Virtue Michigan Harvest
Another really nice cider from Virtue. This one a little less dry than Lapinette, but no less refreshing. Granny Smith throughout. Tried with Jess at Boulevardia in 2017.

Really liked this cider. Exceptionally dry, very champagne like. On the brutally hot day that was Boulevardia 2017, this was a necessary change of pace.

Tasted at a Goose island brewery office bottle share. I needed a sweet cider to rinse out a particularly smoky beer before this. This is a clean, yellow cider color. Apples in the nose. The taste starts with a bit of sugar, but then becomes quite dry. Despite the dry finish, it still has a bit of sweetness in its apple flavor.

750mL bottle, pours a clear dull blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out light sweetness, some champagne effervescence and bone dry apples. Flavour is bone dry, with light champagne, bone dry apples, and light wild yeast. Not the most complex brut, but it’s very pleasant.

On tap at Ellyn's Tap & Grill in Glen Ellyn, IL., and snifter served showing a clear & bright, golden hue, with a quickly dissipating, thin ring of foam, and no lacing to speak of. The nose was fruity perfume of slightly ripened apple, and subtle spice. The taste was similar notes, medium bodied, with light sting from the carbonation, some tartness & tanginess, dryness, and modest earthy & tannic bitterness. Tasty and pleasantly drinkable.

bottle. Pale straw with small head. My first bad experience with Virtue, but this is a band-aid party. Seems like it might be promising without the band-aid, but alas I can't get past it.

Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2017. Pours a crystal clear yellow gold with a bubbly white head that starts and remains at the edges. Aroma has a good amount of dry apple with a bit of a sweet bourbon note baking. Flavor has dry apple throughout with a bit of a BCS bourbon and a bit of sweetness.

Bottle from AJ's. green apples, sharp nose, touch od toffee and cheese. Pale gold with bubbles. Sweet / sharp flavor quite a bit of tannin for an American cider too. Minerals, green apple, prickly tannic finish. Good traditional cider.

Has a strong ripe, apple aroma. Appears golden and slightly sparkling with a white head of minimal proportion. There is a sweet apple taste, with a bit of tartness. Unfortunately, I couldnt tell it was bourbon barrel aged, this would have given a nice depth to the flavor I think. Pretty good for a cider

So this is pretty much what straight-up fermented apple juice w/o much of any wild character, back sweetening or spices added tastes like if anyone was wondering. I’ve never found this type of thing particularly compelling but certainly it makes for a more adult experience than soda-pop like Woodchuck or Angry Orchard. Think very slightly sweet and half-carbonated champagne w/ a distinct floral apple note and a touch of tannin than lingers on the tongue. It’s a pretty refreshing beverage overall if not particularly rich or complex.

On tap @ Tørst. This is a clear looking apple pale yellowish one. No head what so ever. Smells really good. Lots of tart and almost musky apples. Canned pears, a mellow sweetness from yellow apples. What stands most out is the woodies. Really nice aroma. Tastes quite good also this. Its really low in the carbonation, near flat and it has a gliding oily texture in the mouth. Mild tartish and wood dry, yet shining with apple, apple juices and a little vanilla? Ah, a really good cider this. 15.06.2015

TW bottle. Looks like liquid gold. Plastic smell, apples, candy, white wine, bourbon and soap. Highly carbonated and bubbly. The bourbon kicks. It’s sweet finish deducts from the booze, which makes it more wine than bourbon. Simply a good cider.

As much as I prefer to avoid AB-InBev, it’s hard to turn down 750ml bottles of a delicious barrel-aged cider for $8.99. Pours clear and quite pale. Leans to the sweet side, with nice oak and vanilla overtones. Medium body (feels like it’s both light and airy, but with some rounded weightiness behind it), average carbonation. Overall: I enjoyed this immensely.

12oz bottle from City Swiggers. Clear, pale straw-colored, sizzling cider. Bottled on Jun 29 2016. Smell is dominated by clovey/plastic/Play Doh-like esters. Something corky. Turning somewhat floral as it opens up. Taste is sharp, tannic, dry & lingering. Winey finish. Very classic flavors. Yeasty banana esters come through at the end. Not fond of that. Just okay. Not something I’d really want to revisit.

On tap at Ellyn’s Tap & Grill in Glen Ellyn, IL. and dispensed to a large snifter, displaying a clear & bright, golden tone, with a modest layer of white foam that reduced to a persistent ring and light spots of lacing. The nose was apple & skins, subtle spice, and light hints of barrel & vanilla. Medium bodied, the taste was similar notes, with seltzer-like effervescence, a bit of funk, tartness & dryness, and a touch of apple core toward the finish. Tasty, with better than average complexity for a Cider.

Draft at Bru Craft. Crystal clear very pale yellow gold pour. No head but some fizz. The Bourbon barrel flavor is faint but the process certainly smoothed out the finish of what starts as a sharp tart lemon-apple cider. Good oak notes. Chardonnay grapes. More complex honey floral notes come out as it warms. Easy drinking but nice for sipping.
