Lompoc Lompocker Hoppy Kolsch
Very light kolsch, easy and drinkable, crisp with the carbonation, just a hint of hop, caramel malts kind of strong for the style

Lompoc Hoppy Tiger Bitter Dragon
Tap sold by Yellow Ape at the Beer Zen Event. It has an opaque copper color with a light beige head and the aroma is of old hops (past it’s best , ie a bit stale/oxidized). The flavor is sweet caramel and pine with some woodsy fruit. Meh, ok I guess. Ijust wish the importer treated the beer better... I love the name and concept though.

Lompoc Derail Olde Ale
Bomber from Belmont Station. Pours hazy amber with a beige head. Aroma of malt, rye, wood. Med body. Flavor is very rye, wood, malt that seems a bit oxidized (which I like), and something suggesting heat. A whiskey aspect. The label says 5.6 and the web agrees, but ... Might be a hint of chocolate. I am wondering if the beer brewed up at 5.6, but the Angels’ Share and the barrels may have upped the ABV. It is quite alcohol per my mouth and throat. This was bottled in Feb 2016 and it’s good. Another indicator of ABV strength? As we go into the finish, it’s wood, heat, rye. Hop? I think so, but the whiskey aspect is strong enough to prevent me from figuring out hop. It’s not the best rye aged beer I’ve ever had, but it’s a pretty tasty one. Recommended for fun and flavor.

Draught @ Lompoc Hedge House. Pours a rich copper colour with a small beige head. Nose is caramel and bread crust. Flavour is sweet caramel, with a decent maltyness and moderate bitter finish. Interesting and at the moment the sweetness perks me up.

Lompoc Special Draft (LSD)
Draught @ Lompoc Hedge House. Pours a rich mahogany colour with a small beige head. Nose is bready malt with a hint of hops. Flavour is a very different mix of piney hops with a smokey character. While I’m not a fan of the hoppy bitterness I find the sweet smokey character manages to mask the harsh bitterness making for a semi middle ground if you will. The smokey character develops on the palate and lingers nicely. Mmmh.. salty meat products I desire now.

Amber, thick head. Slight haze. Caramelly nose, earthy hops. Sweet, caramelly. Not hoppy and not kölsch...maybe a touch of bitterness but I was expecting more like Gäffel Sonnen.

Lompoc Lompocker Hoppy Kolsch
On tap at PIB 2017, pours a clear copper golden with a small medium white head. Aroma brings out light cereal notes, not much in the hop department. Flavour is along the same lines, with biscuity malt and a hint of hops, but not much. Very dry and uninteresting. Meh.

Lompoc Derail Olde Ale
Bottle. Colour...golden amber with a thick white head. Nose...heavy rye with oaky notes and sweet spice. Palate...brusk, sharp and focused with a tremendous amount of rye flavour and what seems like incredibly hot, heady alcohol for a 5.6 ale. I can’t help but wonder if the ABV labeling is a misprint. The entire palate is hot and tightly wound and the spiciness of the rye predominates. The finish is very long and heady. It would be interesting to see how this is in a year.

Bottle from Brewfest. Hazy caramel color with tan head and lace. Toasted caramel peachy cereal grainy sweetness with herbal piney woody bready finish with assertive lingering toasted caramel and woody bitterness. Medium body with a thin slick edge. I didn’t know people still made IPAs like this. To all their own, I guess.

Lompoc Monster Mash Porter
I’m pretty sure this is a bottle imported in the 2015 Halloween season. A dark black with a thick beige head. It’s got a really good roasty doughy chocolate bun aroma. Medium bodied, it’s got a raspy carbonation and a rich roasty chocolate with nutty notes. A good fall brew with a Halloween name so a nice alternative to spicy pumpkin ales.

Lompoc / Fort George / Gigantic / Solera Don’s Double Down Bitter
Bottle:   Reddish caramel in color, deep, sediment settling on the bottom of the glass, thin head and little lacing.   Biscuity nose to start.   Biscuity up front, minor twang, a little touch of citrus.   Not too much body in this one.   Very biscuity, light sweetness, but could use a bit more body.   Very faint ashtray.   Could stand to be a touch sweeter, otherwise decent.   Fairly middle of the road.

Lompoc Dark Side Porter - Bourbon Barrel
Bottle:   Black pour, moderate to large foamy light beige head, fairly nice lacing.   Big bourbon nose.   Faint sweet airy roastiness.   Similar on the tongue, mainly bourbon.   The toasted malt aspect is light.   Lingering coconut and some vanilla.   Really light on the Porter.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Sweet bourbon, coconut, and vanilla on the finish.   Very soft toasted malts.   I expected it to be lactic, sour, and airy, but thankfully it was not.   However, it could stand to be more Porterish... or perhaps an Imperial Porter if its going to be aged this strongly.

Expected a bit more on the nose, but nice citrusy notes nonetheless. Hop forward mouthfeel with evident hops. Didn’t really notice the real grapefruit juice addition though. The pink grapefruit comes through on the aftertaste. Decent citrus IPA.

Lompoc Pamplemousse Citrus IPA
Bottle from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Bright nose of citrus zest, caramel, light grapefruit juice, and hop. Hazy amber/orange color, fluffy head which quickly diminishes into tiny cirrus clouds on the surface. Mild citrus, caramel, grapefruit juice and grapefruit rind. Medium body. Very fruity and citrusy IPA. Seems heavier and higher in alcohol than it really is. Must be the 70 IBUs.

Lompoc C-Note
Bottle from Mitsuya Liquors. Pours a deep copper with a finger of head. Loads of caramel and orange in the nose, but the malt really takes over as it warms. I get malt candy (gobstoppers) all over the nose. Almost like a malt shake. Some light cardboard and light funkiness in the background (slight brett issue I assume). Probably not in the best condition honestly. Malty finish. Meh.

Lompoc C-Note
This was poured into a becher pint glass. The appearance was a slight hazy burnt orange to off sort of brown color. Slim finger’s white foamy head starts and dissipates at a nice pace. Messy lace occurs as the head dissipates. The smell starts off with a sly citrus hoppiness. Subtle pine notes glide into a sweet malt base. Somewhat dry, with a sticky hoppiness coming in. The flavor takes in all of the previously mentioned flavors sliding together sweetly. Bitterness shows a sly "oomph" slyly and riding on into the finish (kinda sticky). On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. Fair sessionability to it. Sly carbonation. Overall, very nicely done AIPA, I could see myself coming back to this.

Lompoc Pamplemousse Citrus IPA
This was poured into an English pint glass. The appearance was a glossy burnt orange color with a slim finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipates to a thin cap of a head. Moderate trickling lacing. The smell takes a sweet lemon pulp and blends with a moderate burst of grapefruit pulp. Nice level of bitterness for the most part. Adequate pulpy sweetness. The flavor takes all of the previously mentioned aromas to round out in a bittersweet pulpy sort of way. Juiciness is somewhat there. Delicate malt underneath. Dry poignant grapefruity aftertaste and sly sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. Nice balanced harshness hits all around. Overall, really good AIPA that I would have again.
