Can at home. Pours clear golden, little to jo head. Aroma is light wheat, faint grain. Not much going on. Taste is light hefeweizen, wheat and faint yeast. Definitely a different take on the style, much more tame than others. Ok.

Tap at Brews Brothers, Galveston TX. Murky amber color, tiny mostly vanishing beige head. Caramalt aroma. Light-bodied. Watery. Light caramel, a bit of mentholic hops. Light toastyness maybe. Very easy. I wonder if keg was a bit dead.

Light, but nice hop aroma. Earthy. Pours crystal clear amber with a quick fading white head. Nice, low, pleasant sweetness. Easy bitterness keeps things balanced. Malt flavor is not complex but good low toast. Gentle carbonation and medium body. Good basic beer.

Bottle to glass - pours clear and as gold as gold as gold, eggshell head, hanging lace. Aroma is earthy, celery and cracker. Medium bodied. Gives way to a bit more of a bready sweetness, maybe apple with an herbal edge, decent bitterness, traces of powdery cocoa and caramel towards the end. Pretty good.

Floral/grassy aroma. Taste is all juicy and no bitterness. Have to say in general I like single malt scotch more than single hop IPA. Hmm, I guess I like single malt scotch more than just about any IPA though so never mind.

Can. Pours a lovely deep amber with orange and peach highlights. Nose is interesting, given there are two unusual hops in this beer (Jarrylo and Idaho #7); papaya, floral notes white pepper, cheese rind, earth, pine needles, mushrooms. Very pleasant nose. On the tongue, thereís bitterness up front, followed by a caramel malt sweetness; more tropical fruit and more earthen notes follow. Itís quite deep and complex without being rich or overbearing. Finishes clean and bitter. Very well put together; not your typical citrus bomb at all, but something more restrained, mature, and yet willing to kick you with its intensity.

Pedernales Classic IPA
San Antonio, TX - Total Wine & More - The Rim - 12 oz bottle. Medium golden pour, slight haze, tight white head that leaves some spotty lacing. Aroma has odd peanut-like accents for an IPA. Flavor leaves a lot to be desired, some vegal notes, some of that same peanut-like essence, some raw organic soy bean like essence. Mouthfeel is slightly pasty. Maybe I just got a bad bottle - will try again when in the area again,.

Bottle. Pours a dark gold-amber with a shallow, mixed-grain, lacy, sticky head. Nose is tangelo, papaya, rosemary, sage, and a touch of earth. On the tongue, itís very interesting; while the hops deScription talks about tropical fruit, I didnít get as much of that as I did on the nose. I did get the berries, but to me most of what I got were earthy, loamy notes; mushroom, moss, spruce, greens. At times, there were overtones similar to an aged Burgundy. It was funky, and kind of fun. Finish lasted for freakiní EVER. This series of beers is teaching me things, and I like that.

Bottle. Pours a crystal-clear, lambent gold with a high, fluffy, lacy, fine-grained white head. Nose is esters, banana, clove, nutmeg, papaya, hard cheese, and moss rose -- quite complex. Sweet up front on the tongue, but with a vibrant, lemony acidity; complexity is still there, with baking bread, nutmeg, clove, and more tropical fruit all present. Finishes soft and clean with spice cake notes. Well done.

Pedernales Texas Hop Bomb SMaSH IPA (2016)
Bottle, numbered #1 and dated 2016: Pilsen malt, Jarrylo hops. Pours a deep gold with a mixed-grained, lacy, high, off-white head. Nose is banana, tangerine, lime candy, and a little rose. On the tongue, itís sweet, with more banana and pear notes (gee, it hits its hops profile). After that, an abrupt, crisp, almost short bitterness kicks in. My only complaint is it needs more acid; the flavor seems a little muted. Finish is long, bitter, and a little abrasive. Itís interesting.
