Very nice aroma...citrus, fruity, grapefruit, orange. Cloudy dark orange pour. Very tasty, as well; lots of fresh citrus flavors. Very little bitterness, just a tad at the end. This is really, really good stuff.

Pours a dark amber with a white foam head. Aroma is citrus, pine, and resin hops with hints of cherry. Flavor is a combination of the hops and cherry concentrate, which turns out isn’t a great combination at all. Has some carbonation and a medium body with some bitterness. Smells nice, but the flavors don’t go together well. Just okay.

I love Shorts. I do not like IPA's. Therefore, this was one of the worst beers I've ever tasted. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma is hops, citrus, also pineapple and mango, very good. Pours a cloudy yellow/orange with white head mostly diminishing and excellent lacing. The taste is a light sweet then a light bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish long. Very good.

Short’s Small Heath
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 11/15/2016. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of brown bread, toasted biscuit, bread dough, light caramel/nuttiness, pear, apple, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of bready malt, light-moderate earthy hop, and light fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of brown bread, toasted biscuit, bread dough, light caramel/nuttiness, pear, apple, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of brown bread, toasted biscuit, bread dough, light caramel/nuttiness, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt, light-moderate earthy hop, and light fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness and carbonation, increasing through the glass. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 3.9%. Overall this is a delicious English pale mild ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; Very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. Nice robust English malt flavors, with balancing noble hops and restrained yeast esters. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

12 oz bottle. Pours a fully hazed gold yellow with a bubbly, brief white head. Looks pretty awful, to be honest, but I know at least the haziness is intentional. Piney floral pineapple hop aroma. Juicy pineapple and grapefruit, floral and pine flavors. Low bitterness makes it easy to drink. Rather tasty overall, certainly on the lighter side of double IPAs!

Short’s Space Drop
Bottle served in a glass, this beer was a yellow-gold in the glass with a faint haze, there was a large white cover of lasting bubbles, it left nice spots and partial rings of lacing, aromas of bourbon liqour, vanilla, grass and lemon citrus hops, hops had a light herb note, pineapple fruit, a little caramel in the background, light malt, malt sweetness with some bourbon sweetness, the flavors were lemon and orange citrus hops with a little pine and resin, some bourbon, light malt, the finish had a medium or more citrus hop bitterness, hops cling to the tongue for a bit, the mouth feel was light medium, there was average carbonation and it was creamy on the lips, the bourbon was noticeable and not over the top, it was a nice drink.

Short’s Goodnight Bodacious
Lots of surprises in a bottle of GB. Much larger malt bill than expected with a big aroma of chocolate, knotty pine and cherries. Finish is a collection of bitter and chocolate and then earthiness that seems like the knotty pine in the aroma was tossed in a blender and spread out over my throat. And then dryness. Really enjoyable.

Short’s Deacon Blues
Ever so slightly hazy amber and copper coloured body with a relatively large, four centimetre tall light tan head. Aroma of malts, some specialty grains, a dose of bread and yeast and a hint of sugars on the finish. Light-bodied; Very grassy flavour at first with a fresh floral hoppiness, some mellow grain and earthy flavours and finishing with a hint of sweetness and a big resinous flavour at the end. Aftertaste shows some bitterness from grass and hay along with more of a yeastie finish than you’d expect with some light sweetness and a very easy-drinking finish without much malt at all. Overall, a nice and easy to drink beer with some good flavours, a funky yeast and hop presence which turn out nice and not-typical, but an all around good (but not great) offering. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Sicilano’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 11-September-2015 for US$1,69 sampled at home in Washington on 13-July-2017.

The aroma is hops, citrus. Pours a golden yellow with big white head mostly diminishing and excellent lacing. The taste is a medium bitter. The body is medium/full, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish bitter. Smells great, looks great, everything about it sounds great but I don’t think the bourbon barrel and dry hopping does it for an APA. Something leaves a big bitter bite at the back of the tongue but the dryness is pulling the taste away and leaving a funky taste in the mouth.

My favorite beer. It’s full bodied and while it’s fruit flavored, IT’S STILL BEER and that is the primary thing that makes it my favorite beer. Other "fruit beers" in my experience have just been fruit and not beer, and I simply love the balance of fruit to beer flavor here. Also, it does looks really cool in a glass.

Short’s Melt My Brain
On tap at the Beer Cellar in Glen Ellyn, IL., and snifter served displaying a hazed, yellow/straw color, a layer of white froth that reduced to a persistent ring, with patchy foam as lacing. The nose was sweetness, gin & spice, lemon/lime, with a bit of apricot. The taste was similar, light to medium bodied, with spritzy carbonation, but near cloying, Kool-Aid-like sweetness. Tartness & tanginess saved the moment, along with some rind-like astringency to finish it off. Cider & shandy-like refreshment, low abv., but one was enough.

Bottle. Golden with one finger head. I’ve had very few bourbon barrel hoppy beers that I’ve thought worked well, but this is definitely at the top of the list. Fruity pale ale with a big bourbon kick. It easily could have been a mess, but somehow ends up working really well. Complex and delicious, and yet really easy drinking. One of the best Shorts has made lately.

12 oz bottle. Pours orange amber, mostly clear, with a white head. Berry and cherry aroma. Flavor is kind of a general fruity cherry-ness, slightly tart, citrus. Unfortunately, neither the IPA flavors nor the cherry is really given a chance to shine. It’s alright, but nothing really makes me like it.

Smells of sweet strawberries, and a touch of cream. The beer pours a hazy reddish-amber with a thin off-white head. Flavor wise, they nailed it. The taste is strawberries, and biscuit, with a hint of creamy sweetness. Light bodied, and very refreshing. This is a nice twist on a classic summer dessert.
