It says IPA on the can, but it’s on here as an amber ale. it’s definitely more like a goldish color, so not sure with the style classification, but it’s a nice enough resiny thing on the nose. Finish is a bit off, plasticky maybe and overly bitter. Unpleasant, sadly.

Boundary Bay Citraweisse
355ml can from Elizabeth Station. Some fresh release (date is unreadable due to the printing machine mistake). Pours a murky dirty blonde with a white head. Aroma is citrusy notes, some sour notes at first and some dirty dusty notes at the end. Taste is slightly sour with citrusy notes. Not very enjoyable, unfortunately. 2nd beer of the night that went to the sink.

Boundary Bay Irish Red
Thanks Frank. This was poured into a mug, the appearance was a slightly clear amber color with a finger’s worth of eggshell white foamy head. Slight lace. The aroma had some dry roasted toffee malts with a light floral to herbal hop bitterness. Light earthiness. Some toast at the end. The flavor was somewhat sweet between the floral and herbal qualities. Sly little malty aftertaste and finish. The palate was just a tad under medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Some carbonation was felt, but not distracting. Overall, pretty good for an American brewer to come up with an "Irish red" fairly close to style. I’d have again.

Boundary Bay Old Bounder
On Tap at the Bellingham brewpub. Deep redish mahogany, thin fine tan head. Nice caramelized malt aroma, very little hop notes. Flavor is big time caramel and brown sugar, good ABV burn and a smooth not too heavy body. Barley bittered enough, tastes aged and mellow. Delicious.

Boundary Bay Ski to Sea ESB
On Tap at the Bellingham BP Slightly hazy copper/amber. Soapy coarse tan head and spotty lacing. Light toasted malts. Woody tannin like bitter bite. More like Rye than classic hop IBUs. Dont get much dry hop aroma or flavors, but nocely balanced anyway. A firm clean bitter bite.

Boundary Bay / Gruff Neighbourhood Watch
On tap at Gruff, pours a cloudy yellowish blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out lacto, stone fruits, and floral dry hopping. Flavour is rather acidic, with yogurty lacto notes, tart stone fruits and floral dry hopping. Unusual and a bit harsh on the acidity, but it works well enough.

Boundary Bay Cedar Dust
On tap at The Pine Box in Seattle with blonderedhead. Pint glass. Copper and light amber in color. Really attractive lacing...kind of an off white. Nose is predominantly pine with a little toasted malt. Taste has a healthy dose of bitterness with a pine and hop influenced mouthfeel and overall flavor profile. Almost feels like a rye IPA. Slight tendency towards cloying. Finish leaves a little to be desired. Overall good first beer of a Pacific Northwest week/weekend.

Boundary Bay Dry Irish Stout
Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown almost black color with an off white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Sly stringy lace. The aroma had some sweet to roasty graininess up front. Then some dark chocolate and a touch of coffee bean. The flavor took all of the prior mentioned aromas to blend and then add in a touch of earth and peat. Sly woody to peat to roasty aftertaste. Quick dry crisp earthy/peat/roasty sort of finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a great smooth feel rolling all about over my tongue. Good carbonation. For the ABV, though low, it feels like right the brewer says it’s at. Overall, nicely done Irish dry stout, somewhat crushable.

Boundary Bay ESB (Best Bitter)
Poured into a mug, the appearance was a muddy copper color with a nice lasting finger’s worth of white foamy head. Slow dissipation and leaves some messy lace. The aroma had a nice blend of earthy and grassy hop bitterness, light toast and some dry toffee malts. The flavor had a dry crisp malty sweetness adding in a touch of cracker/white bread underneath. Dry malty and earthy aftertaste. Crisp malty dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a good sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation. ABV felt appropriate. Overall, good ESB that I could come back to if I had it in my distro.

