12oz bottle - it pours a midnight brown, almost black with barely a tan head. Upon tasting I noticed that the hops had almost completed disappeared. The aroma is rich malt, some barrel, prune, carob and dark rich bread. Not what I expected but still tasty.

12 oz can. Pours very hazy dark golden orange with a big rocky white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is subdued - biscuity malt and stinky hops.

The flavor is grainy biscuit malt with some subdued resiny fruity hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation

Overall, Iíve liked this better on tap (~3.5) with more resiny fruity hops.

Bottle from Whole Foods. Dark brown/ near black pour, small beige ring of head. Aroma is slightly woody, light sweetness, candy. Taste follows, far too sweet, syrupy. Licorice, like a Good ín Plenty, in this case not good. Like s previous reviewer said, over priced, avoid.

Not quite black pour, small receding head of tannish foam. Caramel aromas abound with roasted malt, miniscule presence from the oak barrel. And, this is pretty big, oxidation like what you get from aged Barleywines/Old Ales. Caramel and roasted malt, sweet on the top of that from milk chocolate, toffee, and light oxidation. Not as face forward as in the smell but itís there. Not in a horrendous way. Nicer enough and I am sure that I will give it a good enough rating but I donít think I will buy it again. You know. .

Shared 750 ml. bottle poured to snifters showing a deep mahogany hue, with a frothy layer of tan foam, and clinging spots of lacing. The nose was light roasted notes that were overshadowed by a strong presence of dark cherry & dark fruit skins, with slight hints of oak. The taste was similar, medium+ bodied, with fair carbonation, and a tart nature that lingered to finish with an earthy & tannic, but pleasant, astringent sting. Almost vinous, smooth & flavorful.

Pours a dark amber color with some ruby in there as well with a medium off white head that left some good lacing around the glass. The aroma is pine, citrus, some earthy spices as well. The flavor is similar to the aroma. There is some pine and citrus hop bitterness up front and finishes with some earthy spice rye notes on the backend.

Aroma is pine and very distinct hops. The flavor is citrus, pine needles, unique hops, fruit, malts and a bitter/slightly tart finish. Never had a beer with Comet hops in it, not sure why it hasnít hardly been used in ages, must be because in the past it didnít work well with the beers made then.

12 oz. bottle. Thin white head with some retention. Nose is a blend of roasted chocolate malt, ash and light barrel. Medium body with flavors of rich roasted malts, coffee notes, light chocolate. with a very subtle barrel in the finish. The balance between the IPA and barrel is well done. The texture and mouthfeel are nice. The mouthfeel is the best thing going on here. Alcohol heat is low. I know this beer was pricy but... Not a knock on the brewing process.

375ML via AFH. Thanks dude. Dark brown to black, reddish edges, small head. Smells really good actually. I get cocoa, fig and boozy barrel with a little pine cone. hmm, yeah, this is nice, ITís like a cocoa sundae with this pine that cuts through any sweetness. A little cocoa, malt barley, smoke. nice sweet finish. Tasty.

12floz bottle, BBD 06.14.2017, $1.50 for a single (Iíve had before on draft and from the bottle), poured into a pint glass. Translucent amber in color and the head forms continental bodies atop. Caramel creme permeates from the glass that I drinketh. Thy tasteth an adequate ale for a mere mortal, toasted malt and medium in character.

Not a fan of this out of the bottle, my beer strike-outs continue. Pretty good out of a tap though. Dry, dull amber. If this is the flagship then the ship has sailed. This beer is far behind the times, then again I donít know why Iím buying a style I donít particularly like. I used to like this but itís so 2005. I feel like Iím back in high school when Iím drinking this. Or 2009, because I could drink then. Such an average beer, I donít know why people buy stuff like this. I want a stout, never enough stouts in bottles for a good price at the liquor store. Odell is a good brewery but I wonít get this again.

12floz can bought for ~$2.50, BBD 05.20.2017. Poured into a tulip glass, head forms to the top above a brass-golden body. Nose isnít distinctive from other IPAs, citrus fruits blah, blah, blah...Peach flavor is very faint, you really have to find it or through the description subliminally detect it. A middle of the road imperial IPA, tropical punc hoppiness is all this beer has to offer. Iíll pass, unless I forget that it is mediocre like I did this time Itís fine to drink, but it isnít anything special.

12 oz. can poured to a Czech-pils glass at home, showing a hazed, orangey gold color, with a persistent layer of soft white/light cream tinged froth, and foamy ribbons, patches, & spots of lacing. The nose was expressive esters of citrus as tangerine & ruby grapefruit, pit fruit, tropical scent, with soft breadiness, and slight spruce. The taste was similar, medium bodied, with good carbonation, a little sweetness, and pronounced & lingering, citrus, rind-like, and lightly resinous bitterness tempered only slightly by some creamy maltiness. Dries a bit on the finish. Well defined notes, bright, and nicely drinkable.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/10/2016. Pours slightly hazy golden amber, light pinkish/orange color with a 1 finger fairly dense light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tart/tangy blackberry, lemon, pear, green apple, white grape, coriander, sea salt, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, blackberries, spice, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of tart/tangy blackberry, lemon, pear, green apple, white grape, coriander, sea salt, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness and light bitter/spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of blackberry, lemon, pear, green apple, white grape, coriander, sea salt, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, blackberries, spice, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tartness balance, and zero puckering flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from tartness and carbonation, increasing through the glass. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately grainy/saline/acidic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.8%. Overall this is a very nice fruited gose style. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, blackberries, spice, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink; thanks to the balanced acidity. Not as lactic/acidic as I was expecting; but itís really well balanced with plenty of blackberry flavors and well rounded classic style characteristics. A very enjoyable offering.

I did my best to drink local at the Republic but when you stumble across a gem like this you have to get a pint. A world class sour makes its own niche in the ever growing world of goses. If this was my local and a happy hour special Iíd definitely stay until bar close.

Aroma / Appearance - The fluid legs creep downwards until forming into a semitransparent coppery core. Lemon custard, wheat, and blackberry crumble provide the backdrop of a polished desert table. The dry sourness shines through without overwhelming the senses.

Flavor / Palate - Blackberries, salty lemons, and fruit refresh the eager palate. Drinkable and accessible its only drawback might be the cost. If this ever made its way further east towards Ohio I would definitely be sure to hit up a tap takeover.
