Oud Beersel Oude Geuze
Aroma very noticable and complex: tart at first, then mostly sour apples. Taste very complex too: sour apples, followed by a distinctive and complex tartness, becominging softer towards the finish, some subtle bitterness, lingering. If I have to critisize: aftertaste maybe a bit too thin but all the subtle taste are still there to enjoy. Carbonation fine.

Served on tap. Clear straw-gold colour. Thin, fluffy, medium-lasting, white foam. No aroma. The high 9,5% Abv, although not disturbing, masks a light malty flavour and a low bitterness. Medium-low body, Medium carbonation. No doubt it is not my favourite tripel.

Head gone in seconds; hazy golden-chromate beer. Beautiful lemon-horseblanket nose. Flowery, leather, vinous. Delicate flowery, blossomy and faintly fruity flavour, with just a hint at horseblanket. Light, acidthinned body, obvious wheatslickness. Amongst the most delicate gueuzes ever sampled! Superb! Thanks, M & L V.! 9/4/10/4/18

(Bottle, 0.375 l - BB 14/02/2037, at Porgu, 20170722) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was small and white. Aroma had tartness, fruitiness, wood and malts. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were tartness, sourness, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody, tart and bitter. A nice gueuze. Needs more age.

This is the most ’crisp’ geuze I ever drank. It is sparkling and tastes very young and crisp. Taste is green apple: Granny Smith. A tad tart. Very nice.

Oud Beersel Bersalis Sourblend
On tap, Hoppy Loft. Light slightly hazy yellowy colour, white foam. Quite a modestly sour affair, more a basic blonde beer with a hint of tartness to it and a little bit of fruitiness. Light brief finish. Not unpleasant at all, but I’m not really sure what this beer is trying to do, don’t think the modest tartness adds anything to a blonde but it doesn’t have the complexity of a proper funky/tart/sour creation.

Bottle, Monk, Brussels. Deep golden colour with a thin white foam. Firm carbonation. Sweet and malty, rich with some heavy pear drop esters. Hint of spicy hop. Medium finish. At the heavier and boozier end of tripels, I’d have preferred it drier.

Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - 11.2 oz bottle. Hazy, light orange pour, kind of lifeless, not much of a head. Aroma is pretty much neutral, faint diluted lemonade. Flavor is not sour at all. Reminds me of diluted orange drink at a McDonald’s birthday party back in the day, some kid’s vitamins make an appearance. Plastic-like mouthfeel.. I really need to quit forking over $5.00 a bottle for beers like this.

Bottle at Hanging Bat shared with Keith and Stuu. Appearance - golden with a quickly disappearing head. Nose - funk and cider vinegar. Taste - more of the vinegar and savoury yeasty notes. There is some sweetness from the Chianti barrel, but just enough to notice. Palate - light to medium bodied. Long lean and tight texture. Dry lean finish. Overall - good but not as good as their regular gueze.

BOTTLE 37,5 CL. Hazy deep gold, white head. Green fruit seeds and stones, notes of white bread, distant fruit perfume and honey? Clean bright acidity, quite clean and soft on the finish. Feels almost totally dry, but there seems to be a bit of balancing sweetness there. Super light bitterness. Very nice.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours clear yellow - gold with a small white head. The aroma is funky, musty, oaky vanilla, barnyard, damp leaves, hay, gooseberry, white currant and bright zingy lemon. The taste is crisp, tart, zingy, lemony mouth - pucker, gooseberry, white currant, white grape, fairly sharp acidity, granny smith apple skin, oak, damp grass and must with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate - high carbonation. A pretty zingy geuze. Doesn’t quite have the depth of the top of the style, but rather enjoyable and unique nonetheless.

Drank 13-07-17 with Koen & Cat (thanks for sharing!). Nice one! You can actually distill the fruits from this and the sour is really there but not too sharp. Really nice how the beer can have such rich taste with such low ABV.

Czerwone z różową pianą. W aromacie wiśnia, lekki kwasek. Z czasem wychodzi dzikość i odrobina skóry.

Bottle at Beerdock Leek. Pours a slightly hazy golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma of apricot, green apple, some farmyard, slight straw, grape and subtle apple skins. Taste of apricot, green apple, some sourness, slight grape, a little wood, a hint of straw and subtle citrus. Medium bodied and a slick texture. A dry, sour, apricot, apply finish. A great geuze, sour but so well balanced with fruit and dry straw. Worth the money.

Quite impressive. Firstly, it has a classic Lambic qualities in aroma (stable-leather-wood mix). Its sour palate is tempered (probably because of wine barrel aging), so it’s a damn good all-rounder.

I should preface this by saying that I love almost any and all Sour beers but this was absolutely everything that a Lambic should be. I was nervous about the deep red color, fearing that it would be too sweet at the expense of the rest of the character, but it was absolutely on the money.

Bottle shared at home with massive thanks to kermis! Hazy golden with no head. Sour grain, grass, hay, grape most, horse blanket, some old sweaty cheese, light iron, elderflower. Moderate sweet, mild sour, light bitter. Medium body and average carbonation. Quite dry. Quite heavy funky at first but the experience becomes lighter, fruitier and more uplifting nearing the end of my glass.

Oud Beersel Green Walnut
(750ml 2016 bottle from kihoskh.dk) Pours an almost clear medium orange with a very active white head that piles high for a split second and than rapidly fades to nothing, without lace. Aroma of lime peels, green apples, straw, fairly heavy and leathery wood, cellar, slightly tart red berries, fairly subtle funky notes of stables, and a nutty, earthy and bitter note that’s reminiscent of being under a walnut tree when they’ve fallen to the ground. Flavour is surprisingly fruity and juicy, with notes of green apple, yellow plum, slightly unripe peach, some very lactic and zesty lemon-lime notes, hints of berries, grass, a bit of bitterness that’s not explicitly nutty, woody character is more subtle than the nose too. There’s a bit of yeastiness in the back end but low funk as well. Quite high effervescent carb, somewhat reminiscent of champagne. Not really what I was expecting, which was something more overtly nutty and less fruity.
