Triple Digit Turtle Chickow!
Sample at GABF 10/07/2017, thanks to my bro for assistance with note-taking. Hazy dark brown color with a medium beige head that diminishes gradually. Patchy lace. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and caramel. Full-bodied with a malted milk ball character and notes of caramel malt and roasted nuts. The finish is sweet with a chocolate malt and caramel aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Triple Digit Skyline Chickow!
Draft to taster in a flight at Listermann. Pours a dark caramel brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have big Cincinnati chili spice character, chili powder, cinnamon, chocolate, over Chickow, lighter caramel, no hazelnut getting through, not my favorite but they do a sixth barrel every year specifically for the Crosstown Shootout and then it's gone, worth trying a 4 oz taster if you can for the locals.

Triple Digit Cranium - Brunch
12 ounce bottle thanks to Chad. Dark and deep black with some molasses/maple in nose and a lot of vanilla in body. That maple is strong. Not a lot of coffee for me.

Triple Digit Coconut Chickow!
Sampled at GABF 2017 with Paul and Larry; tried the coconut variant after the "turtle" hazelnut treated version. Pours a deep black body with thin ring of lace. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with notes of sugar, melted chocolate brownie, coconut, vanilla and light alcohol. Nice, but a touch too sweet.

Triple Digit Cranium - Brunch
12 oz. bottle from the brewery. Pours a deep, dark, basically opaque brown with a small tan head that settles into a ring. The maple and vanilla dominate the aroma, which is big and sweet, with brown sugar, caramel, molasses, oak, roast, coffee, and bourbon. The flavor isn't quite as sweet most of the way, leaning more boozy, and it's got more balance. Also has some dark and dried fruit. But the barrel almost gives it too much heat and thins everything, as well. Medium-bodied, with a warming, sweet, roasty, slightly bitter mouthfeel. Not the best Cranium variant, but good.

Triple Digit Cranium - Brunch
Draft to mini snifter (x 2) in a flight at the Listermann 9th anniversary party. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have light roasted malts, vanilla, bigger maple syrup, light coffee, wood, sweet but not too crazy that I wouldn't drink one myself, hides the abv nicely.

Triple Digit / Hoppin' Frog Bourbon Barrel Aged Stuff
12 ounce bottle. The beer is a thick black with a khaki head of foam. The aroma has a big vanilla and spice character with a woody backbone. The pepper is mostly covered up in the taste, but in the finish a bit of a tingle comes through. Not spicy, but it does let you know it's there. Big sweet beer. Thick body. Creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06 pour hazy brown with large tan head. Nose big artificial peanut, but I like it. Some nutty. Taste big peanut, other nutty, and some sweet malt. Light cherry undertones. Not as much hazelnut as base but I like it better than a lot of fruited versions.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06 pour hazy brown with large tan head. Nose raspberry cough syrup, chocolate covered cherry, light vegetal. Taste initial sweet raspberry, then cherry flavor, and light mineral. Mid to end comes back to raspberry. To my taste buds I just can't get away from the undertones of Robitussin.

Triple Digit Brandy Barrel Aged Chickow!
12 oz. bottle from seeswo - thanks again, Chris! Pours a cloudy browned amber with a finger of beige head that settles into a ring and film, the film having a bubbly island in the middle. Thick initial head for a Chickow variant. Notes of caramel, brown sugar, oak, vanilla, dark dried fruits, and brandy, giving a grape/apple note and some boozy warmth. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, warming mouthfeel. One of the better Chickow variants. Better than all recent bourbon barrel-aged variants.

Triple Digit Chocolate Marshmallow Chickow!
12 oz. bottle from seeswo - thanks again, Chris! Pours a cloudy browned amber with a moderate beige head that settles into an uneven ring and a wispy thin, incomplete film. Notes of toffee, brown sugar, hazelnut, chocolate, marshmallow, marzipan, booze, root beer, and mild spice. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, sticky mouthfeel. There's a stark difference in the sweetness tones between a barrel-aged and non-barrel-aged Chickow. This is a weird beer all-around, and with each new variant, you never know what you're getting into.

Triple Digit Bourbon Barrel Aged Turtle Chickow!
12 oz. bottle from seeswo - thanks again, Chris! Pours a cloudy amber-brown with a small beige head that settles into a ring and wispy film. Notes of caramel, brown sugar, hazelnut, chocolate, vanilla, oak, bourbon, dark and dried fruits, and a little earth. Soaks up more of the barrel than the other two in this release did. Medium-bodied, with low to modest carbonation and a sweet, sticky, warming mouthfeel. Step up from the other two. Again, could use more carbonation but otherwise is in good shape.

