Otto's 15th Anniversary Ale
Sampled on draft this beer poured a slightly hazy vibrant golden color with a large foamy orange-white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet and yeasty with chalk, perfume and mustiness. The flavor was sweet, tangy and yeasty with bubblegum chalk, perfume and yeast. Medium length finish. Medium body. Decent but disappointing.

Ottos Double D IPA
Pours hazy green-golden with a one-finger white head. Tastes of bitter hops almost like a hopped hefe. It’s full bodied and the alcohol adds to the bitterness. It’s creamy and frothy. The bitter hops and alcohol are an attack on the taste buds. Wow!

Ottos Arthurs Session IPA
Cask, Zenos. Pours a slightly hazy dark gold body with a small wispy off-white head. The nose is light floral hops with a little pale malt at the base. The flavor is fairly light on the hops, but it matches the light malt base well. Just enough flavor to keep it interesting and drinkable. Light bodied with the usual hand pump feel. Just what the doctor ordered after drinking a bunch for the day. 3/7/7/3/14

Zeno's Rye IPA
Tap. Pours a clear amber body with a small fizzy off-white head. The nose is lightly citrusy with a nice earthy rye spiciness. The flavor walks the line between an IPA and a rye-focused beer. Nice lingering spicy and earthy finish. Pretty solid stuff. Medium bodied with fine prickly carbonation that enhanced the spiciness from the rye. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. Pretty nice beer. 3/7/8/3/15

Otto PA Sweet Corn Lager
I don't really know what they were going for... do you really want a beer to taste like sweet corn? If so, bravo, but it isn't really something I'd go out in search of. It is a fairly drinkable lager, and I love the locally sourced aspect, but meh...

Ottos Oktoberfest
A solid well-balanced Octoberfest - clear orange color, malt sweetness just barely balanced out by some faint European hop backbone. Easy to drink, but not one I'd return to all that frequently given my style preferences.

Otto's Greenaway's Green Hop Ale (2017)
Good timing to stop by apparently. Hazy golden beer, aroma of fresh hop oils, tongue coating classic bittering hop flavours, chewy mouthfeel and very oily texture, well carbonated, a wet hop treat!

Ottos Red Wheat IPA
Draft. Hazy coppery ruby pour with off-white head. Nose was caramel malt, hops, dark fruit. Tasted like a fruitier red ale with more hops and wheat notes. Dense on the tongue, with a huge IBU load.

Ottos Pallet Jack Pale Ale
DATE: June 30, 2017... OCCASION: live at Otto’s visiting Jer... GLASSWARE: no nick pint... arrives as an opaque burnt sienna body with a nice white ring--no room for head... first hints are fruity--apple, pear, BIG pineapple, melon, citrus... biscuit is a subtle reminder that the beer seeks balance...the Simcoe brings some earthiness to the aroma as well... lively and punchy, but mellow at its finish--the balance is struck in its palate...light to medium-bodied at 6.1%...the melon and grapefruit wed well with the apple and pear with the Simcoe pine working the profile well... a right solid pale that flirts with an IPA’s dimensions... refreshing and fruity, confident but agreeable...

Otto's Cork & Cage Series: Smelt of Elderberries
Sampled from a bottle at the brewpub this beer poured a dark fuchsia color with a small foamy pink head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was vague berries, vague herbs and a musty note. The flavor was berries with an odd herbal note that was almost hot pepper then dry and musty. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.

Ottos Double D IPA
Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a semi-copper color with a slight transparency about it. Quarter finger white foamy head swiftly dissipated. Mild stringy lace, sliding. The aroma had some dried grassy hops, toast, citrus rind -sweetness, some leather and a touch of earthiness. Malt base was there, slightly stiff. The flavor leaned into the sweetness of the malts and tried to blend in the hops, somewhat bitter and sweet, but that mainly stayed separated. Aftertaste was malty. Finish was slightly sticky. The feel was just a tad under medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, west coast styled DIPA? Maybe, in an odd sort of way. Old school DIPA? Perhaps. Enjoyable? Somewhat. Would I have again - only if someone offered me. It wasn’t too far off.

Ottos Apricot Wheat
Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a semi-hazy copper/amber color with a little white head that swiftly dissipated. No lace. The aroma had sweet apricots up front, light grassy hops at the end, not much else. The flavor was the sweet apricots with a sweet apricot aftertaste and finish. The feel was light bodied with a decent carbonation and ABV. Overall, I think I got enough words in for this so called review, but I didn’t get any wheat. Decent for what Otto’s wanted to do. But I will have to disagree and say this is more of Spring/Summer beer, I wouldn’t want this in the dead of Winter. I’ll stick to my big stouts in the Winter.

Ottos Night Owl Coffee Stout
DATE: April 8, 2017... OCCASION: having enjoyed the phenomenal Bandstand with Rich and Mary in NYC, now watching the last of Game of Thrones with Shan... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter... pours a coffee black body, with a brown, single-finger head that pocks and moves unevenly... aroma of licorice, thick espresso, grape, phenol, bread malts, and lactic tracings... sips at a rich, soft, swift pull... light-bodied, slightly weighty at the teeth... uneven smears of brown lacing wave as the glass drains... soft milkiness makes for a comfortable, if not rewarding in its simplicity... not picking up the coffee much in this... the overall experience is light in flavor, easy-drinking, and not distinguishable from other stouts--in fact, the coffee on the label is more misleading than affirming... not one of Otto’s stronger offerings, but not a bad early spring stout...

This was awesome - love the citra addition, and the reddish color makes it different than the wave of citra IPAs out right now. I didn’t detect much wheat, but I really like this beer.

Tart with cherry and lactic qualities, a bit watery. Prominent rum flavor, a bit of sour woody notes. Cherry finish with fruity tart after.

Ottos Night Owl Coffee Stout
8 month aged bottle. Pours dark, has good head retention, and has a creamy foam ring that laces my glass. The aroma is rather sweet of caramel sugar, mild to medium roasted coffee notes, and hints of chocolate. Tasting, good body, goes down nicely, and has an enjoyable aftertaste. The flavor has a clean bitterness with a balancing sweetness to complement each other. It is not too sweet or too bitter, it is just right. The coffee flavor is very good, I am surprised it held up like it did. Overall a standard good coffee stout, this is what they should taste like.

Tap. Pours a slightly hazy orange-copper body with a small wispy white head that faded to a thin island. The nose is slightly sweet with a light apple cider note over Belgian yeast and candi sugar. Flavor is similar, slightly sweet with a subtle cider undertone. Fairly noticeable alcohol level. Full bodied and a bit chewy with soft fizzy carbonation.

Ottos Triple D IPA
Pours a slightly cloudy yellow body with a small fizzy white head that faded to a wispy film. The nose is fruity and slightly sweet with some citrusy hops. The flavor is rather bitter and brash with an intense hoppiness. On the drier side even though it smells a bit sweet. Not the most easy drinking of beers, it’s a bit bitter for me, and I like hoppy beers. Medium to full bodied and a bit chewy with fine fizzy carbonation.
