Pike Space Needle Golden IPA
Bottle from Total Wines, Sterling VA. Deep gold in colour, with a decent, white, head. Plenty of grassy hops, tangerine and grapefruits, crisp balancing malts, before a dryish, hoppy finish. Good.

Can from Total Wine, Bellevue. Unclear golden-orange with a sheeting head and strong lace. Pale malt, dough, a little honey. Floral and grassy notes. Pretty bright and clean, mildly bitter. Nice honey sweetness. I like it.

Pike Third Story Series - Hazy IPA
Draft 12 oz pour at the new new Tankard and Tun. A dark-ish copper pour that had me wondering if the correct beer was poured. Not quite what I expect in the style, but I'll do my best not to judge. Hop heavy aroma, though metallic over citrus. Flavor is a sturdy caramel malt, extra sweet for my usual liking. Biting bitterness. A decent IPA, but I'd call it far from what could be considered a hazy IPA. Has the creaminess to help. I guess I'm just confused with this beer. Too sweet, and has some odd features to it, but overall it's not bad.

Pike Third Story Series - Hazy IPA
Tankard and Tun, Seattle. Heavy cream, off white head. Oddly dark orange brown, particularly for style. Hazy but plenty of light coming through as well. Quite a sweet sip with fairly old tasting - in era as well as freshness - hops. Dark caramel notes top to bottom, but is more harsh than rich. I like that they are trying something new. But this isn’t successful as a hazy ipa, at least in terms of the modern style. English influence on the darker, sweeter malts. I’m glad they are trying.

Clear golden pour with a quickly dissipating, frothy head. The smell is fruity and sweet. The taste is lightly bitter with a lemon and honey phenyolic taste. The finish is dry and boozy. Overall, a decent beer considering the local rarity of the style.

Bottle in Seattle. Another classic I'm finally getting around to rating. Frothy white head, darker richer gold body. Nose is brewing malts and a Belgian hop aroma. Doesn't quite sync. Body is lightly sticky sweet. Quite an American interpretation of the style. Seems like a Belgian fermented golden ale, a quite strong one. Hops are a bit green and raw. Not great.

From a can into a chalice. Pours semi cloudy gold apricot with small head and lace. Aroma of straw hops, grains, amber malt, honey. Medium carbonation and body. Flavors of amber malts, honey, straw hops, slight grains, minerals. Overall rich, flavorful, a tad cloyingly sweet.

22 oz bottle poured, shared by Matt. Thanks! Dark brown, bear black pour. Thick cream, lasting foam head. Flavor definitely beats out the aroma. Metallic coffee grains. Flavor is smoother. Milk chocolate. Coffee roast. Hints of vanilla. Smooth and soft sweet finish. Pretty good stout.

Pike Organic Double Oatmeal Stout
Bottle in Seattle. Thick off white head, dark brown black body. Classical appearance. Nose of chocolate and freshly roasted coffee beans, pretty nice. Bitter, chewy oatmeal body. Dark chocolate and roast. Really classical, but balanced big and tasty. Sweet, and lightly astringent edges. Dry, fairly bitter finish. Not as full of a body as I'd like, but I like this for the most part.

[email protected] I remember drinking this beer back in college when I first started my craft beer journey. Pours opaque black, medium creamy tan head, dispatching slowly with good lacing. Aroma of dark roasted malt, Baker's cocoa, molasses, hint of chicory, ash. Flavors is light sweet, medium plus bitter that lingers into the far finish. Medium body, soft mouthfeel. Pretty solid straight stout. Welcome change from the pastry variety (all though full disclosure I love those too).

Bottle in Seattle. Ring of soft offwhite foam on a darker Ruby amber body. Lightly peaty and fruit forward malt aroma. Medium body with dry red fruit skin and a hint of metallic and peaty malts. Boring but enjoyable enough. Soft mid palate with some malt bitterness by finish. Classical American example of style.

Pours a hazy golden yellow on tap with fluffy white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of mild Belgian spicy esters and a good amount of light fruit and malty sweetness. Taste follows, booze well hidden, sweet and fruity, not hoppy enough to be truly Belgian, but solid for an American version.

This was much better than expected. Pours a clear golden yellow on tap with bubbly white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of light fruity esters and a punch of grassy and floral hops. Taste had done bready grain up front but then totems directly to the hops, add a touch of earthy honey sweetness and it ends slightly dry. I'm impressed.

Thanks to Hamirubi! 650 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG17. Black, little head. Nose is herbal cacao, chocolate, overly roasted malt. Thick herbal cacao, chocolate, heavy roast, low burned malts,… Bitter cacao bodied. Too roasted for me & not as thick as you would hope, expected more from a beer that is top 50 in its style.
