Franklins Smoked Chilli Porter
From cask by gravity on the second day of Plymouth Camra Beer Festival 2016. Jet black body. Not much head or lace. Black malty aromas, nicely roasted. Smoked malty flavours with a touch of oatmeal. The heat from chipotle chili towards the ending is not overdone, but well integrated. Nice and warming (Shared with Finn 24.09.2016).

Franklins A Is For A Bitter Pills To Swallow
My Bottom Line:
This bitter lager confuses the palate with a few buttery notes alongside citrusy tips and lax sweetness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A film of head tops the really hazy blond.
-Malts are rather flimsy (lazy sugars) for what is supposed to be a refined brew.
-Hop bitterness is herbal.
-This lacks flavour clarity and as such doesnít provide a pleasant Pilsener experience.

On tap at The Crown, Hastings.

My Bottom Line:
This straightforward Bitter builds biscuits, oranges and bitter leaves into a suave pint.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam laces around the translucent amber.
-Flavors are perfectly aligned and well developed.
-The mouthfeel is comfortable and almost chewy.
-This is yet another unmemorable but highly efficient Bitter.

On cask at The Crown, Hastings.

Franklins Pudding Stout
Cask half-pint at The Crown Inn, Oakengates Shropshire on 2nd Jan 2016. Coffee and chocolate esters rise from this dark brew with itís well tanned head: those esters turn into mouth watering flavours to give a rich and smooth tasting Stout. Very drinkable indeed.

Cask @ The Black Lion (Brighton) Great staff! First look provides a golden Amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is earthy at first with a fruity citrus hop just lingering ever so slightly behind. Very easy drinking bear that is bitter, but not overly so and also has a good balance of citrus hop flavor notes of Mango & Tangerine that please the palet, not overwhelm it.
