[8888-20161116] Can. Fragrant vanilla-infused maple hoppy leaf aroma. Hazy, dark orange body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Bitter maple leaf wood and hoppy evergreen flavour. Medium-full body is quite bitter but it dissipates quickly. Good. (8/4/8/4/15) 3.9

Had this on tap at Daravara and I must say that this complimented my meal perfectly. It was jet black with a somewhat frothy, light tan head. Very malty with a touch of bitterness.

Rating #2375 - 2016.03.11 - On draught @revolutionyeg. I have had many times, not sure why rating was missed in previous notes. Pours a clear, golden yellow with a bubbly white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is grassy, mild caramel. Taste is lighter body, mild earthy/grass bitterness, a hint of sweetness. A very plain lager.

Aroma of clove, orange, vanilla. Appearance is a hazy light Amber. With lots of sediment in suspension. Taste is orange, banana, clove, vanilla, bubblegum, grapefruit. Palate is medium bodied with a nice back palate bitterness to round out the front end sweetness. Overall- a very good white IPA. Has distinct characteristics of a witbier and an IPA.

Cloudy light amber color. It’s a malt soup, tastes like some Barley Wine, fairly sweet, a bit orangey, it has enough bitterness but the focus is not on the hops here. Flat carbonation.
Weird as IPA, but not a bad beer.

Ribstone Creek Lone Bison IPA
12 oz. can, pours a cloudy bright orange with a tiny white head. Aroma brings out piney hops, caramel malt sweetness and some orange juice. Flavour is quite sweet, with lots of oranges, caramel malt, and some pine. Almost flat carbonation, which only brings out the sweetness even more. Too much malty sweetness and a weak palate make this one fairly unappealing.

Ribstone Creek Great White Combine IPA
Transparent golden yellow coloured body with a fair amount of coagulated sediment containing a recognizably large frothy white head that lingers. Relatively potent aroma particularly hop forward with notes of citrus, lemon, grass, yeast, and meager banana. Mid bodied and smooth. Robust flavour that emphasizes hops, corresponding with the aroma. Although a presence of yeasty banana is detectable, the majority of the taste is devoted to a grassy citrus hop flavour with a bitter, lingering finish. One of the hoppier white ipa’s I have experienced heretofore.

Can shared with blackhaddock in his man cave. Many thanks to Duffman for this. Pours hazy orange with a large white head. Big cardamom spice aroma. Taste is super spicy but vibrant and flavoursome, very much like a hoppy Wit. Great mid-share beer.

355ml can, shared with minutemat on 5th Aug 2016. Cloudy orange pour, big head of foaming white bubbles. Spicy and herbal in nature with an aroma that tells you straight away this is no ordinary IPA. I liked the blending of the malts (wheat too?) and herbal, hoppiness with maybe some Belgian yeast? Most enjoyable.

Ribstone Creek Great White Combine IPA
Rating #1733 - 2015.06.05 - On tap @revolutionyeg Hazyish light golden orange with a small white head - taking the "white IPA" to the level of aggressively dry-hopping a Belgian wit, essentially. Some bitterness to keep it interesting, but this is more of a patio creature than a NW IPA, white or not.

Ribstone Creek Great White Combine IPA
Appearance: hazy deep gold with one finger of rocky ivory head, good retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: clove/coriander, white pepper, citrus, pine, wheat. (8/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter, mild pepper. (8/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, mild bitter and spicy finish. (4/5) The usual suspects call this an American IPA, but I beg to differ. It’s definitely a White IPA, or a Belgian-style IPA if you want to be old-school about it, but that’s not much more accurate than the A/IPA designation. Ultimately, this is a great example of why BJCP formally added White IPA as a style as of 2015: it really does marry two very disparate styles to create something entirely new. The aromas are definitely dominated by a Witbier-like pepper and coriander, whether actual spice and/or Belgian yeast, but that’s quickly followed by a citrus and pine hoppiness that wouldn’t normally be present in a wit. Nope, this is its own beast, similar to how the Black IPA is, but I think I prefer this style - and the is a good example of that style. Ribstone Creek has really hit this one out of the park.
