Double Trouble Trailer Park Boys Freedom 35
Pours clear gold with a big white head. Jesus Murphy that’s a lot of head. Aroma is lightly malky. Do you mean Malty? Yeah that’s what I said. Taste is slightly sour with a bit of malt sweetness. There are hints of malt and grassy hops. It’s all very inoffensive. The beer lies somewhere between helles and pilsener. I’d rather have a rum and coke but if I have to have a light lager it’s not bad I guess.

473ml can. Clear yellow with a fat white head. Aroma - sweet malt and grassy hops. Taste - grain, bread and grassy hops, mild bitterness and a hoppy aftertaste. Goes down easy, I didn’t mind this. Pair with chicken chips and pepperoni.

473ml can pours a clear pale golden colour with a finger and a half of white head that leaves some spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is grassy and grainy. Taste is a grassy hop bitterness with a light malty sweetness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Overall, a decent brew for the style, only slightly better than a typical macro brew.

Double Trouble Hops and Robbers IPA
Keg at Manx Pub, Ottawa. Almost clear pale amber, small head. Restrained grapefruit aroma. Dryish with medium body and clean mouthfeel. Piney grapefruit that turns into powerful resiny bitterness. A straightforward hop bitterness assault.

Can, Ann Arbor, MI va Mulmur. Iced tea amber appearance. Floral ginger aroma. Some muscado sugar. Ginger flavour, really about it, some hops fight through the ginger at the finish.

Fruitiness from yeast probably was to warm during fermentation. Nice head. Aroma is yeast as well. Hop bite at end. I actually had an allergic reaction to this beer.

Double Trouble French Press Vanilla Stout
Appearance: near opaque deep brown with ruby highlights, one fat finger of fluffy beige head, good retention and spotty lacing. (4/5) Aroma: vanilla, espresso, sweet roasty malt, chocolate. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter, light metallic. (4/10) Medium-light body tending watery, moderate-low carbonation, slightly astringent mildly bitter finish. (2/5) Starts off promising, with dark and rich color and an excellent fluffy head. The aroma is pleasant, with sweet vanilla and dark coffee dominating malt. Unfortunately, things fall apart pretty emphatically with the flavour and mouth feel, with a metallic tinge and a thin body falling off to watery. Not terrible, but definitely not a great example of the style. (11/20)

Double Trouble Hops and Robbers IPA

Double Trouble Fire in the Rye
Pours a hazed ruddy brown/red with a soft thick creamy head. Good retention and lacing. Sweet nose of spicy rye-grass apple, brown sugar, and toasted bread. Good mouthfeel. Lots of peppery rye flavour. Spicy and sweet. Body is medium low, with prickly carbonation. Nutty roast caramel. Traces of metallics, wood, earth, and very faint cocoa. Big cereal backbone, and the medicinal herbal hops play well with the rye. I think the bitterness is overstated, or at the very best balanced with the malt. Finish is filled with mint, which offers a little bit of an unexpected strange chest cooling sensation... because there’s no mint in the flavouring. More people should be playing with rye-beers. They’re always interesting.

Double Trouble Hops and Robbers IPA
Thick, frothy head! Malty, sweet palate with a bitter finish. Not what I was expecting or hoping for, from a microbrewed IPA. As one reviewer has already noted, this is more of an extra pale ale. In that respect, it’s decent. As an IPA, well it really isn’t one, so I guess I’m disappointed!

A grassy, spicy and sweet aroma that doesn’t promise much. Lemony hops and bready malts compete for the taste. Definitely an EPA; not an IPA

Double Trouble Grow A Pear
Thought the name was amusing so bought a can at the LCBO in Hamilton. Light cloudy gold with a lime green tint and a musty pear aroma. Light bodied and very dry. The taste is pear, tart a bit earthy and dry with a residual sweetness. Not bad though most ladies who tried it were looking for something sweeter.

Double Trouble Prison Break Breakout Pilsner
Hazy straw color with a golden hue, very strong amount of activity. Slightly frothy white 2 finger head, lasting around 5 minutes, with a good amount of legs. Aromas of cookies, caramel, and herbs. Flavors of caramel, roasted grains, faint citrus, noble spices. Slightly grassy and bready. Strong pleasant sugary thickness from soft and tender caramel. Slick light to medium body with a perfect sharp amount of carbonation. Light and short finish, ending with grassy noble spices, and a sharp lemony feel. Overall a good quality craft having decent flavors and nice sharp freshness. Good balance but a little faint, but still quite good. Lacking some body. Nice mix of herbal spices.

Saw a picture of it in a glass looked unfiltered so for a pilsner it had a chance to be OK. Not so much, but way better than the "usual" crap calling itself "Craft" pilsner. Tasty yes , better than most. I find pils a challenging catagory. Refreshing yes but just lacking in character. Guess I am just and ale guy at heart, unfiltered hopped up love it, lagers and pils good not my idea of great
