Boundary Bay Amber
This beer pours a rich red, amber color with a small head and a good malt taste with some sweetness. This is one of my favorite Red/Amber ales PERIOD. The hops are minimal, so the malt taste shines through.

This beer pours a dark reddish brown in color with a small head and a mild aroma of malts and sweetness. It has minimal hops which helps with the overall body of the beer.

Slight haze, fairly thick head. Nice banana aroma, bit yeasty so definitely not to style as a kristallweizen. Good body, definitely yeast rounding out the flavours. Banana again, the fermentation is quite good here. Not kristall but it is a good weizen.

Boundary Bay Bine to Bay Fresh Hop (2023)
Pale, slight haze, thin head. Sweetish malt. Floral, honeyish hop. Yeah it does come across a bit sticky, and underhopped across the board.

On tap at Chuck’s - Seward Park, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of banana and clove, with a whispy wheaty base. Flavour is more citrusy and wheaty, with clove to follow and more subdued estery banana notes. Dry and wheaty. Good for the style.

Boundary Bay Bine to Bay Fresh Hop (2023)
On tap at Chuck’s CD, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out weedy hops, doughy malt, and a touch of pine. Flavour is vibrant, with piney hops, some weedy notes, and doughy malt. Fresh and vibrant, very clean, not bitter. Very good fresh hop.

Boundary Bay / North Fork Sticky Trees
To anyone reading this review, this was day 3 of GABF 2023 and Matt K. was dragging me around and not letting me take notes. Luckily every beer I tried in this excursion was delightful, clean, well made, and worth as best of a rating as I can remember it’s worth.

Boundary Bay Ahhh
Draft pour pint at Trails End, Snohomish. Clean pale golden pour, thin patchy head. Lots of tropical hop character. Easy drinking imperial for sure. A little grassy as well, and a slightly gritty hop bitter finish. Classic, tasty west coast imperial here.

Can from Community Food CoOp Bellingham, WA; 02/08/23, 2.5 months old
Cloudy blond colour; compact head, but reduces quickly to just a ring. Mild aroma of stone fruits, jam. Good body, smooth, light residual sweetness, some flour/chalk, cream of oats; the hopping is modest, as it doesn't provide much fruit; the alcohol is a bit too evident.
It's ok.

Boundary Bay Million Trees IPA
Draft pour pint enjoyed at Elliott Bay Pizza, Mill Creem. Bright amd shiny golden pour with a sticky head and lacing. Sharp first sip, piney hop forward classic IPA. Grapefruit peel like bitterness to pair. Has a touch of strength indication. Has a bite, and its appropriate here. Ultimately what I look for within the style. Bold bitter IPA. Excellent.

I'm drinking the 12 oz version at 9.0% with 32 IBU and 20 SRM and it's a fine brew, more malty than bitter and despite the Sept. 2022 date, is still quite tasty.

Boundary Bay Connie's Coolaide
Draft 13 oz pour at Route 2, Monroe. A mostly clean and bright golden pour. Expected a more dense brew for one advertised with the word smoothie but I'm for it. Flavors of passion fruit and citrus. Some soft sour citrus lingering late. Unique and interesting.

Boundary Bay Rye Lager
Deep bright gold. Med head. Rye on the nose and even more rye on the palate. Lots of caramelly malt sweetness, arguably a lot less bitterness than the 35 ibu would indicate. Ok but defintely too sweet for my taste.

Golden-amber, sticky gluey sweet, some plasticy phenols and everything. So for me this is too sticky and that ends up obscuring the hops.

Opaque. Soft body, oaty maybe, light tropical fruit but a bit vague. So it’s decent but you spend too much time thinking about the upside they left on the table.

Boundary Bay / Burke Gilman Ale of 2 Kings
12 oz can. Rich clear amber orange pour with a strikingly yellow head. Pretty classic old-school PacNW vibes, simcoe backgrounded against the c-hops, malts down compared to even the CA DIPAs. I guess the bottom line is that well this is really well done, it's just not my thing. Give me two 4.4% lagers or English ales any day. No disrespect to BGBC but yeah, that's sort of the story.

Mahogany color, ok, beige head. The nose is green hoppiness with some candi malt notes. On the palate, this one drinks green and tannic with some candi malt notes. This one seems a bit too young and would probably benefit from another year or two to age.

Draft pour pint, enjoyed at Hop and Hound. Dark and dense, near black appearance. Rocky foam head. Big cocoa and roast on the first sip. Toasty malt with a subtle pine background. Mild malt forward nose. Dense body, almost creamy. Bold flavors dominate over any rich character. Plenty of hop bitter that lingers late. Overall a smooth and flavorful CDA. Love the style and don't come across it nearly enough.

Boundary Bay Citraweisse
12 oz can poured. Glowing golden orange appearance, with a quick fading foam head. A nice, juicy, and refreshing berliner here, with a mild juicy citrus fruit sour taste that lingers. Cool first sip. Lemon, orange, soft grass, soft wheat aroma. Just a touch of tart, making this likely a good introduction beer for those on the fence about sour beer. Late palate shows off the balance of malts, hops, and citrus. Really enjoyable light brew here.

Bronze-amber body with a frothy, off-white head. Nice leafy PNW hop nose coupled with some tropical fruit flares. The body imparts a similar mix of PNW hops and tropical fruit notes. After aeration, some pleasant, musky, co-humulone notes round it out.

Boundary Bay Dark Darkness
Got in a BIF from beertunes. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 9/5/2019. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, raisin, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, wood, herbal, grass, peppercorn, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. A bit too fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with big strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, raisin, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, wood, herbal, grass, peppercorn, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery, roast, charred bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark bread/crust, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, wood, herbal, grass, peppercorn, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying/acris/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/resinous/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.3%. Overall this is a very nice American porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/charred/drying finish; not aggressively bitter/charred. Great well rounded rich malt complexity, with nice earthy hops presence/balance, and restrained fruity yeast. Light residual sweetness with lingering hop/char bitter dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made spot on style example.
