3.5 Detroit Beer Co. Steam Tunnel Stout This is a backlog rating from 2008 from a sample at MBGF 08, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are roasted malts, coffee, a bit watered down, dark chocolate. Wednesday, December 25, 2019

3.5 Detroit Beer Co. What Jess Wants Well, I'm not sure who Jess is, but apparently they just want a good Belgian-style IPA in their life. Can't blame them. This gold-colored hoppy ale is heady, crisp, citrusy, and resinous. It has notes of lemons, grass, and some Belgian yeast strain spiciness. It finishes with a dry, lemony tang. 3.9 Detroit Beer Co Zazzy Speedo It's difficult to resist trying something named Zazzy Speedo. If you're into fruit-forward and/or "milkshake" IPAs you'll probably enjoy this hoppy ale that's infused with blood oranges and raspberries. It leads with strong sherbet-like berry notes. The citrusy hops and blood orange takes over from there with notes of passion fruit, kiwi, and orange sherbet. Wonderfully thick and creamy feel. I tried this beer at the suggestion of my bartender and she certainly did right by me. Thursday, September 27, 2018

3.6 Detroit Beer Co Harvest Ale Sadly, my time at Detroit Beer Co was fairly brief, but I was able to see that they have a good grasp on Lagers and hoppy beers. Their Harvest Ale has plenty of fresh, wet American hop character. Color is orange. Head lingers for a while and leaves pretty lacing behind. Peachy, orangey, biscuity flavors. Creamy and lively texturing. It hits all the right notes. Thursday, September 27, 2018

3.5 Detroit Beer Co. Local 1529 IPA DBC's Local IPA delivers everything you would want and expect from a West Coast style IPA. Orange and partially hazy body with eggshell foam. Citrusy, herbal, and tree-like aromatics. Flavors of grapefruit, orange peel, pine, resin with just a bit of caramel malt. Moderately bitter and moderately crisp. It doesn't rewrite the standard rules but it doesn't blatantly break any of the good ones either. Solid. Thursday, September 27, 2018

3.9 Detroit Beer Co Richards Munich Helles This Helles was one of the last German-style beers I was able to locate during my time in Michigan but it checked off all the style boxes nicely. Pour is straw-colored and heady. Beautiful lacing left behind on the glass. It has a bread-like cereal grain malt flavor and a moderately hoppy finish. Superbly crisp feel. This is a no-bullshit beer that matches the friendly, unpretentious environment that it comes from. Thursday, September 27, 2018

3.2 Detroit Beer Co. Oktoberfest I had many Oktoberfests during my time in Michigan. While Detroit Beer Co's was my least favorite, it still delivered a better-than-average fest experience, so kudos to you, Michigan. Detroit's brew has a copper shade. It has the standard grainy feel and caramel-driven taste. Its body is lighter than many beers in this style, but that's easy to forgive on account of how cleanly this finishes. In the end, I'm not sure it's great example of an Oktoberfest, but it's a good Lager. Thursday, September 27, 2018

4 Detroit Beer Co. Briggs Brown Ale Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a dark red to brown color with a little white foamy head. Fell off to leave some light spotty lace. The aroma had some toast, nuts, some apples, slight cocoa powder, light caramel/toffee malts. The flavor leaned into the nutty and caramel malts. Toast came back to coincide with it claiming the aftertaste fairly nice. Nice semi-smooth nutty finish. The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Mild carbonation. ABV felt nice. Overall, nicely done brown ale worthy of coming back to. Thursday, May 4, 2017