Triple Digit Bourbon Barrel Aged Kopi Luwak Chickow!
12 oz. bottle from seeswo - thanks again, Chris! Pours a hazy brown with some amber highlights and a moderate beige head that settles into a ring and a thin, wispy film. Notes of caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, hazelnut, maple syrup, oak, light bourbon warmth, and coffee, although it's pretty subdued here. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sticky, sweet mouthfeel that coats the palate and lingers. Not the best Chickow variant, as unfortunately these new barrel-aged ones are relatively flat and their adjuncts aren't popping.

Triple Digit Bourbon Barrel Aged Vanilla Blueberry Chickow!
12 oz. bottle from seeswo - thanks again, Chris! Pours a murky chestnut brown with a small beige head that settles into a ring, leaving a few spots of film atop the liquid and a few spots of lace in the glass. Big bourbon barrel and vanilla aroma, with brown sugar, hazelnut, oak, warming bourbon, chocolate, caramel, earth, and tea. Moderate blueberry fruitiness. The mouthfeel is limp and completely flat, with its medium-ish body just washing right away, leaving a little bit of sticky sweetness but mostly not leaving much of an impression on the palate. Some bourbon warmth lingers, too. Faint fruit impressions. Could and should be better.

Triple Digit Bourbon Barrel Aged Vanilla Blueberry Chickow!
Draft at Cappy's 9/14 during the Listermann/Triple Digit tap takeover. Pours the typical hazy caramel brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, hazelnut, some bourbon, mild vanilla and fruity berry notes but this was not as bold as I hoped it would be, still very good, but.... Draft at Listermann during the bottle release and this was better, more vanilla and berry fruitiness.

Draft at Listermann, most recently a 12 oz bottle shared with drsordr. Pours a hazy caramel brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, cherries, chocolate, on the sweet side but so is the base Aftermath, the draft that I had was very good (notes) while the bottle had just a bit of funk to the nose (flavor still solid).

Triple Digit Maple Rye Barrel Aged Chickow!
22 oz. bottle shared by Stefan - thanks again, Stefan! Yellow wax. Bottle 46/60. This was the super limited release of the special rye maple bourbon barrels. I heard they dropped a bottle at the release, too. It pours like other Chickows, kind of cloudy amber-brown with a small beige head that settles into a ring. There’s more maple in this one than others, and more balance. Not as booze-forward as other recent examples I’ve had, either. Vanilla, hazelnut, chocolate, and a bit of earth. A little oak. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, sticky, chewy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. One of the best variants.

Triple Digit Calumet Whiskey Barrel Aged Chickow!
12 oz. bottle from the brewery. Pours a dark chestnut brown, not translucent but not opaque, with a small beige head that settles into a bubbly ring and small island of film. Notes of brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, candied pecans, chocolate, oak, and booze without necessarily clearly being whiskey. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a boozy, sweet mouthfeel. The flavor and mouthfeel don’t quite stand up to the aroma but this is one of the better variants.

Triple Digit Pumpkin Pie Chickow!
Well, it’s late July and Pumpkin Pie Chickow is FINALLY on tap. Not sure why we have to wait all the way until mid-summer for pumpkin ales these days, but they’re satisfying the public’s cravings for cinnamon and nutmeg. This looks like the other Chickows, with a deep amber color and small off-white head settling into a ring. It smells like pumpkin pie, really. And Chickow. Well-rounded, balanced with sweet and spicy. Just right. But the flavor is all out of whack- boozy, spicy, and astringent, and harsh on the palate. Medium-plus bodied, with moderate carbonation and a harsh, bitter, boozy, spicy mouthfeel. Nothing is in balance. Disappointing.

Triple Digit Cranium - Orange
12 oz. bottle from the brewery. Pours a deep, dark, basically opaque brown, near black, with a small tan head that settles into a ring and leaves a single rope of lace in the glass. They add orange as an adjunct in a fair amount of their big malty stuff, and it’s really not my favorite. It adds a cough drop-like citrus note, almost medicinal, and doesn’t really balance things or add depth. They do get the orange-chocolate candy thing, though, and even though I’m not the kind of person who buys chocolate oranges or whatever, I can acknowledge that they pretty much nail that. Bourbon, brown sugar, mild coffee roast, dark chocolate, and vanilla. Medium-bodied, with modest carbonation and a sweet, smooth, rich mouthfeel with a shot of citrus up the middle. Weird beer, but interesting and worth trying.

Triple Digit Cranium - Chocolate
12 oz. bottle from Listermann. Pours a deep, opaque near black with a small tan head that settles into a very thin ring. The big three ingredients - coffee, vanilla, and chocolate - are all there in a big way, especially the sweeter elements, with molasses, dark fruit, charred oak, fudge, roasted malts, and a bit of syrup. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel that finishes more sweet and sticky. Just a wee bit flat but the flavor and everything else is good. Tasty and balanced.
