like something you would get in Southern California. Lighter than expected based on flavour, hard to believe its 5%

2016-12-22. Hazy ruby brown body with a moderate beige head fades. 3+ Aroma is lightly woody, dark cherry fruit. Flavour is lactic and tart up front, cherry, fairly sour throughout. Average plus bodied palate, good carbonation. Not as much depth as some of their sours but possibly more assertively sour than some. Quite enjoyable. 7-8/4/7-8/3/16-17 Bottle shared by Kory.

Indie Alehouse Zombie Apocalypse (Bourbon)
Best special edition stout Ive had in a very long time. Vanilla and bourbon notes are big but not overpowering, all the richness and body of the regular version, with an enhanced overall flavour and mouthfeel. Very intense, the couple sitting next to me at the bar almost fell off their chairs, but it would be worth it.

Amazingly rich and smooth, perfect mouthfeel for a big rich stout that enhances the rich subtle sweetness, deep malt and roast and lingering bitterness. Might be a bit too strong to drink every day but I could try.

Guest tap at Tooth and Nail Brewpub. Pours a nice big frothy tan head and has a fairly dark amber appearance with reddish highlights. Thick dirty lacing. Aromas of light toasty malts, resin and earthy hops, hints of coffee. Flavours are mainly malty, toasty, some nice notes of coffee, dry fruits, resin hops. Smooth and slick mouthfeel. Average carbonation. A very faint smokey like finish. Pretty good.

A reddish copper ale with a very thin off white head. In aroma, sweet ground cherry, light Brett, light lactic notes, very nice, complex. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with loads of dark fruits, plums, ground cherries, lactic acid notes, light cork character, Brett, beautiful. On tap at BTP’s Carnival 2016.

Top 5 beers ever for me. Fresh, huge hops and still a big malt body to balance. Aroma can be detected two tables away, really. Its bitter, very very bitter but finish is pine, sweet, citrus and juice. More than a one note double IPA, its a symphony or bitter and body.

[Cask at ’Cask Days 2016’] First beer of the fest, here we go! Pours a murky yellow-orange with an average size lasting bubbly white head. Really nice hoppy aroma, fruity and earthy, with some malt way in the back -- pretty much just hops, in a good way. Fruity and hempy hop flavour, quite hoppy but easy to drink, with a long bitter finish -- just a touch watery but appropriate for cask. Average bodied. Really good.

On tap at Indie Ale House. Deep pink colour with finely bubbled white head. Smells of raspberries, with some faint lemon. Very tart raspberry flavour, with some lingering lemon. After about half a glass I found the very tart raspberriness became tiresome.

My new fav. Aroma is huge, huge citrus hops and hint of pineapple. Smells like a big IPA, tastes like a complex sour with body. Minimal bitterness, more tart and lemon/citrus in the end. The body is the surprising part, not thin, not weird or muddled. Kind of sweet and sour at one point, but easy drinking for a lot going on. The combo of the aroma and finish - best of both IPA and Sour worlds. Need more!

Weird even for these guys, but it works as they usually do. The coconut aroma is faint, but comes through in the finish - which makes this so much more than a pineapple sour (which would be great too). The funk and pineapple don’t overpower some how and the body is not thin at all. Is nothing like you would expect and everyone who tried it bought it. Weird and wonderful.

Back on tap after an absence at the brewpub. So rich for a wheat beer, maybe thats why I like it more than others. Botanicas on the aroma enough yeast character to know its not a light beer and citrus and coriander in the finish. Great with food or on its own. May be untypical of Wit beers, but a damn fine beer.

[Cask at brewpub] Pours a hazy yellow-gold with a small long-lasting frothy white head. Good amount of lacing. Rating 7300! [Draught at brewpub] An anniversary beer from my local, which I love, seems like an apropos choice for a milestone. Pours a deep amber-brown with an average size diminishing frothy off-white head. Nice aroma (8+) of tart cherries, red wine, wood, a hint of metal, some chocolate, raspberries and more. Flavour (7+) is really tart and sour, it’s mouth puckering! It’s really all tart berries. The alcohol is hidden. Average to medium bodied. You gotta love Sours to drink this, and I do!

Nice to see such a low abv on a barrel aged beer. This was great.

Finish is slightly sweet, lots more malted wheat, and some sharp green hop cones and more citrus. Not bad, not great.

on tap at beau’s oktoberfest 2016 - the craft haüs. hazy medium dark golden pour with a small very creamy white head, good retention and lacing. spicy/peppery melons and mangoes, golden fruity maltiness, bit of toasts - but no caramel per se; chalk, clean yeast action. moderate carbonation, light body - oily; balanced tropical-citrusy-grapefruity finish. between old-school and modern ipa - enjoyed this clearly above average ipa.

Draught at Ceili Cottage. Golden orange with a slight haze and creamy head that leaves a lot of nice lace. Aroma and flavour are chock full of lovely green hops - the aroma in particular is like sticking your nose into a pile of fresh picked hops. I know it’s lazy to call a beer "hoppy" but that’s literally what this beer smells and tastes like - not citrus or pine or pineapple or whatever, but pungent and bitter hops. Which is fine by me.

Dark and malty, sweet fruity aroma, initial sweetness like a belgian double, candy sugar and then the pumpkin spices kick in. Subtle but not muted. Not like a pumpkin pie, but like a gentle spicing. Slightly too sweet to drink easily, but very flavourful and well balanced for a big flavour beer.

Happy this is back at the pub, such an interesting beer with the perfect balance between IPA and some kind of funky Belgian beer. Bitterness is big, but fruity and dry finish make it very drinkable. Was put onto this beer by some regulars at the bar and so glad I tried it. Harder to find outside of the brewery, but worth tracking down when available.

On tap at Beaus Oktoberfest. Sweet strawberries and pineapple aroma, with moderate sweet light caramel malt. Hazy dark gold under a persistent, lacy, white sheet. Grapefruit and resinous flavour balanced perfectly by light caramel malt backbone, which is likewise balanced by an assertive grapefruit peel bitterness. Medium light body, medium carbonation, crisp with bitterness.

So good. Loving the brett IPAs all over, this is top 2 or 3 for sure. Has the freshness of an IPA and hop aroma and the funky tang and straw notes of the brett. Could not find out what hops they used, but was a perfect match to the brett. Praying this is not a one off.
