Top!

Bottle. Orangy coloured beer with a strong white head. The aroma is well hopped, and the flavour is hopped and bitter with a decent length of finish. Overall a nice American pale ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bear Republic Barrel Aged Demolition Derby
After quite a few delicious Bear Republic beers in a row, this was a bit of a disappointment. The flavor is probably the hoppiest I’ve had in Old Ale. But it’s also kind of nutty, like Brazil nuts, which I don’t like at all. Eh.

Bear Republic Grand-Am
Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Hazy orange amber colour lasting cream coloured head. Pine resin hop aroma. Malts are ok solid enough not too sweet or over the top. Good orangey hops on the finish. I thought a rather good hoppy fruity American Pale Ale. Some bitterness. Tangerine flavours. A little perfume hop. Good.

Bear Republic Big Bear Black Stout
Bottle from Hopt. Aroma is roasted malt, cocoa, dark chocolate, fudge brownie, caramel, with a slight touch of liquorice. Flavour is medium sweet and mildly bitter. Body is medium to full with a fairly creamy feel and texture .Not the world’s biggest Imperial Stout, but just so damn smooth and drinkable.

Bear Republic Rebellion IPA (Hallertau Blanc)
Drucken på fat på Bishop Gustav, Malmö. Söt doft med solvarma jordgubbar, rött smågodis, persika, nektar och söt citrus. Smaken liknar doften med söta smaker utan att bli för sött. Bra bett i beskan. Annorlunda IPA men riktigt trevlig.

This is a really delicious brown ale, one of my favorites of the style. Not nutty at all, this has a lot of molasses. Sticky, yet still not too sweet. Excellent beer.

That is seriously tart. The sourness is in every sip of this beer, with an even more intense finsih. This might be the most intense sour beer I’ve had from start to finish, yet it keeps me sipping.

One tap @Rattle N Hum. Yupp, quite dunkel and deep this. Dark cloudy charcoal colored with a hefty lacing grey head. It smells just like sesame oil. A by all means I really love the Asian smell, but in a dunkel weisse? Super strange. The sesame oily is overwhelming everything elsewhere and I get nothing but it. The taste however is much more like a relatively normal dunkel weisse. Yeasty banana, it’s nice and dark malty. About average on the carbonation and a good oily texture. Soft chocolate wrapper and a little bit of bitter cocoa in the finish. Ripe fruits and dry licorice pastilles. Strange but I kinda like it more and more down the glass. 17.06.2015

Bear Republic Café Racer 15
On tap at Muddy Waters with Johnston crew. Chalice/tulip style pour. Hazy and cloudy deep orange with a golden tinge. Solid lacing and a quarter finger white head. Aroma is heavy citrus with some pine resin characteristics as well. Taste is very bright and fresh with plenty of elements of citrus (grapefruit) and a dank quality towards the end and at the finish. Beautiful mouthfeel with a slight oily/resiny lean. This is how a double IPA should be made. Highly recommended.

12 oz. bottle poured into pint glass. Can't believe I've never rated this one. Beautiful orange amber color. Aroma of pine, citrus, earthiness. Taste is super smooth with the malt playing second fiddle to the hops. A true classic indeed. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bear Republic Churchill’s X (Ten)
On tap at Churchill’s Pub and Grille, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Nose is quite dank on the hops, with some pot-like notes in there and biscuity malt. Flavour is similar, with dank hops, some pine and a pleasantly dry and astringent finish. Nicely constructed, with plenty of depth and punch. Lovely.

Bear Republic Big Bear Black Stout

Bottle. Nose tropical rind, heavy tangerine, slight melon, very fruity overall. Pour clear golden with a lighter yellow base, soapy white head. Taste surprisingly fully bitter with significant (i.e., "bone") dryness, some resin, subtle yeasty finish. Most of the aromatic fruitiness is nowhere to be found in the mouth, hard earthy caramel malt with a little grain and rubbery astringency -- it’s like a totally different beer. Fullish body but not too heavy, and there are some bitter notes that remind of too-roasted porter or stout specialty malts. Honestly hard to recommend, wish the citrus had come through, at least. Bear Republic Double Aught Pilsner
Bottle. Nose is strongly grassy and full of bright hopcit. Pour bright yellow-golden, clear with abundant carbonation and a large, sudsy bright white head; the thing really, really glows if backlit. Taste is clean, lightly grainy, good medium hoppiness with low bitterness that is accentuated by relative dryness; firm high mineral content, crisp but with smooth soapy feel and very soft malt, sunshine with streak of lemony citrus. Hay bale, dried grass, streak of dirt. Though the bitterness is so low (this is really more of a dry Helles than a tame Pilsner), the hopping lends it really natural, outdoorsy overtones. Balanced and level, and again, soft medium body and supremely drinkable, kudos for this one! [2017.02.05: 4.0]

Bear Republic The Grizz
On tap @ Rattle N Hum - Bear Republic Tap Takeover. This one’s from 2008! Pretty cool being able to try this. In the glass this is a really dark looking on. Deep dark brown looking with a small dark beige head in the top. Oh, this smells pretty amazing. It’s really woody tart sour, it has tones of sour red fruits. Lots of nice sweetish oxidation and a little bit of alcohol. Really good smelling this! Oh, my it’s delicious tasting also! It has a lovely oxidation that binds the flavor wonderfully together. It sweetish cherry like, lots of old earthy blueberries that’s been blended with vanilla, butterscotch blue plums and cranberries. A soft saltiness also present. Lots and lots of flavor here! A wonderful tasting slightly scary one. 17.06.2015

On tap @ Rattle N Hum. This is a near black looking one, a small bubbly off-white filmy head on the top. The aroma is filled with dark licorice, sweet blue plums and sweet sugary raisins. Just a lovely aroma. Much the same in the taste: Darkish berries, prunes, vanilla and a warming alco sting. Soft oily in the mouth gently carbonated. Sweet blueberries almost lingering fruit-berry. SWWEETISHANDLOVEL! Perfect as a last of a long day. 17.06.2015

Bear Republic Tartare Rouge
On tap @ Rattle N Hum as "Aged Tartare Rouge". This is a mild cloudy looking one, darker golden in color, almost a wood golden with a nice small just off-white head on the top. Smells quite oak woody at first. Mild lemonic in a way with tones of sour perches. Nice, like it. It’s really champagne vinegar acidic in the taste this! Almost gastric acid sour with sour gooseberry, apricot and currants. It has a nice oily texture in the mouth and it’s just about average on the carbonation. Surprisingly fruity within all that sharp acidity. Quite a refreshing one for sure loaded with complex flavor tones. 21.06.2015
