Boundary Bay Harvest Rye
Draft imperial pint at Sport Restaurant, celebrating the Bengals 10th TD of the year. Thought this number would be higher by now, but oh well. Darker copper pour with an uneven foam head. Sweet malt solitary aroma. Flavor is rich malt, the, with the combination being a touch vegetal. Hops are there, but buried. Interesting, but a bit off putting.

Boundary Bay Harvest Rye
Mahogany amber body with a perfect, off-white cream head. Aroma starts of with a nice caramel wheatyness, but some vegetal notes impinge. The body is dominated by vegetal, there are some rye notes and creamy corn cereal, but this one was just so out of whack it was a drain pour for me.

Whatcom Wheat
Can:   Orange hued golden, thin to moderate white foamy head, spotty lacing, moderate carbonation.   Fruity wheaty nose.   Wheaty start, a bit bright, sweeter than expected, clean finish, a little mealiness but thankfully not much.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   A littel prickly on the tongue.   Not heavy.   Fairly crisp.   Lingeringn wheatiness, a bit grassy, and sweeter than most.   Not as bright or crisp as other examples, but its flavorful and doesnít have really anything off about it.   Decent quaffer.

Boundary Bay Traverse Red IPA
Can:   Nice lacing right off the bat.   Darker amber, moerate off-white head.   Soft piney and citrus peel nose.   Soft soily and earthy start, backside is pine and citrus bits.   Pretty raw but bright and flavorful.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Bitterness lingers well after the finish, citrus peel, pine, with some soft soily earthiness.   Pretty solid example!

Boundary Bay Galbraith Series #1 - Cedar Dust IPA
Cask at Brouwerís Cafe. Pours a clear copper color with a very frothy, white head. Thick, hoppy aroma. Typical cast style. But chewy. Strong citrus/hop balance with a subtle dry finish. Really good finish. Not the biggest cask style IPA fan, but this was really good.

Boundary Bay Amber
Draft pour pint at Tipsy Cow. Continuing with the cooler day amber trend that I thought of about 20 minutes ago. Being in the mood for an amber or brown is rare for me, so Iím going to take advantage of the opportunity. Mostly clear bronze pour with a lasting rocky head. Nutty malt aroma. Has a noticeable bitterness up front with a bold nutty malt constant. Heavier hop bitterness makes this interesting. Nutty malt aroma makes this inviting. Non-sweet finish makes this different. Overall an enjoyable beer here.

Boundary Bay Imperial Oatmeal Stout
Keg at Beer Zen backyard party. In my red cup its looks jet black. Strong milk chocolate and oat aroma, rich malt, hint of booze. The flavour surprises with rich dark cherry and plum I didnít really get in the aroma. Very nice. Some lingering alcohol warmth, reasonably smooth and creamy.

On Tap at the Bellingham BP Cloudy deep golden light tan with a fluffy full off white head. Soft earthy Belgian yeast aroma, lots of banana and a little of the spice classic of the style. Boundary Bay Inside Passage Ale (IPA)
Pours a clear copper with a nice thick white head. Smells of tomato soup, berries, and rust. Tastes really well balanced, excellent malt flavor with an ideal hop balance. There isnít really anything that stands out about the flavor which is what makes this taste so amazing; it tastes awesome! Mild bitterness complements the finish perfectly. Great aftertaste. Impressive where it counts the most.

1.1
Boundary Bay Ginger Peach Blonde Ale
On tap at April Brews Day, pours a clear golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out Snapple-like peaches with a little ginger. Flavour is identical, with lots of artificial peaches, no ginger to be detected. One of Boundary Bayís shittiest beers. Terrible.

3.3
Boundary Bay Imperial Oatmeal Stout - Jack Danielís Barrel
On tap at April Brews Day, pours black with almost no head. Aroma brings out bourbon barrels upfront, not really reminiscent of cheap JD shit. Flavour is more apparent on the cheap whiskey, with bourbon barrels dominating along with some feint vanilla and prominent alcohol. Hot and almost spicy on the finish, with a close to flat mouthfeel. Solid for what it is, despite the imperfections.

