Alpha Elder Joe
Bottle pour into pint glass from Friar Tuck. Appearance is hazy golden yellow with trace white head, decent sparkle, no lacing. Aroma is coffee, caramel. Taste is coffee and caramel but also a sour element that doesnít fit. Palate is light bodied with thin texture, soft-to-flat carbonation, bitter coffee and sour finish. Overall, this started with promise, like Stoneís Master of Disguise, but an odd sour element and an unpleasant mouth feel are major detractors.

Bomber from Wine & Cheese. Pours hazy red/brown with a beige head. Aroma is lightly earthy/musty/woody/sour red berry. Med body. Flavor is a light version of the aroma. Itís a mellow, laid back sour/brown. I could drink it all day. Not by preference perhaps, but why not.

Alpha The Sagwa Imperial IPA
Bomber from Wine & Cheese. Pours hazy dirty gold with a white head. Strong, indeed pungent, aroma of hops with a hint of caramel. Aroma suggests pale fruits, graham flour and white berries. Med + body. Flavor is nigh dank hop - earthy, fruity, maybe citrus. Itís kind of a hop muddle, but it is hoppy and bitter, balanced a bit with some sweet maltiness. Maybe a tobacco note in time. Seems disconcertingly complex.

Alpha Imperial Smoked Black Ale
Sent to me by Strykzone. Poured dark brown with a beige head. Good lacing. Nose of chocolate malts and booze. Medium body. Flavor is roasted malts, with chocolate and vanilla. There is no smoke but wood and of course the whiskey is quite present and stay with you to the boozy finish I found this very nice.

Alpha Hunny Do Brew Quad
Bomber from Wine & Cheese. Pours a very light copper with a slight head. Aroma is nose arousing honey with some yeastiness. Med body, but not likely more. Flavor is honey, Belgian yeast, spice note, and maybe banana. All the flavors are rather light. The odd thing is my tongue is burning a bit - nothing else tho. Is that a heat affect? Itís rather smooth. But no strong individual flavors. Easy sipper. Suddenly, graham cracker? Hmm.

Bottled- Feb 2014. Pours a cloudy mahogany color with a foamy head that fades. Aroma of dark fruit, citrus and bit of caramel. Taste of tart cherries, some caramel sweetness and oak. Has a sharp tart nip that lingers into a dry finish. Medium body, quite tart, but still nicely balanced. Not one of my favorite styles but was much better than I expected.

Bomber. A nice soapy almost white head on top is over one finger and stays put. Thick lacing. The beer is amber and opaque. A nice beginning aroma of fruit and spices from the hops. That is also tasted. Some heat here. Wheat can be tasted as well as felt in the mouth. This is resinous and rich. A little spice that is almost rye. Malts are pale and are quite big adding a lot of sweetness and fermentables. This stays consistent

Bomber. I rolled the bottle that and some sediment was loosened. The beer is honey gold and hazy. Just a little foam. Big coffee aroma with a little caramel under that. Those are tasted but they along with some hop bitterness. This seemed to be in my wheelhouse but falls short. Too thin and flavors donít work together at all.

12 ounce bottle. Quite dark with a fizzy and noisy beige head. The aroma brings fruit and less smoke. The flavor is a confusing. It has spicy hops that also bring bitterness, chocolate syrup, dark fruit, and some heat. Whiskey is not really tasted and neither is smoke.

750ml bottle shared by Madvike. Deep red-burgundy unfiltered body. Thin, oily off-white head. Nice delicate mouthfeel. An interesting mash up between the brown malt and sour tones. I donít really enjoy the aroma. The wine barrel gives it some depth. Really grew on me, pretty solid US sour. Biting dry sour tones. Smooth cherry Oud Bruin/ Flanders Red feels.

Alpha Pope Mobale Brett Cream
Eww. Smells. Funky. Worse than mediocre. Corn gone bad. Tasted at my Whales and Whimps bottle share. Not a fan. Thx Carter. In looking at the label, seems like they focus more on shock for publicity. Table of six poured it out after each having a sip......Surely this was infected, and just a bad bottle.

On tap at alpha. Great Belgian/pine hop/apricot aroma. Appearance is a little light and cloudy with a pale white head. Tastes slightly Belgian with a dash of hops, apricot and a funky aftertaste. Decent palate. Overall ok, Belgian IPA is a hard style to pull off, and I have had better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Alpha Pope Mobale Brett Cream
Sampled at their tap room and brought a growler home. It poured a slightly hazy yellow colour with moderate white foam and Belgian lace. Grainy flavor, hints of bread, toast, caramel. Faint citrusy, grassy, and floral hoppy notes. Nice earthy fermentation notes from the Brett, ever-so-slight tartness, but not excessively funky or sour. Light body, moderate carbonation, noticeable alcoholic warmth. Compared to the original award-winning Alpha Seymour Brett Cream Ale upon which this is based: Alpha Pope Mobale is bigger and boozier, but less attenuated and less well-balanced overall, with less grain complexity and was MUCH less hoppy. Sometimes session-strength is better. Not as good on tap as it shouldíve been, and rumour has it many bottles were infected. Címon!

Alpha Parousia
Sampled at the brewery tap room. It poured a hazy light brown colour with short-lived off-white foam. Nice, round, bready maltiness with definite Dickel whiskey notes. Caramelly with hints of vanilla and toasted hardwood tannins, boozy. Sour, with some yogurty tang, very much like a Flanders Oud Bruin (except conditioned in a whiskey barrel instead of red wine barrel.) Light-medium body, moderate carbonation, pleasant alcoholic warmth. Complex and delicious.

Alpha Imperial Smoked Black Ale
Sampled at their tap room, thanks Derrick. It poured a mostly clear brown colour with sudsy beige foam, lasting with lace. Very harmonious blend of aromas and flavours: grainy, grassy, bready, toasty, woodsy, citrusy, just a little roasty, just a little smoky, just a little vanilla, with just the right amount of bourbon barrel booziness. Medium body, low-moderate carbonation, well-rounded mouthfeel with a little ash and mineral essence, well-concealed alcohol, complex aftertaste. Very tasty.

Alpha Four Horsemen Cuveť
Sampled at their tap room, it poured a hazy reddish brown with weak beige foam. Fruity and peppery. Sour, funky, but not in a really good way. Seemed kinda off. Lots of complexity I suppose but it didnít all come together for me. Light body, moderate carbonation, thin mouthfeel, strong alcohol.

Alpha Satanic Saison
Pours lightly hazy golden / orange with an off-white head. The aroma is a bit sour with stone fruit, light wine, some berries and light funk. It has a medium rich body with a light bite and mild sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with sharp berries, some sourness, underripe apricots, mild pepper and yogurt tang. The finish has heavier yogurt and lactic sourness. Pretty nice, but not sure if this is a sour ale or saison.
