Copper-amber colored brew with a luscious off-white beigeish head. Floral hop and sweet candi malt notes in the aroma with a touch of cereal grain around the periphery. Green hop and bitter body, twangy, alcohol notes. Some tannins and off-bitter notes. A disarray of qualities that never quite come together.

Pours beautifully, a dark, sunset haze with one finger of a thick cream foam head. 16 oz can that really stands out in a case of mixed singles. Will catch the eye of the craft brew fan and nostalgic gamer of any level at the same time. I'm all about a double hop double malt IPA, and this one brings all the flavor, while drinking as smooth as your seasonable ale. Body is thicker, and coats with a juicy, fruit fronted hop profile. The malt is rich, caramel and cereal late linger. I've been living the cans from these guys that have made it to my local. It's a shame I havent made the trip to try them at the source yet. Very nice double double here.

Serving: from bottle purchased at PCC. Aroma: light cocoa. Appearance: very small, light-brown initial head with fair lace and fully diminishing longevity. Clear, cola-brown body. Taste: lightly sweet, cocoa initial flavor and lightly acidic, cocoa and roasty finish with long duration. Palate: full body with syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Overall: great lasting flavor and aroma.

On tap at the Imbibe Taphouse in Maple Valley, WA. This place has a very nice tap selection of PNW brews. This Puyallup tasted very flavorful and balanced and worthy to take home as a growler. Sorry for the lack of details but I forgot my beer geek notebook and phone for this excursion!!

Puyallup River Mud Mountain Milk Stout
Bomber from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. A big dark tan head falls slowly. Some red in the bottom of the glass of this dark brown beer. I smell chocolate and lactic. Flavor begins with a big mouth full of chocolate. Vanilla and lactic follow. Some roast and citrus. This beer is generally sweet and rich but has a dry side to it. It is earthy with mild bitterness. The finish brings more fruit.

16 oz can poured, picked up at Hop and Hound. A thick, juicy, hazy apple orange pour with a rocky foam head. Tons of Hawaiian like tropical fruit aroma and flavor. Some apple on the nose. Really juicy IPA, with a long lingering bill of all the advertised fruit qualities. A little sweet for me, and heavy on pineapple which I'm not crazy about, but the beer is well made for sure.

473ml can @ home. Pours a hazy golden copper colour with a thin white head. Nose is buttery boiled vegetables with some sort of malts. Flavour is boozy, bitter, and vegetal. Medium to light bodied, light carbonation, and just odd.

Dull, cloudy, not much head. Is this going to be good. The aroma has a light bit of diacetyl, lots of sulphur, too. This tastes the same, too. Definitely something gone wrong. There is a bit of hops, with some fruity note. But the faults. They are significant.

16 oz. can, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Nose is unpleasant, with lots of vegetal notes, some diacetyl, faded resinous hops, and sweet caramel bready malt. Flavour is not quite as offensive, with light diacetyl, vegetal notes, faded resinous hops, and bready notes. Not dialed in right - barely drinkable.

16 oz can poured. Thick pour, juicy golden orange, a cream foam head. A juice heavy peach punch like flavor to this that I enjoy a ton. Slight bitter citrus rind some and flavor. Grassy hops. Cream body. Not at all heavy in the imperial category. Drinks simple and refreshing. Quite a nice IPA here.

Can in Seattle. Bought very recently, but doesn’t present so fresh. Somewhat clouded, but certainly not hazy, dark orange body. Lacing modest head. Nose of fragrant orange skin and bready malt. Bitter orange, some pith, earthy and bitter. Some lighter, perhaps soft, fruit at times but finishes bitter and rough. Not great.

12 oz can poured. Dessert like stout paired with dessert. Always enjoy a pairing. Coffee black tour, a tan cream foam head. Medium roast coffee aroma. A sweet milk chocolate as well. Flavor is a smooth, caramel milk chocolate. Well executed milk stout for my taste. Nice beer here.

Puyallup River Imperial Eggnog Mud Mountain Milk Stout
This shouldn’t work... egg nog stout? But somehow it does. Deep dark with some interesting swirls of flavor. The nose is certainly egg noggy- the taste however is big malt, vanilla and Coca-Cola. Certainly different but very well done.

Pours black with a very small tan head and little lacing. Smell is of mint and cocoa. Taste has a strange mint to it, lots of mint in fact, cocoa, and some licorice in the back. Ends like Binaca on the lips.

Hazy amber. Bubbly head. Fruity and piney but with chewy notes. On the palate, much the same. So an old school chewy IPA, with good balance for that style, but pretty chewy and the hops aren't especially bright - thought maybe if this was 2004 they would be.

22 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out earthy resinous hops, caramel, and bready malt. Flavour reveals earthy hops, bready caramel, and light resins. Uncoordinated and lacking cohesion. Inoffensive, but this just isn't good.

Draft pour to a tulip at Malt and Vine. Dark red, grape juice appearance. Fresh berries aroma here, raspberry jam. Flavor is a ton of jammy red raspberry fruit, which starts a little sweet, and finishes on the more sour side. Berry juicy fruit. Very jammy. Fun and unique beer. Definitely nailed what they were going for here.

Bomber. First half of the bottle was minimally hazy despite trying to swirl some of the setiment. Second half had a lot of yeast floaters and haze. Flavor and aroma is overwhelmingly piney and earthy. Finishes a little sweet. Not a typical tropical or citrusy hazy ipa.

Puyallup River Fresh Hop IPA
Draft pour at Great Pumpkin Beer Fest. Cool that they inserted fresh hops to add to this festival. It is indeed the season for both styles. A lighter, pale yellowish pour. First Simcoe fresh hop this year. Pretty dank on the nose. Somewhat of a grassy and citrus combination of hop flavor. Good hop profile overall. Pretty good.

Puyallup River Cream Ale - Pineapple Ghost Pepper
Bottle in Seattle. Thanks to Andrew, on his quest to try every pepper beer / eventually make it an official style here. Gusher bottle, soft foamy cream on a cloudy glowing pineapple juice yellow body. Muddled cream on nose with a hint of old pineapple. This does pack some heat, which is as much as I would expect. Grows with the glass. I suppose the pineapple and cream base work well as a supporting palate for this heat. Green heat, rises and burns a little. If you like heat you’ll like that aspect of this. Base is flabby but fine. Works better than I expected.

Draft pour pint at Puyallup. Plastic pint. State fair. Golden orange pour with a thin fizz head. Quite refreshing, though much could be owed to how difficult it is to find a good beer on these grounds. Crisp, earthy hops, soft malt linger late. Modest touch of bitterness to pair. An orange peel like bitterness. Orange fruit slightly in the flavor as well. Other than that, a pretty standard IPA for me. Good, but not great.