Boundary Bay Bootlegger Barrel Series: Scotch-style Ale - Oak Whiskey
Tasting at Mattís
Dark amber color to brown, small frothy head. Mild aroma of vanilla, oak, toffee. Some caramel flavor, a bit thin, lack of depth, with some vegetables notes.
Not the greatest base beer, not a necessary barrel aging; average.

Boundary Bay Bootlegger Barrel Series: Imperial Oatmeal Stout - Oak Whiskey
Tasting at Mattís
Dark brown color, small frothy head. Mild aroma, but nice mix: dark malts, tobacco, oak. Moderate body strength, moderate sweetness; chocolate drink flavor, some oatmeal, a bit boozy, with bourbon touch.
Uncomplex, a bit over the top, but not bad.

Boundary Bay Bootlegger Barrel Series: Imperial Oatmeal Stout - Oak Bourbon
Tasting at Mattís; corked
Dark brown color, small to no head. Along with the dark caramel, there is some glue in the aroma. Lean body, a bit boozy which explains why the sweetness level is moderate; dark caramel flavor, with hints of toffee, molasses, and some oak; boozy final.
A bit over the top, not too exciting, but still quite good.

Boundary Bay Bootlegger Barrel Series: Cabin Fever - Oak Whiskey
Tasting at Mattís
Dark amber color, almost brown, small frothy head. The aroma is rather nice, bourbon/oak, and a bit creamy; fresh wood. Round mouthfeel; the flavor is quite simple, caramel and toffee, mildly sweet, the hint of coffee is a downturn, the final is a bit woody.
Messy, drinkable but I wouldnít get back to this again.

Boundary Bay Bootlegger Barrel Series: Scotch-style Ale - Oak Whiskey
Bottle. Hazy amber-brown, those whisky barrels come through pretty strong, and the malts are a bit clunky. So thereís some vague malts and some random barrel.

Boundary Bay Bootlegger Barrel Series: Imperial Oatmeal Stout - Oak Bourbon
750mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out nice bourbon barrel notes upfront, with some booze and wood in there -- not much else. Flavour is similar, with loads of bourbon barrels upfront, with notes of vanilla and oats. This is about on par with the whiskey version. Complex and wonderfully integrated barrel aging. Excellent.

Boundary Bay Bootlegger Barrel Series: Imperial Oatmeal Stout - Oak Whiskey
22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is complex, with notes of whiskey barrels, oats, and dry cocoa notes. Flavour is along the same lines, with notes of whiskey barrels upfront, followed by oats and cocoa. Complex and with a pretty dry body. Really well-balanced and harmonious. Excellent.

Boundary Bay Bootlegger Barrel Series: Scotch-style Ale - Oak Whiskey
22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark orangey brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out bready malts, caramel and whiskey barrels upfront. Flavour is not overly barrel heavy, with notes of bready malts, caramel and a touch of whiskey. Not overly complex, but itís reasonably interesting. Solid stuff, just not terribly exciting.

Boundary Bay Bootlegger Barrel Series: Cabin Fever - Oak Whiskey
22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a slight reddish tinge and a small beige head. Aroma is super boozy, with loads of boozy whiskey upfront -- not really much else other than the barrels. Flavour is more diverse than that, with notes of whiskey barrels, alcohol, bready malt and some dry caramel. Based on the nose, I thought itíd be a booze bomb, but this is quite complex, with many layers. Very nice stuff.

Boundary Bay Irish Red
Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours clear, dark and ruddy with a slight beige head. Aroma is treacle in a moderate way with something that could be floral hop. Med body or so. Flavor is a bit different - making me think of herbal hop. It is fairly dry, tho it seems mostly about the malt. Better than a lot of "Irish reds".
