Drakes Electric Owl
Tap. Copper color with tan ring. Aroma is aromatic coffee, dark malts. Taste is coffee, coffee, coffee. Medium soft carbonation, soft oily mouthfeel. Great beer, but one-dimensional. The coffee is very prominent. But then again, Brown Ale is a subtle style, so when you load it with coffee, you’re gonna load it with coffee.

Drakes IPA
Bottle from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Piney nose, with caramel, peach, apricot, and some mild alcohol fumes. Copper/orange color. Pine, citrus, moderate caramel, more citrus fruit through mid palate and finish. Medium body. Solid IPA. Kind of flirts with being a hop bomb.

Drakes Electric Owl
Bottle from city beer San Fran. Lots of dark roast coffee that shines right through. Almost a vegitable flavor. Bit of citrus from the coffee notes and toffee from the malt in the brown ale base. Not bad.

Mahogany pour. Sweet spicy nose of Christmas bread caramel and burnt sugar. Flavor is sweeter than I’d like but still pleasant.

Pours a nice copper color from a growler. Aroma is piney, citrus, and lots of hops. Taste is nice balance of malty sweetness and a boat load of hops. Medium body with and nicely bitter finish. This is a nice DIPA.

Tap at beerNV. cloudy light orange. Lightly stanky (dank) and fruity aroma of citrus and tropical fruit. Flavor to match, light body for a double. Light everything for that matter. Sweet and fruity, but lacking for a Drakes double ipa. Maybe not totally fresh?

Drakes Black Robusto Porter

Aroma:
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, chocolate, mocha, roasted malts and coffee.

Appearance:
Opaque black beer with a slight/medium brown/dark brown head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, chocolate and mocha; ends slightly bitter and dry with bread, roasted malts and coffee.

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. What a great beer and even more so for its abv. Starts rather sweet and ends with mellow, but still distinct, coffee. Simply love these flavours.

Drakes Jolly Rodger (2015 Barrel-Aged)
Stupendous gift from Marcus. Waxed bomber. Pours very dark brown with a transient dark tan head. Aroma of coffee and bourbon. Full bodied. Flavor is coffee, bourbon vanilla, some chocolate, and I think some rye spice. The flavors of coffee, chocolate and bourbon make it hard for me to pin down rye. Think it’s there tho. Smooth. No heat for me. It’s not entirely dry, but the coffee offsets that. Really good ale.

Drakes Mictlan
On tap at the Dealership. It pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma has plum and cherry candies with some hints of holiday spices. The flavor has some mint, plum, minced meat pie and a little roasted malt. There’s some distinct spices here, but not the usual culprits. Star anise is the strongest, but the spices are, overall, somewhat subdued compared to other beers that attempt this kind of thing. The mouth feel is full with no spice related astringency. Decent stuff, just not my thing.

Drakes One More Down the Hatch Dear Friends
On tap at the Dealership. It pours a clear light amber color with an off white head. The aroma is very estery with apple, grape, pear, plum and some toasted/caramel malt. The flavor has more toasted malt with hints of fennel, orange, pear and plum. Low, but supportive earthy bitterness. Nice smooth, but substantial mouth feel for the style. More toasted malt in the finish. Overall, dry but estery. Decent.

Drakes Old Man
On tap at the Dealership. It pours a clear pale golden color with an off white head. The aroma is lightly biscuity malt with faint hints of apple and pear esters. No hops. The flavor is the same. Lots of satisfying biscuit malt with hints of citrus. Pretty snappy on the palate with low to moderate citrus/earthy bitterness. There’s a hint of buttery diacetyl, but I guess it’s acceptable in this kind of beer. It’s has a full mouth feel for a small beer. Good.

Drakes Oaklander Weisse
On tap at the Dealership. It pours a lightly hazed yellow color with a white head. The aroma is flowery with some lemon and a little white grape. Soft on the nose. The flavor is lightly tart and fizzy with white grape and flowers. No bitterness. Some wheat malt in the background. Light bodied and pleasant, but a bit underwhelming. It actually could have had a little zippier tartness.
Earlier Rating: 7/4/2015 Total Score: 3.6
On draft at Caps & Taps. It pours a pale yellow color with a nice foamy white head. The aroma has lots of wheat bread and lemon water. Nice and subtle. The flavor is wheat heavy up front followed by some strong lemony tart notes. Strong sour finish with some bread that sadly degrades into popcorn, which throws this otherwise nice beer off just a tad. Good one though.

On tap at the Dealership. It pours a light clear amber color with a small off white head. The aroma has sweet circus peanuts candy with some dark fruity plum and fruit cake. The flavor is not quite as sweet and candy-like but still pretty fruity. Weirdly tropical with some plum, dried pineapple and fruit cake. Low bitterness. Good mouth feel and carbonation for the style. The alcohol is pretty well hidden. A pretty solid English style Winter Warmer.

Drakes Hopocalypse Blood Orange Imperial IPA (Red Label)
While I enjoyed the green label DIPA the most I like this one quite a lot with the juicy blood orange flavor and aromas accentuated by more citrus driven hops. Reddish orange in color with a fluffy white head. Again big on the blood orange character.

From bomber to tulip. After a few tastes, waited for this to warm. Aromas of raisin and molasses. Moderate prune. Clear mahogany with very small white head that leaves only a ring with slight dusting over the top. Taste is dark fruit, malt balls and a finish of sweet grain. Only slight alcohol warmth. Chewy mouthfeel. Pleasing once it warmed up and the nuanced flavors unwrapped.

Drakes Aroma Therapy
Bomber from La Riviera in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy gold with a large near-white head. Aroma of cooked pale fruits and citrus. Full bodied or nearly. Flavor is pale stone fruits in a jammy way, tropical/floral, and a mildly cooked/roasty caramel backbone. Pretty heavy stuff. It’s not entirely dry, and it’s bitter, but not harshly so. One heck of a good drink!

Szurokfekete főzet krémes, bézs színű habbal a tetején, porcukorral megszórt, mézzel édesített kávé aromáinak hadával a kitöltést követően. Simulékony, vajpuha aromákkal, amelyek jól rétegzettek, elegáns vonalakkal megrajzoltak, édeskésre pörkölt jegyekkel telepakoltak. Közepes teste kellemes kortyokat eredményez, valódi ivósör, melynek minden részlete megfelelően kidolgozott, nem hivalkodó, mégis intenzív, mély szerkezetű. Krémes karakterében brownie-szerű, kissé földes, magas kakaótartalmú étcsokoládés, prémium kávés elemek olvadnak egybe, bársonyos ital összetevőiként formálódnak, rendeződnek, mígnem egy kifogástalan porter képét idézik, amelyet csak az "imperial" jelleg vonatkozásában érhet némi kritika, ha a test súlyával kapcsolatban vizsgálódnánk, kissé erőltetett és meglehetősen szükségtelen módon.

Bottle in Seattle. Thick, sharp white lace with a heavy orange body with lots of floaties. Rich, strong aroma of resinous pine with a distilled pineapple note. Pretty balanced body, with plenty of carbonation, for its weight. A touch of astringent bitterness, but it’s actually quite nicely balanced in. Snappy finish: bitter, alcohol burn and flavor, some sweetness. Delicious.
