Monkey Paw Muriqui
On tap at Monkey Paw, pours a hazy full golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out dank herbal hops, some pot, and dry biscuity malt. Flavour is thick and potent, with tons of hop juice, some resins, some pine and sweet biscuity malt. Intense and bordering on abrasive. Nice extreme IPA.

Monkey Paw Meaty Beety Big N Bouncy
On tap at Monkey Paw, pours an opaque bright pinkish red with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out subdued beet juice upfront, with even more subdued resinous hops. Flavour is big on the resinous hops upfront, with only a touch of beets. From the appearance, one would expect much more beet presence, and I’d actually like some more. Solid IIPA as is.

Monkey Paw Rich Man’s IIPA
On tap at Monkey Paw, pours a hazy bronze with a small beige head. Aroma brings out resinous hops, bready malt and maybe a touch of butter. Flavour is massive, with resinous hops, caramel malt and a hint of butter. Nicely balanced and thankfully the butter is also minor. Okay.

Monkey Paw / Marin Funky Sea Monkey
Keg at Marin. Pours unclear...grey...with a creamy white head. The nose holds light tangy berries, some salt water, brine, lemon. Light sweet flavour with salty bite, lemony acidity. Light bodied with average carbonation. Dry in the finish, with further lemony acidity, salt, mild sweetness. Honestly, it’s not that bad.

Monkey Paw Thank You
Type: .25L draft Glass: Panama 66 snifter From: Tiger! Tiger! in North Park (San Diego), Calif. Price: $7.00 Purchased: Jan. 5, 2017 Consumed: Jan. 5, 2017 Reviewed as: American Double / Imperial IPA Misc.: N/A This was going to be a very quick review unfortunately due to being rushed. Haven’t had as many Monkey Paw beers as I would have liked, but wanted to have this one, maybe the final one brewed by Cosmo. Didn’t know much about it going in,only that it was a big IIPA. Very dark in this place, but appeared to be a straw gold-to-deep gold yellow color with 3-to-4 fingers of rocky white head when I got it. Light bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass from what I could tell. World-class foamy layered lacing. Excellent foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50) Smelled tropical, citrus, floral, dank, honey, pine and resin. (Smell - 4.00) Tasted boozy up front. Rather spicy as well, guessing Centennial and Simcoe for hops among others. Also floral, tropical, resin and somewhat malty overall. (Taste - 3.75) Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Boozy finish. (Feel - 3.50) Not as balanced as I’d hoped. Pretty good, but not great. (Overall - 3.75) 3.83 86 B+

Monkey Paw 16th & F - Saison
November 9th, 2014 - Monkey Paw is a lovely new discovery for me, small, quaint, and pushing out great beer at prices that attract graduate students and their meagre budgets. This is not my first Monkey Paw beer, but it is the first time it dawned on me how often I’d come here if the location were marginally more convenient. But it is not, so I try to make the most of my visits, like today, where I dip into the style of the season and secure a saison. The color is mostly transparent, save for the condensation on the glass frosting the view, with a lovely golden glow and a thick, inch of foam. The aroma is dry and almost odorless, with just a hint of bread, like matzoh. The flavor is light and slight, with an atmospheric sheen of pear, but served on a nice thick palate, giving the impression of a thick piece of bread with a slight fruit glaze of jam on top.

Monkey Paw Low & Slow Rauchbier
I love the smokey taste of a traditional German Rauchbier and Monkey Paw doesn’t disappoint with this beer. Although I will say it is a a slightly sweeter smoke profile than I am used to with this style. If your looking to pair this with food it goes with just about any red meat from steak to sausage. Just a very fun beer.

Monkey Paw Gibbon Back
On tap @ Monkey Paw. Slightly hazed golden beer with a sticky, soapy white head. Dank, citrus, and some pine. A huge grapefruit and orange rind character. There’s plenty of pineapple and a touch of weed, too. Decently bitter, but not overdone by any means. Pretty nice fruity hop flavor and a solid enough beer overall.

On tap @ Monkey Paw. Clear golden orange beer with a thick white head. Super huge vanilla aroma and flavor on this. A lot of honey, orange, and apricot jam. Very, very sweet beer. Tastes like liquid graham cracker and honey. Just a fuckton of sugar, caramel, and vanilla. Sheesh. A little bit much.

Monkey Paw Dark Side of Paradise
On tap @ Monkey Paw. Pretty much black in color with a tan head. Kind of an ashy and almost root beer character to it. Lots of vanilla, toasted nuts, and some dark fruits. I guess there’s some nuttiness to it? Kind of a bitter roast, ash, and coffee note. A lot of sweet root beer and vanilla. This is a little bit rough for me.

Monkey Paw Same Day XPA
On tap @ Monkey Paw. Clear golden beer with a sticky white head. There’s a really strong cereal/grainy note and a bunch of popcorn to it. Some passion fruit and dried pineapple are there in the background. While there is some mild fruit, particularly citrus and some tropical notes, it’s just super grainy and not terribly enjoyable. Maybe a bit of a dried flower note to it. Meh.

Monkey Paw / Pizza Port Fear the Underdog IPA
On tap @ Monkey Paw. Looks to be almost amber in color and has a white head on top. The hop profile here is more on the grassy and herbal side than I’d normally expect. It also has a pretty substantial toasted and caramel malt profile and sweetness. High bitterness. Some citrus flavors. This is really just not the kind of beer I enjoy much these days. Meh.

Black pour under a thick rich tan head. Super delightful aroma of chocolate cake and cupcake frosting. Smooth chocolaty flavor that’s rich and surprisingly clean and bright, with just a little roasty malt backbone to make it slightly two dimensional. Not as tasty as the nose promised.
