At Open Baladin Torino. Pours lightly hazy dark gold with a medium, frothy white head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is light buttery diacetyl with moderate lactic grapes and supporting biscuit malt. Flavor is paper oxidation, buttery diacetyl, cracker and biscuit malt with lactic grapes and a dry finish. Medium-light body and medium carbonation.

Bottle. Brown color. Aroma of malt, butter and fruity tart. Strenge taste of buttery caramel, red fruit, mild tart and malt. Seems infected or messed up, strange.

Batch #1, 3269, 2013. Huge head, funky barrel aged aroma. Reddish orange with lots of sparkle, rocky big bubbles. Cloves very prominent in the aroma and taste, medicinal and woody, smooth palate, a bit of an intense flavour. A premium tasting sour ale.

2014 - Batch #4 Bottle 666!!! Aroma - wheat, ripe must, a potent lactobacillus yeast, funk, and a quality like white grape. Appearance - the body is hazed goldenrod, with occasional nucleation. The head is white and 1" and fades into a thin layer of foam. Some lacing - frothed and full. Final bottle swirl-in of bottom yeast adds in really darkens the color, but also creates dark clouds and folds of color. Beer is fully clouded and dark goldenrod. Taste - has a slightly sharp focused must. Their is a slight wood, slight funk, mineral nature, and some wheat. Lacto yeast that has reached full half-life. There is also a slight mercurochrome nature. Swirl-in beefs up all previous flavors. Palate - is on the light side of medium, the texture is slightly vinous, the carbonation is average, the finish is woody, funked, and slightly antiseptic.

ASPETTO: marrone mogano scuro, abbastanza limpido, schiuma beige, abbondante, fine e persistente. AROMA: acetoso, aceto balsamico, frutti rossi, legnoso e, stranamente, intonaco!

Saveurs off en bouche.

Thank you BDomua! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ ZZT 2016-1. Bottled 16SEP2014. Dark orange, little white head. Nose is weird plastic, almost bit peated, weirdly salty, messy, funk. Taste is sour, faint peat, almost smoked, sour plastic, vaguely salty, funk, citrus peel, grapefruit,… Sour, malt, faintly peated almost. I have been hoping to try one of these for a long time, this one is bit of a disappointing. Strange flavours that I didn’t really get into. Wild alright but a bit too wild & weird for me personally.

750 mL bottle, much thanks to Alberto for the share! Love the Italian sours that I have had the pleasure of coming across. Cloudy orange pour with a thick, lasting foam head. Sour aroma with some peach and orange. Flavor is sour fruit, but a bit dry and dusty. Lingering tart bite. Solid sour. Never had a sour red/brown this light in color, and in this mild of flavor. Overall I enjoyed this a ton.

750mL capped bottle from Alberto by way of luttonm. It’s definitely a heady beer, sooooo much head but not a gusher. So, apparently this is a sour barley wine. This is definitely a sour barleywine, love the sourness and the base barleywine seems fun. The combo is a bit interesting. Sweet, wet malts and acidic sourness. I like the beer but the parts are worse than the whole. Q

750ml bottle. Cloudy chestnut colour with average to huge, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, off-white head. Concentrated fruity aroma, gooseberry jam, some rhubarb, white grapes, disguised, minimally chocolatey, malty background with a touch of coffee. Taste is chocolately dark malty, notes of coffee, slightly vinous, fruity overtones with notes of gooseberry, white grapes, minimally tart, slightly bitter finish. A bit unbalanced and inhomogeneous, nevertheless a nice, though not fully working combination of flavours.