Boundary Bay Imperial Oatmeal Stout
Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a dark brown almost brown color with a nice looking foamy creamy colored head. Nice foamy stringy lace. The aroma had some sweet milk chocolate, gentle roast and some toast. The flavor took all of those previously mentioned aromas to blend very nice. Quick dry ruggedly sweet aftertaste roaming into the finish in a semi-creamy sort of way. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice sipping quality about it. Low carbonation assisting a nice creamy smooth feel along my tongue. ABV felt spot on. Overall, nicely done imperial stout, but I didn’t get a whole lot of oatmeal, if any. Still, I’d have this again.

Boundary Bay Cabin Fever
Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a dark red/brown color with a nice finger’s worth of a level white foamy head. Quick dissipation. Moderate lace. The aroma had a rich nutty maltiness with some vanilla, raisins, caramel and bread. Slightly spicy hops for balance. The flavor leans sweet nutty initially and then opens up for more of a balance with the hops. Still, they’re not too strong and ends up creating a nice lingering bready/malty aftertaste with the spicy hops. Quick balanced finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fair sipping quality about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt at the projected strength and seemed good. Overall, nicely done English strong ale. If I could I would have this again.

Boundary Bay Amber
Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a mostly clear bronzed light amber color with a white foamy rocky head. Lots of foamy messy lace. The aroma starts off with sweet and roasty nuts. Crisp bitter grassy hops. The flavor blends for the most part between sweet and roasty. Bitterness carries underneath for balancing purposes. Lingering nutty malt aftertaste. Quick dry roasty nutty finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt just right. Overall, nicely done amber ale worthy of coming back to.

On tap. Pours a clear golden light amber with a one finger off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is pine dominant. Flavor is similar to the standard boundary bay IPA but this one definitely has more bitterness and less sweetness. Aftertaste has a bit of green olive juice to it, but overall is pretty good.

Boundary Bay Bootlegger Barrel Series: Imperial Oatmeal Stout - Oak Whiskey
Draught at the brewery. I really enjoy their standard imperial oatmeal stout and was very much looking forward to this but the beer is almost entierly masked by the whisky barrel charesteristics. Heavy oak and whisky notes with minimal roasted malt underneath. Too much barrel and not enough beer for me.

Boundary Bay Harvest Rye
Draft imperial pint at Sport Restaurant, celebrating the Bengals 10th TD of the year. Thought this number would be higher by now, but oh well. Darker copper pour with an uneven foam head. Sweet malt solitary aroma. Flavor is rich malt, the, with the combination being a touch vegetal. Hops are there, but buried. Interesting, but a bit off putting.

Boundary Bay Harvest Rye
Mahogany amber body with a perfect, off-white cream head. Aroma starts of with a nice caramel wheatyness, but some vegetal notes impinge. The body is dominated by vegetal, there are some rye notes and creamy corn cereal, but this one was just so out of whack it was a drain pour for me.

Whatcom Wheat
Can:   Orange hued golden, thin to moderate white foamy head, spotty lacing, moderate carbonation.   Fruity wheaty nose.   Wheaty start, a bit bright, sweeter than expected, clean finish, a little mealiness but thankfully not much.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   A littel prickly on the tongue.   Not heavy.   Fairly crisp.   Lingeringn wheatiness, a bit grassy, and sweeter than most.   Not as bright or crisp as other examples, but its flavorful and doesn’t have really anything off about it.   Decent quaffer.

Cask at Brouwer’s Cafe. Pours a clear copper color with a very frothy, white head. Thick, hoppy aroma. Typical cast style. But chewy. Strong citrus/hop balance with a subtle dry finish. Really good finish. Not the biggest cask style IPA fan, but this was really good.

Boundary Bay Amber
Draft pour pint at Tipsy Cow. Continuing with the cooler day amber trend that I thought of about 20 minutes ago. Being in the mood for an amber or brown is rare for me, so I’m going to take advantage of the opportunity. Mostly clear bronze pour with a lasting rocky head. Nutty malt aroma. Has a noticeable bitterness up front with a bold nutty malt constant. Heavier hop bitterness makes this interesting. Nutty malt aroma makes this inviting. Non-sweet finish makes this different. Overall an enjoyable beer here.
