Portland Brewing Summer S.M.A.S.H. Pale Ale
Fresh aromatics of spicy hops and bread. Lively on the palette. Aftertaste is reminiscent of a pilsner. Clean. Crisp like a lager. Hard to quantify this as a pale ale but tasty nonetheless. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

MacTarnahans Spine Tingler
Light golden color with a creamy looking white head. Decent lace. Slightly grainy aromas, along with some dough, resin, herbs and spiced pineapple. Sweet start, with some pale malts and then a burst of light fruit. A bit industrial at times (in a strong Euro lager way). Perhaps the alcohol is nipping at the senses. Stomach is warming up. Some decent flavors with bananas, cloves and tropical fruit, but there are some rough components woven in. strong resin and crazy glue come to mind. A touch unrefined for a my type of tripel. 3/12

Bottle on Alaska Airlines. Dark brown with small fluffy head. Rich, roasty, nutty aroma. Taste also is heavy on the roast grains, with some of the nuttiness in the back ground. Chocolate too. A pretty well rounded porter.

Portland Gin Barrel-Aged Spine Tingler
Sample at Denver Rare Beer Tasting VIII on 10/07/2016. Cloudy yellow-orange color with a medium white head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Partial rings of lace. Oak, gin and yeast aroma. Full-bodied with a botanical gin character and notes of yeast, oak and malt. The finish is woody with a gin barrel aftertaste. Above average overall.

Sweet grain, zesty yeast. Alcohol shows a little too much for an 8 1/2 beer, but not too shabby. Fruit and yeast finish.

MacTarnahans Amber Ale (Macs Ale)
On tap at Portland Brewing, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out dry bready malt and very light restrained hopping. Flavour is identical, very clean and easy-drinking, but uninspiring. Bready malt, a touch of caramel and light hop resins. Decently made.

MacTarnahans Noble Scot
On tap at Portland Brewing, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out toasted caramel and bready malt. Flavour is along the same lines, being more sweet in the carame department than anything, while still retaining a dry biscuity malt backbone. Pleasant enough but uninspiring as this style usually is.

Portland Brewing/ Double Mountain Subcontinental IPA
22 oz bottle , with cool cartoon label. Purchased from Lifesource in Salem OR. $5.99 Good looking ale here. Pours a nice slightly hazy peachy golden colour with a gorgeous thick and creamy off white head. Aromas of citrus like hopping , black pepper and spices. Nice. Taste is similar to the nose. Very balanced very spicy at the same time juicy, fruity hopping. Mouth feel is excellent they managed to get the carbonation to be. A soft small bubbled type with works fantastic with the spices . Great. This is a very good spiced IPA. Actually better than these two breweries have managed separately. Highly recommended. Get it while its here.

Bottle from Bi-Mart in Baker City. Pours out amber with thick fluffy head. Aroma of Belgian yeast and candy sugar. Works in aroma, but in taste and finish becomes a bit cloying. Sweet malt underlies the whole beer, making for a sugary experience.

Portland Brewing Raise the Roost
Just finished the last 12oz bottle of a six pack. I generally don’t prefer Belgian style. This beer has an interesting mildly spicy flavor. I’m not sure what I am tasting, maybe faint coriander with a similar aroma. It pours a great reddish amber which is clear and has a moderate one finger head with minimal lacing. This is a nice pleasant change for an occasional beer.

Bottle @ RBWG 2016. Fucken hell. Thanks for sharing, Bobby. Cloudy orange colored beer with some white foam. A great example of oxidation... A ton of cardboard and just a mess of sugar and old hops. Some sweet orange peel, nut shells, and leaves. Kind of papery and dusty, too. Maybe a little goopy and toasty. Scroll past this one, kids.

22 oz. bottle shared by t0rin0 at the RB Best Awards - thanks again, Bobby, for this bizarre, completely rotted garbage! Supposedly this was a no-no after it hit shelves, which is pretty funny. Pours a clear orange color with a small off-white head that quickly settles into a ring. Notes of cardboard, peanuts, brown sugar, dead leaves, and some toast. Light-bodied, with low carbonation and a thin, completely oxidized mouthfeel. It’s old as hell, but so is Arnold.
