Grumbo	3.1 Jamaica Stout 300ml bottle, UK import, 8.0% abv. Poured black with a small beige head. Aroma was sweet, roasted malt, coffee, molasses, liquorice, light chocolate and ash. Medium plus sweetness, light roasted bitterness. Medium body, sticky texture. Wasn't bad. Friday, January 15, 2021
Jabah	3 Jamaica Stout Flavor grew on me a bit so raised it a couple points. Balance isn't the best for a foreign extra. A little too sweet, then a little too bitter, and doesn't blend together that well. Once past all of that I can enjoy the chocolate/caramel malts. Aroma is semi-skunky and soy-saucey. Appearance is dark black with mocha head...probably the best trait here. Rather go for a Lion, Dragon Stout, Guinness Foreign Extra, or some kind of domestic sweet stout in this style. superspak	3.9 Jamaica Stout 12 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours pitch black color with a small dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, brown sugar, toast, dark bread, raisin, plum, light tobacco, light char, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and light-moderate dark fruit notes; with good strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, brown sugar, toast, dark bread, raisin, plum, light char, and roasted earthiness. Fair amount of roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, brown sugar, toast, dark bread, raisin, plum, light char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of dark/roasted malt and light-moderate dark fruit flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Foreign stout style. All around good balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/roasted malt and light-moderate dark fruit flavors; and very smooth to sip on even with the low carbonation. A very enjoyable offering. Beer shows very subtle effects pf being past prime (mainly aroma); appropriate compensation given in my ratings. The aroma features mild dark roasted grains and toffee. Aroma: moderate apple, light raisin, whiskey and chocolate. Appearance: average-sized, rocky, light-brown initial head with good lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Dark-brown body. Taste: moderately sour apple and raspberry initial flavor and moderately sour raisin and roasty finish with long duration. Palate: medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. S - Chocolate, hazel nut coffee, sour dark fruit, sweet dark malts, T - Dark fruit, tangy and slightly acidic raspberries, dark chocolate, notes of powdered dairy, has a muted smoked citrus tang, iron/minerals, hazel-nut flavored coffee, hops provide a bitter bite on the finish. M - Moderate carbonation, medium bodied. A descent export here. Nothing simple about this beer. Hops come through nice without taking away the other flavors. mcnealc31	3.6 Jamaica Stout Completely black underneath a giant, frothy, khaki head. Smells pretty good, too, with lots of toffee and some bit alcohol notes. Mouthfeel is surprising light and slick, but there are a lot of flavors here to like. Toffee, rum, brown sugar, big alcohol bite, and at 7.6% ABV, that’s not surprising. VTHopHead	3 Jamaica Stout Bottle/12oz - Pours a very dark black/brown in color with a very small tan head that faded to almost nothing. Aroma is of coffee, chocolate and dark roasted malts... some bready yeast too. Flavor is slightly bitter with a hint of coffee, some nice chocolate and too darkly roasted malts... burnt tasting. CanIHave4Beers	3.1 Jamaica Stout Pours basically black with a very small head that fizzes out like soda. The aroma is molasses, maple syrup, and plenty of espresso. The flavor is banana up front with lots of roast and dark chocolate. Odd flavors of burnt sugar, burnt toast, burnt coffee, burnt everything are on display. This one starts very sweet but ends dry and bitter. The beer is a little booze and has an oddness I just can’t quite put my finger on. I love trying these Forigen Stouts, they’re always so funky/dirty/not tailored to the tastes of most beer loving folks. Even if they’re a little beyond just challenging, they’re always enjoyable. Onionkid	3.4 Jamaica Stout Bottle. Dark black when poured. Aroma is roasted malt and toffee. The taste is actually really solid, little watery with the toffee and roasted malt flavor. This is a very inconspicuous looking brew and didn’t expect much, but this is surprisingly good. Definitely recommend, and wow it hides the abv well! 7.6% alcohol. Friday, September 9, 2011

BigBeer45	3.4 Jamaica Stout The bottle I sampled had different body and neck labels than what was shown on RateBeer, this beer had a brown-black pour and made an initial one to two finger tan and brown colored head, even though this beer is opaque, I see a lot of bubbles streaming up the sides of the glass (appears to be generous carbonation in this beer), left some spots and small fingers of lacing on the sides of the glass, and there was a thin film and ring of dark brown sediment in the bottle, the aromas were roasted malt, chocolate and coffee with some dark fruit esters of prune and raisin, faint licorice-anise in the background, also, there was caramel, malt and dark fruit sweetness, the flavors consisted of roasted malt, dry chocolate and some coffee with malt and brown sugar sweetness, the finish had little bitterness (which may been a roasted malt bitterness), and a touch of alcohol warmth, very faint after the finish, the mouth feel was less than I expected, a beer with a nice aroma and flavor. drpimento	3.6 Jamaica Stout Mmm, not bad. Not quite a sweet stout and drinkable. I let it warm a tad before pouring and then it had a nice, thick, creamy, foamy, frothy, tan head that mostly faded fast and a little lace. Color is opaque dark brown except in the bottom of the glass where it’s narrow and there I can see it’s a clear garnet. Aroma isn’t too complex, just basically what I’d expect to find: roasty, malt, toffee, cocoa, caramel. Flavror’s more or less the same with a little sweetness balance by the roasty burnt and carbonic acids. Body is good, ditto carbonation.
