De Cam Oude Faro
(375ml 2009-label bottle from Mikkeller Webshop) Pours a clear copper colour with a small smattering of whitish bubbles, no lace. Aroma of caramel apples, brown sugar, wood, tart citrusy underpinnings, moderately high funk, rather sweet overall. Flavour is pretty sweet, even for style, quite a lot of brown sugar, sweet tea, cola-like, red baking apple, sweet-sour candied citrus, wood, earthy funk. Finish and aftertaste remain pretty sweet, only light drying from the wood. Medium bodied with quite soft sparkling carb. Faro is weird, I feel, and this is no different. Feels kind of heavy on the brown sugar, but it’s nice enough for lambic soda anyway.

The worst beer of the tasting and maybe one of the worst beers I have tried in 10+ years of drinking craft beer. Don’t remember the look in the glass but the bottle had separation of some murky dreg/floater soup on the bottom with some of the rotten beer on top. Smell and flavor of fresh green pepper, rotten veggies, tomato paste, acid, bile, and heavy dumpster snack. Will haunt me for a long time. I feel I have a duty to warn others how AWFUL this one was. If you like this beer, You are a Moron

750mL bottled 2017, drunk 6/10/17.
Pours quite a hazy, earthen/clay-red with golde/maize hues and tons of chunky sediment on the bottom, just like the Nectarine. Small, pinkish-beige head shows moderately-low retention.
Placeholder review. Not intended to be used to gauge the beer as this thing was in the middle of a massive bottle refermentation and is obviously still too young. Obviously I COULD rate it given that the brewery has released it and this is what we got, but I know this is a good beer and can’t wait to revisit it in a year or so. Anyways, I’d definitely hold your bottles for at least another 6 months as this thing was chalk full of all sorts of mid-fermentation biproducts. Beans, veggies, tons of sulfur, light butter. You name it. Sourness had a slight acetic tinge to it though a lot of that may have been the very dry, bright, sharply acidic fruit character. Carbonation was a bit loose and the beer was horribly messy and quite undrinkably bad, currently. Score would actually be well-under 2.0 but I’m going to leave it around average for now as I fully expect the beer to be great after the yeast finishes working.

Minerally chalky aroma, mint, maybe nettle. Dry stale yesterday’s smoke too. Some gherkin juice. Terrible. Both our glasses have sinkies - no, thank you. Darkish red. Harshly acidi palate, (and the stale cigarettes assert themselves again especially as one breathes out post-swallow. -anna). All the horrors of the aroma, but this is even worse, it’s packed with sour vegetables. Almost saurkrauty. Terrible.

Lovely framboise aroma - raspberry, skins, and a lambicky sourness. Taste matches exactly, raspberry kept very balanced, some nice wheaty lambic there too. Very tart, sends a shiver down my spine as I swallow, just as I like a fruit lambic. Finish again balanced - berryish, but again that wheaty lambic stays. Ends with the skins. (Clear pour is better. -anna.)

750ml bottle - thanks martjoobolut! (6:3:6:3:12=3.0)
Pale, misty, no head worth mentioning, but that’s forgiveable in a belgian sour. Sour cream with some drops of orange essence. Taste is basically of a liquidised pastry. Floury, curdy, some citric acid bite. Light palate, a touch flat were it not for a very sharp tingle in the finish. In fact, the finish is lemony citrus. Not tasting the nectarine /per se/, but I did burp it. Very disappointing de cam beer, lacking sophistication.
Rerate: 750ml bottle - same one, 5 days later (6:3:6:3:13=3.1)
Slightly fuller sweetness, but tartness still very sharp and bitey, plenty of lemon juice. Still good, no amount of oxygen in the bottle was going to significantly change this over 5 days. Milkier, dare I say softer, but of course it was always curdy. Kinda like it, but again, still lacking sophistication.
