Medium amber. Medium body, simple, moderately intense and coarse flavor, tame mouthfeel with low carbonation and heat, average length and hard finish. Bitter, dry. Hoppy, more of the bittering type. Nothing in it for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Revival You Thirsty? IPA
Hazy medium brown. Mango and guava in Nose. Medium body lots of guava and mangoes with crackers malt backbone. Fairly aggressive bitterness, but not super well balanced. Enjoyable but a bit more body and higher abv could have made this a bit better. Still good hop character.

Revival Fanny Session IPA
16 oz. can purchased at Craft Beer Cellar, Amesbury. Aroma is pretty weak, musty grain and light resin. The "session" IPA can end up to thin and watery in body and mouthfeel. Unfortunately, this is super thin and watery. The grain backbone is also in the form of caramel. The hop profile is also weak.

I have liked Revival’s beers in the past but this is borderline disgraceful. Maybe a draft pour would fair better? I am not a fan of watered down IPA’s.

Revival Daring India Pale Lager
Bomber to lager glass, the appearance was a hazy burnt copper golden color with a two finger semi-rocky white foamy head that fell off at a moderate pace. Some light stringy lace. The aroma had an interesting blend of semi-spicy hops to some piney bitter hops and some green tea and lime sliding in underneath. The flavor was a semi-sweet to spicy combination of the hops to the tea taste. Aftertaste was quaint and semi-smooth, sly sweet. Finish was brisk, somewhat tea-like but not too much. The palate was almost medium bodied but falling short just a pinch yet making a pretty good sessionably smooth feel not too harsh along my tongue. Overall, pretty decent India pale lager, that tea thing is a bit different for this style, but I didn’t get the mint that was supposedly in this.

Revival Double Black IPA
Treated as an imperial black IPA, this was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a black color with a cap of a little eggshell white foamy head. Some messy lace. The aroma had some coffee, light bitter pine/somewhat sprucy, citrus rind, subtle earthiness, sly wood, dark chocolate and a little bit of grassiness. The flavor was moderately bitter with a touch of the sweet and roast nipping at the back end. Aftertaste was semi-roasty, bitter, hint of sweet. Finish nipped at some roast and pine. The palate was medium bodied with a good grip of the sipping aspect coming about. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, pretty nice imperial black IPA. I’d have this again.

Revival White Electric Coffee Stout
Tap. Aroma has the promised coffee and chocolate notes but not overwhelmingly. Colour is a cloudy dark brown with tan cream top. The taste has predictably sweet flavours that overstay their welcome a little. Carbonation medium to lively. And while the finish on the palate is bitter it is not smoothly managed - like an extra strong mint at the end of a meal

Revival Larkin's Irish Stout
Picked this up on special for $3 a pint (branded Revival Larkin’s Ice Fight) and it was surprisingly not terrible considering the rate. The appearance is a deep dark black with a thin head for a stout. The taste is malty and smoky like charcoal filtered chocolate milk, fairly similar in affect and dimensions to a Guinness but a little less blunt and cloying. This isn’t the kind of thing I would drink every day, but overall, it is a fine example of the type if still nothing to write home about. Good for wrapping up a threefer of reviews after a lovely night out with your boo boo.

EBF Boston 2017. Santa sangre.

Revival Up Ship's Kriek
Draught at EBF, 2/3/17.
Dark zinfandel body has lighter/brighter red cherry tints and moderate amber hues on the edges. Head is small, falling fully. Clarity is medium.
Strong grape tannin in the nose with huge pepper notes, bready, odd malts and spoiled fruits giving way to big acetic notes that eventually just turn to straight vinegar.
Spoiled, vinegar, rotted fruit with a flimsy, watery body and lots of thinness. Strong vinegar lingers. Nope.

Revival Rocky Point Red Ale
Poured into a mug, the appearance was a muddy dark red color with a thin layer of white foamy head that dissipated fairly quick. Stringy lace. The aroma had toast, biscuits, caramel, black tea, orange marmalade and a touch of woodiness. Grassy hops send a decent balance. The flavor had some semi-sweet maltiness playing with the grassy hops dryly. And then combines for the aftertaste. Malty smooth aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Low carbonation. ABV felt where it says it is. Overall, good Irish red ale that I would have again.

Revival Bonfire Brown Ale
This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a brown color with a slight transparency about it. Just a cap of a little white head that gently just slid outwards. No lacing. The aroma had some caramel to toffee malts, light brown sugar, gentle roasty tones. Light spicy to grassy hops. The flavor leaned to the sweet side and had a slight chocolate underneath. Moderate blend in the aftertaste. Subtle roasty to sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt just right. Overall, nice American styled brown ale that isn’t overly hoppy but still could bring in some hopheads to at least try.
